Destiny 2 - Place your bets on how many $40 DLC packs we'll get this time.

  • The Kiwi Farms was targeted with a historic DDoS attack last week. Confirmed reports of 2.8Tbps on an individual provider, topping 4.8Tbps when known volumes are added together, and possibly up to 8Tbps if the attacker is believed. This is the third of fourth largest recorded.

the funny thing is that destiny 2 has a lot of things to grind for and they went for the BL3 grind style of random bullshit stat number sorting so you'll never have that perfect roll you want so you can keep running on that loot wheel like a good hamster...
also they still haven't added matchmaking for raids, lol, they really think their shit doesn't stink.
To be fair, after over a decade of playing these games, I have more than enough experience to say conclusively that the average player is kind of retarded and has a hard time handling even the most basic mechanics in matchmade activities. You start throwing randies into matchmade raids, even dumbed down and simplified, and they're gonna fart around for maybe ten minutes before people start bailing and the whole thing falls apart.

Seriously, imagine six randos attempting even an easier boss like Templar, to say nothing of encounters like the Vault or Rhulk or Verity. It would not end well.

We'll have to see how the Adventure mode for Pantheon plays out, since I'm assuming that will still require a premade group. But if it does well, then that'll be another thing to add to the "could have been" pile, like porting Explorer mode from Rite of the Nine to all the other dungeons in the game.

and you lost me because i've read this typa excuse in steam discussions many times before, go premade if you don't want to deal with that shit, i don't want to deal with some faggot that watched a 1 hour video about the correct way to do the raid, i want to bang my head with other retards and have fun while we fuck around else i would have downloaded the faggoty app for finding raid groups a long time ago.

i just tried doing a legendary lost sector with a bunch of omolon guns, what a massive fucking waste of time because of the champions, their last post admitting they knew it was a programmed cancer just shows what kind of scum bungo devs are, suffah bungo.

>You
You don't want to deal with that either. Do you want to spend 2 hours in the gorgon maze because no one knows the 2 minute path to the end or some tard keeps getting noticed? You don't, or at least I highly doubt it. Matchmaking for raids will never work or be a thing in destiny nor most FPS MMO's. And this is coming from someone who's be destiny raiding since VoG launched and has been Sherpaing for long time. Even a group of absolute randoms with no thumbs made through LFG leddit or groomchord is going to do better than 5 micless guys you find in the tower.
i don't want to deal with some faggot that watched a 1 hour video about the correct way to do the raid.
Even when I guide new players, they'll usually have watched a guide or read one prior. It's good for them to familiarize themselves beforehand anyways. Get a look at the arena and a general idea of the roles. Watching is much different than doing but it's easier to teach someone who at least has some idea of what's going on.

What it sound like you want is a 'blind' raid, which you're about a decade late for. The only people who wanted or did run blind were day 1 raids racers or groups of friends who went in blind as a team. I'll even argue that if a MM existed for raids now, most people would leave or kick you if you started telling them you knew nothing and wanted to go in blind. Because at this point in the games life people just want to clear and get it done, they don't want to wait for someone to "figure it out" while they are assigning roles and discussing mechanics of a "solved" raid.

If you want to run blind raids now, your best bet is to download the "faggy app" and look for others wanting to do that. Matchmaking for raids isn't going to nor would have ever provided the experience you're looking for. It's not just a skill level thing, it's impossible to match players based on what kind of experience they want and that's before I get into all of the other stuff that the MM wouldn't account for.

I always wanted to make that choice (matchmaking) for myself, no matter the content. My own bad choices are better than Bungie's best ones, every fucking time.

Anyway, glad that retarded game is dying, along with the same old Reddit arguments surrounding it.

