Highly disappointing. No new objectives, guns, gear, and maps. They just made rockpox even more annoying, so more infected enemy types that will spread the 'can't move' air. Adding different variations of enemies that already exist is the most lazy approach you can take. I denounce the DRG COVID scamdemic idea completely.
Just one more season of Rockpox, then Ghost Ship will add something new. The Rival incursions only lased two seasons, so it's safe to assume the Rockpox will follow suit.

They will add rocket boots I guess
I remember hearing about jet boots in their 5 year anniversary stream, and they were all excited "maybe we'll add jet boots!?," and I remember thinking, "no, don't add jet boots, thats retarded" and yet here we are. I hope they stop listening to discord trannies, but I guess since their discord is advertised right in game that's an optimistic take.

They screwed themselves with the gun thing, the main dev was saying it's too much work adding more guns, because they have to update every single cosmetic framework retroactively. So I guess you could say too many cosmetics mean less chances of actual new weapons. He said it would be "a long time" before they add any new weapons. I would have been happy if they added some more weird cave generations. I really wanted a new mission type. There is almost too much community engagement if that makes sense.

Whatever you do don't read the thread in /vm/ it's seethe central.

The next season will probably be the perk system rework.

They're listening to the wrong people for the wrong reasons. I made a quick burner account because I've heard a lot about how much of a shithole the DRG Discord is. The suggestions I saw were tumblr fanfic tier.
A few that caught my interest included an updated Mule with guns, and a Mule thing that fires flares like the Scout. Aside from the horrible ideas, some of them come up with unfunny jokes (if you've ever wondered where most of the cringy voice lines come from) that the developers often add because they're so quirky and wholesome.

Just make new overclocks. Simple. A lot of players are sitting on a lot of matrix cores. Tie some of them to rank, tie some of them to EDDs specifically, I don't fucking care. Hats are super fun big chungus but some actual progression ONCE AND A WHILE is nice too. Most of the overclocks in concept at least are as old as the overclock system. They don't even have to be good. Shit, make them meme tier OCs like spinning death, its still better than the zero that have come out for YEARS.

What's double annoying is that you know there are good ideas that come up there and probably their faggot reddit too but it all gets drowned out by idiot VIPs troonshine brain takes. Discord should be fucking banned.
I get it it's a casual game but 1) it's not hard to git gud and 2) there are a lot of turbo vets that are turbo bored. Every now and them, throw then a bone.

I'm just going to cry into my Randoweisser as I forge another mineral matrix core, and promote my classes to legendary 3 for the umpteenth time.

The odd time I do play with friends, who are new, I start a new save file just for that, so we are all at the same progression level. It's fun working within some self imposed restrictions.

Figured I'd share the upcoming balance tweaks for S4:
WEAPON BALANCE
----------------------------
SUBATA 120
The Subata has long been in need of an update. As always if you unlocked any of the removed upgrades their cost will be refunded.

- Increased base weakpoint damage bonus (from 1.2 to 1.25)
- Reduced base ammo (from 160 to 144)

Modification Tweaks
- Reduced the bonus of the T1 High Capacity Magazine upgrade
- Moved the T1 Reload Speed upgrade to T3
- Increased the bonus of the T2 Ammo upgrade
- Increased the bonus of the T2 Damage upgrade
- Removed the T3 Damage upgrade
- Added a new 2-Round Burst upgrade on T3
- Moved the T3 Ammo upgrade to T4 and increased it's bonus
- Increased the bonus of the T4 Hollow-Point Bullets upgrade
- Removed T5 Acid Coated Bullets upgrade
- Added the Neuro-Corrosive Catalyst upgrade to T5
(Note: this causes Subata shots to interact with corrosion by instantly forcing the DPS to come all at once in exchange for ending the status effect early. Also causes enemies to explode if the circumstances are right. I would have preferred Acid-Tipped Bullets to stay)
- Added a Blowthrough Rounds upgrade to T5
CRYO CANNON
Snowball OC
- Reduced ammo cost
- Affected targets cannot warm-up for a short time after getting hit

SUBATA 120
Tranquilizer Rounds OC
- Added a "slow" effect to help with enemies that are immune to stun
- Changed the rate of fire penalty from a flat value to a percentage

M1000 CLASSIC
Hipster OC
- Reduced the RoF bonus of the Hipster OC to compensate for the RoF boost from the input buffer.

