The story behind this guy is that he is a 30 year old man that is completely and utterly obsessed with Sailor Moon. Since VizMedia announced rescuing the show last May he had been on a crusade against Viz for not streaming the series to Canada. Time and time again he had been told that he would be able to buy the upcoming home releases, but makes up excuses about not buying it.

He claims to have asperger syndrome and has mentioned countless times that his family banned him from having anything to do with SM and an Anime Convention in Vancouver. His family seems to know what is best for his mental state yet he continues to hurt his emotional state by writing depressing messages about SM on his Twitter.

He had some videos too on his Youtube account where a week or so again he made a video of himself crying with a caption saying something along the lines of Viz giving him the middle finger and denying him from watching the show (seriously, yet he deleted it recently).

You can get to know him more by reading the following sauces: http://www.reddit.com/r/ForeverAlone/comments/2ec1uq/alienated_sailor_moon_fan/

His Twitter is fulled of VERY fucked up shit. I myself love Sailor Moon and never in my entire life have I encountered someone so obsessed with the show to the point of where it becomes super unhealthy. Viz apparently put a restraining order on him because he harassed them on their Facebook, Twitter, website site forum, NeonAlley forum, and email (not a shocker since he had called Viz terrorists and once tweeted that an earthquake in San Francisco was karma against Viz for not streaming SM to Canada).

I wish this guy was a troll, but he really isn't. The latest post I found about him posting depression and SM in the same sentence was back in 2004 (it is on another SM forum yet you have to register to see it).

As of 2016 DENelson has yet to get better and has gotten even worse since I made this post. He is banned from interacting with Viz (police escorted him from harassing an employee), stalks Sailor Moon fans on Twitter to preach about the show not streaming in Canada, and is on a crusade to ban all the voice actors and actresses from visiting Canada.

It's crazy that his family had to intervene with his SM obsession. It's a pity his youtube channel is a bit boring as it would be interesting to see him go off on a rant. I will totally agree with you though he is very creepy. I found his tweet below especially creepy as the first sad rendition of Moonlight Densetsu sounds like the music for a serial killer or something. He clearly wants to escape his reality more than most. I wonder if he does cosplay...lets hope not.

p.s. Why go nuts at Viz, could he not just torrent or XBMC that shit?

Holy crap, I have a lolcow of my own that has been obsessed with Sailor Moon for as long as I've known her, but even she was willing to torrent the series when it went off the air here in the states. I'm curious as to what happened to him to cause him to cling to this obsession so hard, and to put the series on such a pedestal that viewing it any way besides legally streaming it is considered sacrilegious.

Christ almighty with a side of pudding! I'm no psychologist, but I find it dubious that DENelson has aspergers. Instead, I think he may have some genuine psychosis or schizophrenia.

For some more armchair psychology, I wouldn't doubt that he has paranoid schizophrenia, given that he acts like Viz not airing the show in Canada is some sort of conspiracy against him and he even said that he wanted to go to that anime convention for "investigative" purposes.

Viz was sending reps to that convention. The information I wanted was regarding Canada's first "MoonDay", i.e. the streaming release schedule for this title in this country. They have the rights to stream Sailor Moon in Canada; they just don't have the will. It makes me feel left out of some kind of party.

When I saw that Viz was involved, I thought he was going to be bitching about the redub. This is just scary.

Found other goodies to read.

Since I was almost 12 (September 1995), I have enjoyed the Japanese anime Sailor Moon. (From here on out, I will refer to the title character of this show simply as ~.) The community at-large interprets this as not fitting into my demographic, and I have been a target of bullying because of this, ever since I was in junior high school; e.g., my peers have frequently said "~'s a crack-whore" within earshot of me. Therefore, any text or images that give Sailor Moon a bad rap, such as amateur parodies, offend me to my core. And whenever I am in a situation that hurts me profoundly, it gets permanently recorded in my memory.

I don't make fun of anything anyone else likes, and frankly, I don't really care what they like. But if anyone makes fun of me or anything I like, I take it really personally, so just don't even try it when I'm nearby. Especially you, Grandpa Hino!

Him not wanting to torrent Sailor Moon episodes is hilarious to me considering how many spergs in the Sailor Moon fandom will do the most insane mental gymnastics to justify illegally downloading Sailor Moon stuff, even when they probably shouldn't.

"The Sailor Moon Manga is being re-translated into English and it's success will probably help determine whether or not the new anime and merchandise will be brought to North America? That's really cool, guess I'll go out and bu- WHAT THE FUCK!? MINAKO SAID 'PUTTING ON AIRS'? I PERSONALLY HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT EXPRESSION BEFORE WHICH MEANS THIS TRANSLATION IS UTTER SHIT! Let's all boycott the new manga and download the illegal scanlations Miss Dream just put up that are covered in footnotes because she's an ignorant dumbass who's never heard of basic American sayings. Also better harass the manga's editor on facebook and twitter."

I just

what.

Does he not know that Hola for Firefox, or all the other proxy addons out there, will give him access to the SM series (original subbed, dubbed, and Crystal) through Hulu? That way he can support official releases, even if it's through proxy. Of course I'm making sense, and if he has mental health issues, it's probably not as obvious to him. He clearly needs help, but I'm not sure if his parents know about this? Like, I just can't get it. I'm in Canada. There are ways to access Sailor Moon. Maybe not 100% legal or hassle-free ways, but there are.

