Oh man. Ethics of Irreverence and Worshipping Weakness. Really fooled me into thinking this man is actually intelligent. Turns out his brain is a part-time employee and his ass and mouth are full-time.

Dev is bad at real-time content but he is a good essayist. When he takes the time and puts in the effort, he can make some good content. But Dev is lazy, and react content gets good views for less work, and why put all that effort into an essay when you can get 80% of the results for 20% of the effort? And his channel slowly declines in quality.

What usually comes next is slow decline in quality -> slower decline in reputation -> slow decline in views. But it's a slow process and most creators don't understand and so double down on a failing strategy thereby killing their channel. It's not easy to realize that it's about reputation (for quality or lack of it) because reputation is won and lost so slowly that noticing its cause and effect is rare.

Although I just checked the views on his videos, and he's still doing surprisingly well. 60k-120k views which is really good for a channel with 160k subs. Surprisingly consistent too.

So eh, maybe he's doing fine? Or maybe we're just so early that there's not been a meaningful effect on views yet.

P.S Why in the actual fuck would Dev support Gator now?! Didn't he attack the VTuber fandom when it came to Pikamee and shit? Is this his way of regaining favor among those scorned fans? Fucking pathetic bro.

Nah, Gator is interacting with Kiki who is a pedo-baiter and doesn't seem all that popular. I'll summarize in a moment, but if you really want all the info you can jump to Null's post here and read for ~6 pages, or just watch the clip in this post. Whenever it comes to summing up a multitude of philosophy books or theories with a fuckton of sources down into an hour long video, Dev is your guy. It's why one of my favorite videos of his is the "three forms of fascism" one, as well as those vids where he breaks down the various ideologies and their arguments to their major components, fallacies, assumptions, etc.

However, due to his fat ass trying to fence-sit, even in areas where most people in general can see "dude, this can totally be blamed on (insert group/person/ideology) for this thing! The only thing left is for them to actually come out and admit it.", this guy will straddle and try to find any possible other reason why it's "nobody's fault/both sides' fault", which is fucking retarded and probably the reason he's so annoying here.

Stellar Blade went gold on April 9th, 2024. The Demo came out March 29th. The supposed lawyering up of the fashion industry that freaked the developers out occurred February 2024. Both the demo and the game released with the full costumes intact, which were altered in a day 1 patch. This is important for context because it means:

If it were a copyright issue, the devs were aware of the potential problems ahead of time due to the preliminary release of the demo, and the game releasing months after the fashion industry lawyering up. Also, a patch wouldn't have changed much. The devs still released a demo after all and would have printed disks containing infringing works in this scenario. So either the costumes aren't protected by copyright, their usage was fair use, or they had a licence to use them. Censorship makes much more sense to me. Sony has censored other things for less, and use them as a sort of loyalty pledge power move over studios they publish; bend the knee and kiss the ring.

Dev continues to betray here that he thinks any censorship with an psudo-legal explanation isn't actually censorship. "Oh, well they needed to do it to comply with the terms and conditions, so it's not censorship guys! It was to comply with copyright guys! The government/platform said it wasn't, so it's not!" This sort of Leaf stands by as hate-speech laws are implemented and defends the government's usage of them.