DRAK-25
Shield Battery Booster OC
- Removed overheat recovery time penalty
- Added a significant shield regeneration bonus

BOOMSTICK
Double Barrel OC
- Replaced the small pellet damage bonus with a large bonus to Blast Wave damage
- Added a shot spread penalty
- Changed OC type from Clean to Balanced

BREACH CUTTER
Spinning Death OC
- Reduced the ammo penalty

THUNDERHEAD AUTOCANNON
Carpet Bomber OC
- Changed the explosion radius bonus from a flat to a percentage to significantly expand it when taken together with the AoE Range upgrade
- Changed the damage bonus from a flat to a percentage for an increased maximum when taken together with the AoE Damage upgrade

Neurotoxin Payload OC
- Reduced the AoE size bonus
- Added an ammo penalty
- Removed the direct damage penalty
- Increased the AoE damage penalty slightly

HURRICANE GRS
Plasma Burster Missiles OC
- Guidance system update prevents missiles from hitting the ground while swarming around a target
- Increased the number of hits a single missile can deliver before expiring

Things are subject to change, since this doesn't come in until next week IIRC.

EDIT: And just like that, we got some new tweaks hours later. Rolled what I could into preexisting OCs when necessary.

Comments seem to be praising the Neurotoxin nerf, but it looks like a nothingburger, losing some AoE range and damage won't change the fact that you only need to one tap most of the bugs and with no direct damage penalty you're even more justified to blast bigger ones that could survive the toxin's damage, with T1 ammo it still will be very ammo efficient.

This is the only overclock I use on scout. I enjoyed the fact that it rewarded not getting hit, it added a fun incentive to play better. Not sure how I feel about this one, it was already very very good in the right hands, now all the other leaf lovers are going to get their grubby hands on it.
>waaaah SBB isn't good I stepped on the lava
>waaaah Friendly fire damage
>waaaah I can't position properly to not get hit
>waaaah I'm shit, buff this so I can use it!

It already gave you:
+9 damage (that's almost 50% more damage)
+projectile speed (which the drak sorely needs) so you don't have to take the speed upgrade in the regular tree
+more ammo

With this shield boosting buff every other overclock for the plasma rifle is a straight downgrade. They should have made aggresive venting cooler, like if you took atleast 10 fall damage, and managed to overheat your gun within 6 seconds your AOE venting radius increases by 80%. You could have some synergy with vampire, and you could have a cool gameplay where you suicide bomb the bugs. Or maybe give another overclock some interaction with the underloved chemical explosion bolt. I wish I could take chemical explosion bolt and pheromones. You can throw the firebolt into the garbage and replace it with chemical explosion. Firebolt sucks, I can kill just as many grunt's with bodkin points, and it take less than half the time of setting up a perfect firebolt cauldron.

I'm kinda surprised how sparse this one feels given how long it's been since S3 dropped. Not even a single new overclock coming in from what I see which makes me very sad. New miniboss is something but I'm already over the powerwash sim minigame so ehhhhhhhhh. At least its not as bad as the rival's hacking event but that's not a very high bar either.

ETA: Also that NTP 'nerf' is some pussy shit that isn't going to change anything.

It's like once a year or so, the autocannon OC du jour switches from NTP to carpet bomber. I don't remember a patch where one of those was not the OC of choice.

Yeah, it's looking to be a pretty dire season. I'll play anyway because the combination of bunnyhopping and TCF trickshots are crack to me, but I'm also feeling like the schizo retards on 4channel are on the money with their observations. The continued ignoring and memeing of perfectly reasonable features to ask for (like a shooting range, among other things which individual modders have no problems creating) instead of stupid shit like flappy bird in the hub really does feel like the devs are cashing in and want to move on to different projects. Who the fuck actually played the DRG board game or Vampire Survivors clone? They're clearly blitzed off the discord hotbox, and I don't think they realize how hard they're coasting off of goodwill that is evaporating quickly outside of that hotbox.

