y'know what sucks? digging through all the old Myelin Games videos about Praedyth, the Vault of Glass, and his connection to Lakshmi-2 and the Future War Cult. I remember when Myelin Games was like legitimately fucking livid when D2 shelved the Grimoire Card concept altogether in tone-deaf fashion, and I was like "oh man... D2 is gonna fucking blow. I just know it." Lo and behold... D2 died as it lived: as a colossal, incompetent clusterfuck that betrays the foundations that made it legitimately excellent.

Bungie certainly attracts a caliber of fan, that's for sure.

I peeked through his channel and the views look dead, and he entirely depends on Marathon clickbait for views, before that it was Arc Raiders clickbait. Guy's probably just asshurt his latest grift will suffer if Marathon goes down the toilet so he needs something to get him attention.

What a fucking faggot lol

Here is a local archive of the video:

This fucking rat keeps talking around stuff just to cover for Bungie, even after all that's transpired. Always talking about things that "happened" as if out of thin air, not things that are direct consequences of Bungie's leadership and staff "work ethic and decision making". "Oh, it's hard making content, it's also very expensive"... No, rodent, Bungie are unbelievably lazy and burn way too much money for the pitiful amount of stuff they put out.
He really does sound like a fucking FTM :story:
The estrogen just oozes out, in his voice and manerisms.

The update is fantastic and they’ve only shared one aspect so far. Damn DAMN fucking shame it ends with them, unironically:
Over delivering
i mean they intend the game to be a passive income source, of course they will do final adjusments to keep the grinding wheel going so people can fork the money, rogue company in a way as it does the same shit, it still tries to sell you battlepass and hero packages but it won't get any updates so...
which is retarded, online games need content updates.

This retarded fuckin’ spud Dahn unda just completely fucked his channels algo and SEO for the foreseeable future. 50 million fucking views down the drain lmao.

Since the nigga can’t own a gun, we won’t get a Ronnie McNutt suicide, but what’s the Deadpool on him hanging himself live on stream using a Hunter Strand Super replica?

I tried out the D2 New Light experience and when you go to the tower it gives you an introduction quest loading you into a pre-Lightfall Tower, with the Traveller present and Holiday alive. Lazy.
It would be nice if this final update actually tried to make the new player onboarding just a little better, but I'm not holding my breath with the limited time and resources they have left. I could pretty much guarantee that the introduction to the game is a big reason why the population hasn't grown substantially in years. When you're chucked into the deep end with no decent explanation of what any of your buttons do, no context as to what you're doing at the start or what to do next, and no tutorial of how to actually navigate the interfaces, while simultaneously being bombarded with a bunch of useless information like being pestered to buy the expansions over and over...yeah, not really a surprise that a lot of people dipped out after an hour or two.

