@Aydin Paladin so... thoughts?
Yeah, I just woke up to this, and I said this on Twitter, as has been posted, but I genuinely don't understand what additional context this adds that changes anything about him relating my husband to sex trafficker and all-around sex-pest, "weirdo", Andrew Tate. I have no clue what he thinks this proves or adds to anything besides that we were friends at the time. From my perspective, and again this was a private conversation with someone I considered to be a friend, I felt uncomfortable with him talking to me about my sexuality or about anything related to sex and I wanted to shift the topic back to politics, which given he related my husband to literal sex criminal, Andrew Tate, seemed like the reasonable shift. I also don't know what he thinks the heart emoji he drew an arrow toward indicates, again, other than that we were friends and that I was glad he said he was going to read
Liberty or Equality, which is my favorite political philosophy book that I bang on about all the time.
Maybe it's just me being autistic, maybe it's a woman thing, maybe it's just a me thing, I really don't know which, probably a bit of all three, but when a male friend starts talking weirdly and sexually to me, which has happened with more people than Dev, it just happens sometimes when men and women talk, I get it; I don't want to immediately break off that friendship just because they said something that made me uncomfortable immediately. I just wanted to go back to talking about politics. In retrospect, when Dev "cut me out" because I had the audacity to ask for his side of Uzalu and Scrump's stories explaining why he hated them, yes, I looked back on that interaction with particular disgust. I have never, ever, said anything to Dev, even when we used to talk regularly, about his relationship with Naomi, let alone sexually, to say nothing about relating her to, I suppose in this context, Pearl Davis (?). I don't know, insert whatever the female equivalent of relating your partner to a human trafficker would be. Even now, I see no reason to involve Naomi at all. My issue is with Dev, not his girlfriend.
In hindsight, I should have just told him that what he was saying made me uncomfortable, but at that time I didn't want to damage the friendship by coming off as rude or prudish. That is ultimately my fault. He kept asking that I show proofs of where he said Bill was abusive, and I think that relating him to Andrew Tate certainly was evidence of that, so I posted it. Maybe that's not what he meant and he was just flirting or something, but he's so bad faith it's sort of impossible to tell. Text is all low in media richness. I genuinely do not understand what "context" he thinks this adds though, again.
