Defendant: Ethan Oliver Ralph - Ethan Ralph's Documented Legal Troubles & Other Court Docs

So to get a few things right off the bat:

A Class 1 Misdemeanor is the highest tier in VA. It carries with it the exact same sentence that Ralph got for his revenge porn conviction: Up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Here is the relevant VA Penalty Code

Also, here is the specific violation.

This could actually be enough to unsuspend his sentence and bite him in the ass,.
13th? isn't that when he drove to the wigger paradise of atlantic city? So, Rozy was in the car? I mean I'm not surprised since he's already driven with her in the car while drinking and high on camera.

I thought he lost his license? This is why it's always been bizarre that whenever he has been asked for ID by police he says he only has his passport on him.
I don't recall Ralph getting any tickets for driving on a suspended license, but if his license is expired I have a funny theory: he's afraid to renew it because he'll fail the eye exam. Virigina may be waiving the eye exam due to COVID though.

I think the most surprising thing about his driving is not getting into any crashes or more tickets. He drives like a lunatic even when he's not driving drunk and high.
I've said it before, but the only thing to cancel Ralph for is his driver's license. He is a very real danger to bystanders and the state of Virginia needs to ban him from operating a motorized vehicle.

Here's an ambulance chaser firm's explanation of the worst case scenario for an offense like this.

Serious Repercussions For Being Convicted of Reckless Driving

Here is a worst-case scenario: Let’s say an out-of-state driver decides to pay the fine and skip court. Not realizing the seriousness of a Reckless Driving conviction, she assumes it will cost a few dollars, and that will be the end of the story. And it is—until she is pulled over again. She will learn that a capias (a type of warrant) has been issued for her arrest, because the judge would have imposed a jail sentence had she been in court. The officer in her home state will arrest her on the spot, and she will spend three weeks in jail awaiting transportation to Virginia to serve a three-day sentence. Believe it or not, this happens all the time. Reckless Driving charges are like termites; your best bet is to let a professional deal with them, because everything can come crashing down around your ears if you ignore them.

So even if you do just pay it off and fail to appear (unless the ticket explicitly allows you to do this), you could still end up with an arrest warrant and a jail sentence waiting for you next time you get popped (and Ralph definitely would get popped again).

And they even sometimes chase you out of state. Virginia is notoriously awful for this kind of thing and is widely considered the worst state in the country to get a speeding ticket.

cross posting this

Virginia drivers will be assessed 6 demerit points on his/her record, and the conviction will stay on his driving record for 11 years. Additionally, if convicted of reckless driving, the driver will have a permanent criminal record. Persons convicted of a crime in Virginia cannot expunge that crime from his criminal record.

A ticket or charge for reckless driving based on speed cannot be prepaid. In many jurisdictions you will be required to appear in court (or have a lawyer appear for you depending on local rules) or a warrant for your arrest may be issued for your failure to appear. You will need to check with a lawyer in the jurisdiction you received your ticket to know how that jurisdiction handles these case.

from what I've read the pig can't prepay and will have to show for court.

Well Mr Elmo, if you were world traveler like Ralph you'd be carrying passport as well to impress meddling law enforcement officers with countless stamps from all over the world.

I'm not surprised he would do this, but how the fuck did he manage to go 65 on a road that's 30?
People drive fast on roads all the time. If cops aren't there to stop them then most people never realize just how fast they going sometimes. I remember when I was learning to drive I saw that I was doing nearly 70 on a 45.

Maybe I'm just not used to stacking up criminal violations of traffic laws, but isn't this entirely different from a civil infraction? I've never heard of being able to "pay off" a criminal violation like you would a traffic ticket.

With a civil violation, the penalty is only ever a fine so they allow you to admit to the infraction and pay the fine without ever showing up. But I would think accusation of a traffic violation that is criminal is no different than being accused of any other crime. I've never heard of the "never show up to court but mail in your guilty plea along with a check" method of criminal adjudication before. Maybe these types of crimes are still handled by traffic courts so they're handled in their own way to keep the cash flowing cases moving.

Even if he gets zero jail time and only a fine it's still a criminal act on his record. Wouldn't a new criminal conviction be enough to also upend the suspended sentence?

If it had been less of an infraction, you are correct, there are actual classifications of just Traffic Violations. When you drive like a shit head like Ralph does in a state that is aggressive on bad driving like VA, it turns heavily criminal when they catch you going 20 or more over the limit. The REALLY fucking hate it when you do more than double the limit. Then it becomes top tier criminal misdemeanor, lol.

New case. Speeding but as a misdemeanor 1.

Jesus, Ralph's driving skills might as well be a thread in itself at this point. It's legitimately reckless and worrying; wasn't there that story about him getting into some road shenanigans while Cozy Rozy was in the passenger seat?

Cozy Rozy was driving so Ralph could get drunk and lay down in the back, actually.