First dev article is up, and it's a doozy:
  • The Director is back and will be the default way to access activities in the future:
    • Kepler and the Lawless Frontier have been added.
    • Destination loot is updated across the board with loot tiers, armor set bonuses, refreshed perks, and more. Crafted weapons will also get additional perks per column.
    • Public events are the primary way to earn loot, with regular events giving T3 base and heroic events giving T4, with each having a chance to upgrade up to T5.
    • Destination activities like the Blind Well or Altars of Sorrow will also give tiered loot, details to follow.
    • World loot pool has also been refreshed and updated with weapons from all across D2's history, including Splicer and Dawn weapons.
    • Cosmodrome: Seraph arsenal, new origin trait Eyes Up giving boosted stats and damage at the start of combat, extendable through kills.
    • Nessus: Vex arsenal (including Undying), new origin trait Fail-Deadly giving stacking bonuses with damage until you land a kill.
    • Europa: Sidearm changed to kinetic micro-missile frame, new origin trait Winterized Gear giving boosts when out of combat that decay slowly upon reentering combat.
  • Distortions are hourly events that take place in one of seven different destinations, making enemies stronger, adding new events and treasure to discover, and boosting rewards. Public event rewards will be upgraded one tier (so heroics will give T5 loot guaranteed). There will also be a new weapon set exclusive to Distortions to chase dropping alongside the other rewards.
  • The Portal isn't being entirely removed, but it is getting simplified:
    • Icons at the bottom of the Director will give access to smaller Portal spaces for each category of activity (Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit), along with a menu to access dungeons and raids.
    • A selection of additional content will be added to the various Vanguard categories.
    • Rewards are being simplified greatly. Now, all you need to do is complete an activity at a particular difficulty to be guaranteed a specific level of gear, no modifiers or scoring thresholds necessary. This only scales up to GM difficulty guaranteeing T5, with Ultimate remaining as an option, but not required. If you want a more relaxed run but still want better rewards, you can add modifiers to a lower difficulty to get up to a tier higher.
    • As for matchmaking, matchmade activities will have fewer modifiers than have been normal for a while, more revive tokens are being given for Fireteam Ops, and tokens are being removed entirely from Arena Ops.
    • Each activity category is getting its own loot pool, including a unique weapon and armor set with its own set bonus. This includes Crucible, Competitive Crucible, Trials, Iron Banner, Gambit, and SRL. For the Vanguard, Solo and Fireteam Ops will share an armor set but each will have its own weapon set. Arena Ops and Pinnacle Ops will do likewise, with a shared armor set but unique weapon sets. Arena Ops weapons will also have holofoil variants.
    • Onslaught and other Crawls like Contest of Elders and The Coil are being updated to reintroduce the escalating difficulty, starting however many levels below the selected difficulty before gradually working up to it (select GM Onslaught, the first section will be Expert, second will be Master, third will be GM). Onslaught also has boosted Scrap gains so you can cap out defenses at every location, and revive tokens are removed from it. Bonus loot will also drop at the end of every path in addition to the usual Pinnacle Ops rewards; world loot for Contest of Elders and The Coil, and a reprised BRAVE Arsenal for Onslaught.
  • Gambit...still exists! Its final update is bringing it in line with the rest of the activities with updated rewards rather than any major overhauls to the game mode itself. A new armor set and set bonus as well as a selection of old weapons updated and tiered will be available, with the Gun and Run origin trait being updated to build stacks on defeating targets, burning them while sprinting to partially reload the magazine. All you need to get guaranteed T5 loot is to get to the Primeval phase, so most matches should end with good loot for both teams. Two confirmed returning weapons are Spare Rations (updated to stasis lightweight) and 21% Delirium.
  • For the Crucible, Iron Banner will be available every four weeks for a week, and Trials will continue to be every weekend that Iron Banner isn't on. Trials will also shake things up from time to time, sometimes on one map but sometimes on a variety. Weekly rewards will be from a weapon pool instead of a single focus. 6v6 modes rotate weekly, and 3v3 modes rotate daily until Trials activates. Heavy Metal will also be added to the 3v3 rotation pool, along with a new 4v4 Arena Collision mode that focuses on weapons predominantly.
  • Speaking of Heavy Metal, on top of adding the Cabal Behemoth to the existing Drake Tank and Fallen Brig options, you can now select which vehicle you want to use when you start the match instead of being locked in to one or the other (or go random if you're feeling lucky). The score limit has been dropped from 50 to 40, and there's a new map being added in the wreckage of Nightfall Station from the end of the Renegades campaign.
  • And finally, the return of Sparrow Racing League:
    • You can use Skimmers or Sparrows as you choose, but Skimmers can't rail grind or jump while Sparrows can't flip or roll (no Sparrow flying for you). The goal is for every option to be a fair choice and entirely up to personal preference. (I'm assuming the Gryphon will either have its guns disabled or be banned entirely, but it would be funny to use.)
    • Extra work is being done to ensure that ties are measured more accurately, and in the event of a tie, both players will get the same rewards.
    • New mechanics include a Rocket Boost at the start if you time your initial booster right, and Trick Boosts during the race that will speed you up on landing tricks. Tricks are also remappable on PC.
    • All four of the original maps return, as well as a new map, Quantum Circuit, within the Nine Realms. Boost pads are being added in shortcuts to offset the penalty of missing gates, along with other tweaks to improve the mode overall.
    • Rewards include an entirely new weapon pool with the Featherweight origin trait, where kills increase your movement speed while equipped. There's also a new armor set to acquire, and they revealed the set bonuses for this: Revving Up (fast movement gradually improves health regen, fully revved activates Speed Booster) and Dielectric Drift (sliding while Speed Booster is active jolts targets in front of you). And for cosmetics, new and returning SRL Sparrows, a new SRL Skimmer, and a variety of old SRL shaders will be available, along with finally, finally reintroducing Sparrow Horns to the game (that can also be used on Skimmers).
A really substantial update, lot of good stuff to see, both new and returning. Shame that it still has the cloud of "this is the end" hanging over it, but at least there will be a lot to chew on in the game's twilight period. Another dev article tomorrow with the TWAB, talking about weapons, dungeons and raids, Tower vendor attunement, and more.

Based on what I hear about Halo 2's rushed development and Destiny 2's lack of vision, either Bungie isn't as good a studio as believed or the people in charge of Bungie sabotage them to failure every time.

Yes. King and I have spoken about it before in the thread, but Jason Jones, co-owner, co-creator, and current Chief Visionary Officer; has constantly tried to kill his studio throughout the years. He didn’t want to make halo 2 because he didn’t want bungie to be a “sequel house”, so he dragged the studios feet with other projects (sound familiar?) until Microsoft got pissed and basically yelled at him and they had to rush development. He wasn’t even fucking around for a large part of D2’s development, he fucked off to some mountain retreat for like 6 months in 2016-beginning of 2017. He then came back and started working on, say it with me!

