Something I've noticed is he doesn't refer to himself as being black or even African American, but as "of African descent". I get the impression his family has rejected their recent American history in favor of their more distant African one. I mention it because it's a reoccurring theme with his self insert.

We sure this isn't not fetish art? Because with the way it's framed, it kinda does. That or it's a parody, given the expression of that Rhinosaurus Beetle and the other insects.