It's so frustrating. They could just spend a whole year refining things like current mission types (adding some extra variety to things like escort/sabotage), mission mutators, weapon balance, perks, overclocks, cave gen, numbers for higher difficulties, etc over new seasonal enemies, mission types, even biomes and I'd be perfectly fine with that. I think a lot of veteran players would be too because the foundation for the game is solid, and it could be a lot more if it was focused on. Hell, I'm still wowed by some of the new cave gen that they added, what, two seasons ago now?

100%. On paper, the scope of what's included in seasonal updates was about the same as what was included in the normal biannual big updates although that clearly dropped off after the first season. When the "seasonal" model became the method of delivering content updates, my concern was that every season was going to include some small amount of new shit in lieu of refining existing systems. It'd be hard to bill a ton of improvements as a season and the discord kitten yes men squad might get upset if there aren't a dozen new hats and a gay minigame included with the seasonal update. GSG definitely made enough money to hire more than just the guy who models all the cosmetics.

The situation reminds me of the transition from from Vermintide 1 to Vermintide 2. Long story short, Vermintide 1 was fairly well supported and Fatshark had a loads of goodwill going into VT2's launch. VT2 had a barebones launch and was missing a shit ton of QoL features, many of which never returned. The game was in a pretty good state about a year and a half after launch but the 2.0 Winds of Magic update sent the game back to the stone ages, after ignoring near universal negative feedback during its beta. From there it took another two and a half years to get back up to snuff, and then we got Darktide which is a whole different disaster.

I really hope they don't go down the route Warframe did where they kept adding a bunch of gay non-warframe content and did nothing to balance the game or improve core features (at best slapping on band-aid solutions to kick the can down the road). Sadly, Shiny New Thing™ will always sell better than core gameplay improvements.

Another day, another experimental build launched for playtesting:
BOOMSTICK
Double Barrel OC
- The gun now fires both shots simultaneously

HURRICANE GRS
- Replaced the clean Manual Guidance Cutoff OC with the new unstable Rocket Barrage OC
(This basically turns the Hurricane into a proper, dwarf-portable MLRS; increased rate of fire and a lot more reserve ammo, but you can no longer guide the rockets and overall damage takes a hit)

This I like. I've had trouble finding a use for the hurricane, no matter the build, and this might be just what I've been looking for.

I had a bad feeling when on their 5 year anniversary stream one of them said "we might have created an evergreen [game]."
finding a use for the hurricane
The only overclock I like on the hurricane is the clean one that increases the fire rate, and makes the rockets a bit faster so it doesn't take 5 days for them to reach their target, with weakpoint dmg, +ammo, +magazine size, armor break, and stun. Then I take the elephant round OC on the Revolver. The stun really blows mactera away, and you can stun wardens, then snipe their weakpoint with the revolver. It's not bad, but I sometimes find I can be wanting for ammo, even though I've taken the only ammo upgrade on it.

Maybe I'll play it one last time before the changes...

Driller's soyface cracks me up every time I see this picture.

Not that I really care but there's less than half the number of cosmetics over last season in the new tree and the ones in the level tracker are all mashups of old assets. Probably not gonna play much besides trying to make some fun builds with the rebalanced OCs. This season is super phoned in. Guess GSG has discord kittens to groom.

I kind of love the new bugs so far. Haz 5 has been the scariest it's been for me in hundreds of hours at this point. Stingtails do some truly heinous shit to you more often than not, and septic spreaders are like spitters mixed with goo bombers who melt the fuck out of you and like to hide and take cover while doing it; I get so paranoid of them during salvages that it's basically an instant shield drop from me if goo lands during the uplink. That shit melts you in like 2 seconds at full health. I really hope they don't get nerfed for a while or at all, it's really refreshing to have new high-priority targets. I like rocket boots a lot too, but them being a random spawn is a really strange implementation for them.

Rockpox enemies are way more threatening now too, which I like, although it makes the lithophage janny work more of a pain in the ass. They seem to release more corruption on death, because I've been punished much harder for going in and popping boils with drills. Rockpox waves are so threatening that I've actually been tuning my builds for them specifically. My best answer so far is wave cooker with the penetration overclock, but weapons with chain hits could be good too if they work the way I think. Maybe gunner's plasma rockets too.

I've only seen corruptor once and it was a shitshow, but that may have just been the team's lack of knowledge and the really bad arena for the fight.