INCUBATION PROJECTS!

He is the reason this studio is going to die, because he hates success and despises the people, including fans, that want more of the projects he deems beneath him.

TLDR, Jason Jones is a retard and killed the funny space soldier game, twice.

Semi-ninja'd, but it seems clear looking at their history that chronic mismanagement has been the biggest issue with Bungie pretty much since its inception. Countless projects were spun up, given large amounts of resources and developers, and then shut down with nothing to show for it. Higher-ups would fuck around for months on whatever they felt like doing instead of what they were contractually required to do. It was a constant cycle of goofing off for a couple of years, then suddenly going into panic mode and crunching hard to get their actual moneymaker out the door when they simply couldn't delay any longer.

Jason Jones in particular is who I'd point a lot of blame at (again, ninja'd). He's notorious for being unable to stick with a project before he gets bored and wants to do something else, even if they're obligated to get the game he's not interested in to release. Because of that, he's not a good leader, at least not of a company the size of Bungie, but he's still in that position because he founded the studio and basically can't be removed. You really can't call it leadership when the man literally fucked off for a couple of years while the studio was trying to figure out how to get Halo 3 to ship. While I don't want to downplay anything he actually did (especially on the earlier games when there were nowhere near as many employees), a lot of his contributions to anything post Halo CE are questionable at best.

And it's sad, because Bungie really does employ a lot of very talented people (or did, anyway). Gameplay, art, music, sound effects, story: there have been so many skilled developers and artists that still managed to shine despite the awful management. Just imagine how much more they could have done if someone a wee bit more competent was at the helm.

Its been a while lol...
The uncontacted human civilization on that blue planet. It was so cringey.
It truly was the worst campaign the game ever had, and coming off the heels of Witch Queen with a mostly solid year of seasonal storylines to boot (aside from the filler season that was Plunder), it only made it look all the worse. Somehow they managed to take the idea of "the architect of the Collapse has finally made it to Sol and it looks like he's gonna fucking win" and made it into a lame filler side quest that only served to delay the actual ending for a year. Seriously, you can cut the entirety of the Lightfall campaign from the Witness's arrival to when he opens the portal into the Traveler and you would lose nothing.

Not only that, but it also completely wasted Calus, a character that had been around since the start of D2 and was one of the more entertaining additions to the series. He finally makes a real appearance after years of being a voice in the shadows, only to be offed unceremoniously as the campaign's final boss. All that buildup for nothing. And there isn't even any real resolution with Caiatl, because of...

Nimbus. Fucking Nimbus. That stupid surfer enby faggot with his stupid voice and stupid face and stupid dialogue and stupid everything. Whenever anyone complains about Lightfall, the number one reason why is Nimbus. The worst character ever added to the series and it's not even close. (I mean, I say that, but then I remember Micah-10's existence, and ugh, that stupid tranny VA that can't act for shit. At least he doesn't appear in TFS's campaign at all, but his stupid voice made me mute dialogue audio for the first time in the game's history just because I couldn't stand listening to it while I was in the Pale Heart. Sorry, digression.) The absolute cringe bomb he dropped at the end of the campaign was just godawful. I skipped as many of the cutscenes as I could when going through on my other characters.

It's funny, though, how much you could improve the story by making one small change: switch who dies. Assuming that you're still going with this story and setting and characters, of course, this is an exercise in improvement and not just tossing it all out and starting over (which they should have done). But consider that the Cloud Striders have a very short lifespan once they've been augmented, ten years if I remember correctly. There are only two at a time, a master and an apprentice, with the master teaching the apprentice the ins and outs of the job before they pass on and the cycle repeats. When Lightfall happens, Rohan is reaching the end of his tenure, but Nimbus is still a cocky and arrogant apprentice, sure of himself but not yet up to the job. Suddenly, Neomuna is under assault by a massive force unlike any they've ever seen, and with these new "Guardians" to help, they start to fight back against them.

And then it comes down to the wire, and Nimbus is the only one that can save the day, but in the process, Nimbus fucking dies. (And there was much rejoicing.) Okay, maybe rewrite Nimbus to be somewhat less annoying so that the audience actually feels bad about it, but still.

There's a lot that you could explore with this sort of scenario in the aftermath of the campaign. Rohan now has to cope with the grief of losing his apprentice and wonders if he's failed as a Cloud Strider. Not only that, but with his own death fast approaching, he is now faced with the tough decision to either try and train a new apprentice in the limited time he has left, or let the line of Cloud Striders die with him. You could write a more relatable story of grief and resolve with Rohan as your Neomuna character, especially compared to the utter nothing we got with Nimbus, where he's back to his stupid faggot dialogue by the next mission and seemingly couldn't care less that his mentor's dead. (Plus Rohan just has a better design too.)

Really makes me wonder just what that original version of Lightfall was that we never got. Pretty much anything would've been better.
