Can't say I am sad. I played it a bit. It was okay. But the world building sucked, the loot mechanics sucked and the dungeons sucked. The Dungeons might have been interesting but the people running them went at them like they were a Sonic level. So you never got to enjoy any of the ambiance.

Good riddance, what a disgrace D2 was from the start, even compared to post light level D1.

RIP Bungie. I'm sure shoehoring in the non binary representation into D2 was totally with it.
I'll never forgive woke dev freaks for ruining one of my most beloved franchises. This game got me through so much and brought me so much fun, even if I did play the entirety of it solo (D1 & D2).

I have over 3000 hours in Destiny 2 across both Steam and Battle.net, although many of those are idle. I haven't played since the Final Shape and had been playing less and less since Witch Queen. Seeing how the game turned out sucks, but that's what happens when trannies and people who don't play the game make em. I'm just glad that it's finally ending and not dragging on forever. I'm sad that the newer storylines like the Nine won't ever get resolved since I think that could've been a genuinely good new direction for the game, minus the Star Wars shit.

Someone better figure out D1 private servers or a PC port ASAP.

well over 2k hours into this franchise, and I'm glad its dead, I hate Bungie, they cannot suffer enough, they won't, but they should, everyone here knows why lol.

I'm especially glad it died after putting out a shameless Star Wars expac, one of the most jarring "canon" crossover cashgrabs I've ever seen.

Honestly get fucked Bungie. Lightfall and that faggot ass silver surfer character was such a huge piece of shit that I quit D2 during the first season and never looked back.

So much potential wasted by greedy business practices and awful faggotry.

Was destiny ever even good? Every time I have ever heard about it people were always complaining how much bungie fumbled the new content and how it's such wasted potential.
Kinda, you basically got the gist of it.

The game had promise because it was an RPG in shooter mode. And it wasn't the first, Borderlands was around for a long time, but it was kinda the one that made it more of a live service, which could have worked if they gave fans any service instead of just selling shit.

Also, it plays REALLY well. The game feel is something they can never take from the game. Its very smooth gameplay and that carried the game a lot. Its just fun to walk around and shoot.

Of note is that there are rumors they had a way more interesting story and gameplay and they were told by someone (Sony or Activision) to simplify the game because gamers are too fucking stupid and just want shooty shoot. I fully believe this because it aligns too well with what we knew at the time regarding lore, and eventually the story went the way these leaks mentioned 10 years before.

So the Guardians (us) are just revived corpses by something called the traveler, thats the big ball that shows up in all posters. That also explains in story why we always come back, our ghost (which is the little machine that accompanies you, used to be Peter Dinklage voice) revives you because of "the light" of the Traveler.
No one knows what the traveler is, just showed up one day and then people got like superpowers and society advanced a lot.

Thats how the game goes. But the part that they cut out was that we were more like zombies and we were essentially doing evil things because we were being puppeteer by the Traveller. Like being minions to a necromancer. This means that maybe we werent so virtuous in our goals and we werent just the good guys fighting the bad guys, its a bit more complex than that.

Theres also another race (The Fallen) that USED to be the chosen from the Traveler, but they were abandoned so now they are cucked and lightless. They were just retconned to be "they are just evil because we say so" so we just blast em, and fuck aliens I guess.

This is an infinitely more interesting story but the high ups thought it was "too complex" to sell it to us. They purposely made the game stupider to have more mass appeal because the kids don't get it and they would just be sad about not being the hero for 1 second. They legit asked Bungie to sloppify it.

Of note is that this was meant to be basically Activision's CoD but with a bit of RPG and in space, for people that wanted more RPG in their shooting, kinda like a more Action Mass Effect. So supposedly there were a lot of rewrites and it fucked the game forever even before launch of Destiny 1. Their whole foundation was fucked because they had to put a bunch of shit together in a very short time frame to keep the deadlines.

Honestly we don't know what is true here because its just leaks, and they are VERY old, but I genuinely believe this 100% in my heart because everything fits, including old story stuff that was in the game (like grimoire cards). Theres videos about it if you wanna know more.

Marathon really did kill Destiny. Then killed itself. It's probably the first murder suicide story in gaming. A developer abandons what made them successful and tries to chase a trend, while ultimately killing both live service games they worked on for years. They both are now going to die slow and apathetic deaths. Hope Sony enjoyed burning over 3 billion dollars of this now shitshow of a company.
Even after all these years, neither Sony nor Microsoft get that the Bungie that created was only good because of their employees. They really had struck gold by having so many talented people working under one roof.

They should have used those billions to buy, and keep the talent. It would had been far cheaper to give fat bonuses to the devs.

As is they just wasted billions just to buy washed up names that had none of the prestige they once had. Marathon, Halo, and Destiny. Bungie itself doesn’t have the prestige it once had.

Loyalty to your employees doesn't benefit short term quarterly earnings. This is just what happens when a company gets big enough. The people in charge of the company are no longer the people that put out the product, instead its just suits that have no connection to what they're selling.

Bungie hit their zenith with Halo 2-3. I think the biggest problem with Bungie today is that they’re way too obsessed with live service slop. Nobody wants endless live service slop. What I want is a story driven game with PvP multiplayer. Halo was among the best FPS at one point and today it’s dead.

Likewise, Destiny has a similar fate. A unique concept thrown down the dustbin. Marathon is the same story. A game that should’ve have single player elements but instead it’s more extraction slop. Hit and a miss with Bungie.

That's true, but that's also most of the companies back in the day. That's why Obsidian felted Bethesda by making the best 3D Fallout of all time, and Bethesda just cannot replicate it despite having infinite money.

I think that companies got too large for the talent to shine in current year, at least in AAA market. Most AAA games that end up being good feel like it was just a fluke.

Even if you are in a high up position in a company, there is always one retard above that has the final say that will ruin everything (at Bethesda for example, that would be either Todd or Pagliarulo), AND you also have the shareholders to put their dick into the development to demand you to get a season pass and infinity skin DLC or some shit.

I wish it actually was dead. I wish Bungie never sold the IP to 343, I wish they would have killed it after Halo 3. ODST was a flop and Reach was a return to form and a pretty serious and successful comeback but that really should have been the end for Halo.

Instead, even the greatest IP of all time has been converted into live-service slop by a developer that essentially wrapped the games in shaders and pushed them back out all the while absolutely ass-blasting any semblance of a good multiplayer experience.

Bungie is truly a story about how far the mighty can fall.

Crossposting... it's over.

Destiny is officially dead.
Surprised it lasted this long. I got bored the second I realized there is no point to play the game. First was that it is just percentage based where you always do a set percent of damage to the enemy, and second, I got my light level or whatever it was called as high as I could at the EDZ church. Just ran circles killing the boss and enemies for a couple hours. Eventually the numbers stopped going up. Guess I should've spent more time giving them money.
