If you could trade one person who died young for another who lived much longer, who would you trade?

As the subtitle says, I'd trade Stephen King for River Phoenix. King was tapped out by the late 80s and now has a terminal case of TDS, plus his books have a lot of kiddy sexuality stuff so he probably has it coming. I chose River because I liked him in Stand By Me and maybe some of the current crop of airheads wouldn't have careers if he were around.

Brandon Lee is another one who's death boosted other people's careers, but I'm not sure who I'd trade for him.

I'd trade the lifespans of Ursula K. LeGuin (88 ) and Philip K. Dick (53). Even from a point of view of a fan of Ursula, which I am not, she had become repetitive by the 80s, while Dick died during a transformative conversion period that would have deeply affected his fiction and nonfiction work in bis later life.

Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Jimi would not have spent the last 40 years being a grumpy old fart and releasing tedious easy-listening albums. Clapton has barely done anything of note since about 1975.