"Sailor Moon's crack whore," made me laugh though. I'm more concerned with how closely this seems to be tied up with his mental health, assuming he's not exaggerating for dramatic effect.

I also can't access his Twitter, so I'm assuming he deleted it?

Edit: Just saw this:

Hola unblocker for Google Chrome. Then watch on Hulu.

Failed. Besides, that isn't legal. Sailor Moon is sacred to me, and I can't bear to dishonour it by watching it in any way other than one officially sanctioned for Canada.

Oh. Uh...okay then. I...I still don't get it.

So apparently, this guy won't stream, torrent, or order the original series, because this is "going behind Viz's back," in spite of the fact that his shitty little hurt-myself protests aren't going to bring the previous version of the show back.

What the dicks.

There's not even anything wrong with it. Let's say he can't afford the DVDs right now, but he is saving up and really wants to watch the show. As long as he buys the DVDs as soon as he's able Viz will still get their money. A DVD box set is a one-time purchase.

Well...about that.....

On his Twitter I told him multiple times that he can just buy the boxset. He said he couldn't and that Viz had "blacklisted him from buying it anywhere online". I pointed out the fact that Viz wouldn't take the time to notify all of your everyday Joe Blow eBay/Amazon sellers to not sell him the boxset, and he would clam up or just say things like "it is still not an option for me because [insert lame or non-sense making excuse]".

He thinks that no legal streams to Canada = Canadians being completely denied access to the show. Personally, I think he is just being a cheap ass because he said he would only subscribe to Crunchyroll, which is $7.99 a month for unlimited Anime watching, if they get the 90ies version in their library. And yet if they, going by CR getting the show, don't limit the series to subscribers only he could just watch the free SD version.

I am most likely right because what stopped him from purchasing the DVDs/VHS tapes back when they were being distributed in the early 2000's? If SM has a huge negative effect on his mental health then how on earth did he manage to survive all those years of the show being off air and the home releases being out of print? Better yet, what were his parents doing all this time? His earliest post about SM and depression was dated back in 2004 (almost 10 years ago!!!).

Edit: Oh ho, the guy is a lying hypocrite about the whole "I will not torrent a show that is sacred to me". http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/3502561/Sailor_Moon_5B01_-_2005D_5BComplete5D <------Scroll to the bottom to see his comment. Warning, link is somewhat NSFW due to inappropriate ads.

DENelson83 here. I noticed from a Google search that you were talking about me here. http://cwckiforums.com/threads/denelson83-the-obsessed-sailor-moon-fan.4821/Believe it or not, reading this thread has been a godsend to me, as it has given me a valuable outside perspective on my behaviour. I feel I should privately weigh in with you on this weirdness that my life has been over the past few months.

Yes, I have been being quite the lolcow recently. I was off my medication for a while, and looking back at how I've behaved over the past few months, I am shocked and ashamed. I let my fanhood of Sailor Moon take over and consume my life. I went off on Viz via e-mail, Twitter, and I even telephoned the company to register my displeasure, so much so that they notified my family and asked that I stop contacting them, which I have. I am now seeing a psychiatrist on a regular basis, and that's given me the perfect forum to vent off the pent-up frustration I have been carrying around with me for these past few month.

You will notice that, yes, I have been involved in torrenting the original Japanese Sailor Moon series. However, with my warped moral code, I have not *watched* the show at all after obtaining it that way. The reason my depression only surfaced after Viz Media obtained Sailor Moon is because before then, it was completely unlicensed in Canada. I did buy the DVDs of the DiC dub of Sailor Moon when they were being sold, but those have now deteriorated to the point where they're now unwatchable.

As of right now, I am passing on Viz's Sailor Moon DVD/BD releases entirely. I have declared myself dead set on watching the show as an official Canadian stream first—without resorting to piracy or VPNs—even if I have to wait a long time to do so. My rationale for this is that I want the very same experience with Viz's Sailor Moon that US fans got back on May 19. I have only ever been able to enjoy Sailor Moon on my own, and watching it from DVD/BD only reinforces that solitude to me. I'd rather watch it publicly and feel like I'm in a party while doing so.

Here's the situation with me and Viz's June 30 download-to-own releases: I don't own a Playstation or XBox. Amazon Instant Video does not accept customers outside of the US, Google Play won't sell Sailor Moon in Canada, and here's the real kicker: I have boycotted iTunes. I feel Apple should not get any money from me, because I don't like their way of doing business. Does that make me a hypocrite in some way? I don't know, but I bet some of the people you've been talking with on this know the answer to that.

I recently posted this final statement about the impasse between Viz and Canada, and I would like to know if there's anything wrong with it. Feel free to post it on this thread discussing me and dissect it. http://www.saiyanisland.com/2014/02/neon-alley-to-be-free-starting-april-1/#comment-1614117302

I also posted a YouTube video talking about my fanhood of Sailor Moon. Feel free to watch and dissect that as well.

Gotta give props to the guy, it's rare that people with threads about them on this site can actually look at it in such a constructive manner. Accepting his problems and going to a psychiatrist was a good call, I wish the best for him.