Honestly, I feel like destiny1/2 might outlive Bungie at this point. D1 is still swinging way above its weight for a 12 year old game. And D2 has a surprising amount of life left in it for just being EoL'ed. Bungie doesn't seem like they make it out of this year without being absorbed by Sony, but Sony wants their money so I don't see that causing either games servers to be shuttered. Especially if Marathon gets brought behind the shed before Christmas.

why do you assume things about persons that aren't you?

yes? if i didn't i wouldn't bring that up, i've wasted far more hours on other nobrainer fpses that had raiding matchking because some tard got killed or missed the shoot window to kill a boss after hours of failed attempts for a shitty 1 hour time limit item, what makes destiny 2 any different than that? i mean gayer? sure, including the wipe mechanics but different? nope, failure is all the same.

this is wow raiding, fucking wow raiding mindset, you mentioning a specific archetype of player that goes against the archetype of player i stand for already makes this whole thing retarded, which part of me saying GO FUCKING PREMADE IF YOU DON'T WANT THAT SHIT you didn't read?

's what i've seen with many detracting points against matchmaking for bungo raids, like "ooh you don't need matchmaking because these raids are super-duper ultra complex and shieet and you need a sherpa to be a smug faggot about it because you can fail a long progress dungeon at anytime"

as if the people that actually want to matchmake the activity without retarded hoops like destiny2 guardian app give a shit about that, this feels like the retared faggoted elitism of old wow raids, i want to click the fucking activity, i want to click launch and wait then play, i don't care about the wipe shit, i don't care about how many hours will be wasted, it's my fucking time and if i didn't have time to play this fucking game i wouldn't be playing it in the first place.

Reading all that just made it a shame that nobody even bothered porting Destiny 1 to PC. (Although Sony might hold on to that card as a "break in case of emergency" box.)
That's not from D1, not really. It's mostly left overs from the Beta/Alpha build which had a real story (the one where the traveller turned out to be evil) and certain elements escaped the cutting room floor. Likely an oversight. I'd love that build to leak.

Wow, when you get the community excited with genuinely good changes/content you get more players….

Huh, who knew?
So what did they change in the final patch? I was told it was what players wanted for years and yet Bungie never gave.

On the topic of D1 alpha left overs, did they ever explain the origins and purpose of exos, and Clovis Brea?
Did they ever resolve the Future War Cult, and New Monarch? (I guess what became of Dead Orbit as well)

When I stopped playing, Clovis Brea was the focus of the plot, but it was clearly nu-destiny fanfiction and not what was supposed to be about.

it's still indev but most of the things are many qol changes like being able to tier up your guns but i think it's only for new guns so your old shit will remain old, removing the need for retarded gunsets as champion-breaking mods are now per gun, even though they could have gone with the fucking mods just like back in the day when they rolled the fucking champion update but nah, there's always these tiny fuck-yous bungie does every time, even in death they still give you the middle finger because fuck you that's why.

Dev articles have been posted upthread and I've added some summaries (still kind of long because I'm shitty at brevity). With regards to actual content, the big stuff is Distortions (hour-long events on various destinations buffing difficulty and rewards), Pantheon 2.0 (a reprisal of the boss rush mode from before TFS) and the long-awaited return of SRL from D1. Systems-wise, a massive loot refresh making pretty much every activity relevant again, simplifying the Portal to not take so much setup to start an activity, adding catalysts to all remaining exotic weapons, and throwing in a bunch of old artifacts for good measure. There's a lot more (and still more previews to come), but those are the highlights in my opinion.

With regards to lore stuff, obviously I can't speak for what may or may not have been the original intention, but the gist of it is Clovis Bray used what he called "Clarity" (some Darkness power related to the Europa Pyramid he found) and Vex nanomachines to create Exos as essentially an evolved humanity in your usual "fuck mortality I'm gonna live forever" kind of story. He eventually succeeded in uploading himself to an Exo mind from which he could oversee operations on Europa, then implanted a copy of himself in another body which later rebelled, fought off the Vex he'd unleashed on Europa, and after dozens of resets eventually became Banshee-44, the gunsmith, with no more memory of who he'd been. The giant head Clovis was reawakened by us after we crashed the orbital station into the Deep Stone Crypt. He popped up again in Season of the Seraph where he wanted to take control of Rasputin's warsat network directly, but he got locked out of the system and hasn't really been heard from since. (Or ever, now.)

