Debate Global Moderator Trombonista on the merits of merging multiposts

I support merging multiposts. Certainly there are worse things in the world, but it's hard to think of them in the moment when you're scrolling down the thread and you find some taint sucking megafaggot has posted four or five posts in a row, all on irrelevant shit.

If I multipost, it's usually due to some regrettable circumstance like phoneposting. I used to mod two different Invision forums. Merging multiposts is superior. I'd take it even further.

Suppose posts A, B, C. if A and C are by the same poster and B doesn't reference A, I'd merge A and C. I would also apply this pattern to higher degrees of separation than the one post between A and C.

This policy substantially increases the needed amount of janny effort though. I always want to be kind to jannies. I know the gig. Still, though, clean forums are every poster's best interest.

but at the very least if somebody is hilariously losing their shit and multiposts a whole series of gibbering seethe it should be left alone because the fact that they're in multiposts makes it a lot funnier.
Yeah, this.

Seeing someone sperging over multiple different posts within a few minutes is much funnier and merging them just removes the charm of it. Doesn't help that usually the separate posts involve the sperg replying to different people and sometimes the merged post would be hard to read as a result.

And yet I doublepost.

Because juggling multiple quotes on mobile is a bitch and a half and sometimes I like to measure the reaction two different posts get if I'm talking about two entirely different things. I really don't see the big deal with double posting. I can see the logic in merging the posts later but it seems like a silly reason for a threadban.

It annoys jannies enough to make a debate thread about it therefore i am morally obligated to be in favor of multiposting.
