Fighting games today are garbage. You pay 60 bucks and then double/triple/quadruple that if you want a bunch of cool shit you used to be able to unlock. Even on sale the games aren't worth it. Capcom is in an interesting position because they are trying desperately to board the woke train but they will have to remove a lot of "problematic" elements to do that and risk alienating parts of their current player base.

As for Capcom in general, they sucked from 2009 through 2016, though there's a few gems, that period in general was mostly an awful time for Japanese developers and publishers, if I seem a little too quick to defend Capcom it's because my favorite publisher, Konami, fucked off entirely from releasing new games, I'm just happy to have my second favorite publisher, Capcom, be doing good for the last 5 years and I hate to think of them falling flat on their faces again.

Why Capcom is such an obsession for me is they were absolutely on fire from 2001 through 2006, first game of theirs I played was Devil May Cry, in 2005 I bought an art book of concept and character art from them, first time I really had a major behind the scenes look at any developer and Haunting Ground and Dead Rising are up there among my all time favorite games, especially Dead Rising.

They were just a cool fucking company, it was sad to see them decline, it was awesome to see them have a comeback, I can understand why people are starting to get worried at the moment, but I think people should stay on the optimistic side.

The truth is though I was fine with where things were at in 2013 with games like the original The Last of Us, Tomb Raider 2013, how those games handled it's female characters, I could have lived with it if things had stayed at that level but I knew they would keep going and eventually we wound up with Abby in Last of Us 2.

It all started in a big way with the Last of Us DLC in early 2014 where they made Ellie gay, which was never implied in the original game, I remember thinking "oh boy, here we go" though a precursor to that was Gone Home in 2013.

Why did it bother me? Because I could sense given what was already going on at the time what's happening now was going to happen and that's they were going to try to drive out anything from gaming that would appeal to just a good old straight white male.

It's the old cultural Marxist chestnut of oppressor and the oppressed, you can't build someone up without tearing someone else down, trying to broaden gaming's audience meant driving the original audience away even though that shouldn't have to be the case, this town's big enough for the both of us, but the Woke left sure as shit don't see it that way.

The fact that every non-indie and even most indie video games developed in the west have to adhere to a single specific taste is insane, it goes against our right to freedom of speech, it goes against creativity and artistry, it matters.