As for the factions, they all went kaput after Season of the Splicer. FWC had a lot of egg on their face after Lakshmi-2 incited violence against the House of Light refugees, even to the extent of aiding a Vex incursion into the city, and when she got killed by the Vex in the process, the whole faction disbanded. New Monarchy was supportive of FWC's efforts and also skeedaddled out of there after the invasion was stopped, and Dead Orbit had had enough of everything and just left. Really it was just Bungie's way of saying "stop asking about factions, we're done, we're not doing anything with them anymore," even though they still left all their regalia up in the Tower.

I mean, is it really that big of a deal to not be able to pick exactly the anti-champ effect you want for every single gun? Every single weapon category in the game will have multiple anti-champion options without even needing to do anything special, just pick the intrinsic and go. This also makes it more likely that some rando in your group can actually counter champs even accidentally, and you don't have to rely on them slotting a mod in before starting the activity. Maybe it sucks if your particular favorite gun doesn't happen to match the champion you want it to, but considering the fact that this applies to every weapon in the game giving you hundreds of options to choose from (even old stuff), on top of exotics and elemental keyword anti-champ counters, I don't think it will be an issue that your Bygones can't stun an Overload champ.

they could have fixed that by adding a anti-champion slot and giving the mods there, ggez, just like it used to be minus taking an actual useful mod slot...
but no, they need to give that fuck-you to people because fuck you that's why.
and you don't have to rely on them slotting a mod in before starting the activity.
someone plays with equipment lock... a good chunk of the stuff you can do with randoms don't use equipment lock, the ones that you are required to premade however? they do.
because bungie knows what they are doing...

Funny, because most of the high-level matchmade stuff also locks your equipment, and has for years. Meanwhile, dungeons and raids (that you're very mad about requiring premades for some reason) don't. Almost like there isn't a real pattern there.

Would an extra mod slot have worked? Sure. Is it easier than sticking an extra anti-champ effect on every intrinsic frame in the game, things that already exist, that will just work across every weapon archetype and require no additional effort on the players' part? I would argue no.

While it can hurt a bit the champions related changes are just to make sure that grandmaster (or whatever it called now) meta would not be just stuck in the meta defined by weapon mods from final artifact.

the free player pattern where all of the portal shit has the matchmaking on partially disagrees with that (not to mention the shit that has matchmaking off in the portal stuff too, requiring steam/D2 app), is there a problem?
also you didn't notice i said a good chunk of stuff...

art thou destiny 2's strongest soldier just like marathong has one too?

I'm just saying, there's criticism and then there's complaining for the sake of complaining. Champion counters have been pretty much a non-issue ever since elemental keywords were added, and this just makes it even easier while removing the annoyance of being locked in to specific weapon archetypes for champions (which would be even worse with no new artifacts ever). It would honestly be impressive in this new system if you were somehow only capable of countering a single champion type with a build. Like, you would almost have to be deliberately trying. Between three weapons (legendary and exotic), weapon perks and abilities that apply keywords, and exotic armor that can add another counter to an ability, stunning at least two champions should be laughably simple, and most players will probably end up able to counter all three without even trying too hard.

And even  then, there's plenty of content where champs don't even show up at all (like, yet again, nearly all normal mode dungeon and raid encounters), so for all of that, it simply doesn't matter period.

In particular, this piece of shit, the senior narrative designer when the change was made:

These kind of people infuriate me to no end. You can be gay but do you really have to be such a faggot about it? It took a billion dollar corporate entity to force people to listen to your stories of sucking black cock in the nightclub bathroom stalls.

And how has your queerness benefited your team? Is it like IT and you fucked the whole department to bring unity to the team?

In relation to the Clovis Bray stuff, there was a retcon in Season of The Seraph. Rasputin was changed to having been always intended to destroy the Traveller and replace it as Humanity's machine god, controlled by Clovis Bray, only for Ana to have changed him.

Why did everything have to turn into gay shit and daddy issues? Oh wait, they go hand in hand in the faggots and foids that took over Destiny and permeate Bungie. How silly of me. Probably a reflection of their cult leader, Jason Jones, who I now always picture as follows:
1780256643930.png
"NO DAD, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR MY ACTIONS... NO ALEX, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO MARATHON 2... NO BILL, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO HALO 2... NO BOBBY, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO DESTINY 2..."
