It's important to recognize that people who are recruited into the trans cult did not arrive there because they made a rational choice to join. Cults and similar high control groups get their hook on people through emotional manipulation; they offer you something you need like a sense of purpose and belonging, relief from anxiety and self-doubt, or secret knowledge that will allow you to transcend yourself (in this case, hormones and surgery). Because of this, appeals to logic and reason don't work very well in getting people out of cults.
Cults also go further in their control through phobia indoctrination: by telling their members that those who are not inside of the cult are Unsafe. One of the most common doctrines of transgenderism is that transition is the only solution; if you don't transition, you will suffer more and more until you die of suicide. Anyone who expresses even the mildest skepticism about transitioning therefore wants you to die, because they are a bigot. There is absolutely no other reason. Only other cult members can Love you and Save you.
Therefore, rebuilding trust is the first step in getting someone out of the trans cult. Express curiosity rather than judgment. If you come across as hostile, you increase the likelihood that your loved one will shut down. Instead, remind them of the person that they were before they trooned out, and carefully wean them off of the cult's dependency.
