Decent site to publish a blog?

Anyone know of a decent site to publish a blog?

Hypothetically, if you were publishing a review for a philosopher, on an important work regarding many cultural & political issues, etc, where would you do it?

What is a site that is decent enough for readers & writers?

Is Wordpress lame? Is Substack worse, & only for grifters?

If anyone answers this seriously, cost & privacy are factors to consider, as well. Thank you.

If you can afford a few bucks then host yourself a Wordpress blog.
Not buy a domain & point it to some free Wordpress blog whole ass it and pay for hosting so you own & control it all.

To start just throwing something up on the free Wordpress or Substack is easy enough. I agree with the above about hosting your own Wordpress but at least to start the free one works pretty good to help you figure it out and get things going and it's pretty easy to transfer over to your own once you're ready.

I've messed with some other stuff but Wordpress is just too easy to use if you don't want to do anything really special and though I haven't checked lately it had a pretty decent addon community.
