I can actually explain this - and the answer is particularly autistic. And here I figured he was seething because the anime girls playing vidya are getting more views and support than his streams.
Honestly, Dev losing his mind over Vtubers is fucking retarded; most of them (at least the popular ones) seem to be ACTUALLY playing the games/watching the vids unlike many of the popular titty-streamers and such. So him trying to conflate the two makes him look retarded and kinda jealous.
Think back to when the thot community first got outmanuevered by Projekt Melody making their business model functionally irrelevant by offering a better product. Many commentators of the time covered it, but you'll notice that one curious omission was Dev himself. It was a flashpoint issue, nicely encapsulated a particularly hated demographic of the interwebs getting outmaneuvered in the most capitalist way possible, so what's the issue?
Dev's autistic stance against Pikamee might lead you to believe that he took that stance simply over being a retard, and that's certainly possible, but knowing what I do about Dev and his inner circle, I have a very a different take: Dev is one of DFD's simps and DFD was trying hard to float Spooki, so Dev's take against Pikamee was a more personal one than he lets on: After all, DFD is widely believed to be a troon, and Spooki absolutely might be, and that would help explain the sperging. But why loose venom against them?
Fact is, Vtubing is not an easy job by any stretch. It takes more than tits and a copy of OBS to do that job effectively, you have to have good presence and work your ass off at it. The Vtubing profession is absolutely fucking cutthroat unless you're in a big network, with constant little power struggles going on behind the scenes. Most are pretty cool with a "we all pull together" attitude, but you also absolutely have vtubers willing to kneecap one another for a leg up on the competition.
There are indie tubers who put everything into making content for the audiences they have and who legitimately fight and struggle because this nerdy hobby is their (at least part-time) job, and they treat it as such. They have to fight against things both normal and well outside their control like Twitter shadowbanning them over a mass report and giving them no out. A huge number of them burn out, and it's tragic to see. But at the opposite end of the spectrum of vtubers who put in no work and instead try to parasitize their way to fame, and Spooki is a great example. You can't even fucking *find* Spooki's content online now, and we know that Kirsche's refusal to collab with Spooki was why DFD went hot against her (and continues to rage against her). But why?
Kirsche is an admittedly reasonably big fish in a reasonably big pond. Her collabing with others can and has helped float smaller accounts towards their own success. But what do you do when you have a vtuber who cheerfully takes unembellishedly oppositional viewpoints, doesn't give a damn about calling out shit like the Hogwarts Legacy shitstorm and the terrible fucking things, and is already hated by the troons? Well you have a justifiable target right there.
Short version: Kirsche said no because Spooki was a literal fucking unknown, but DFD going hot against her has little to do with that, no matter what DFD claims. DFD is very likely a troon, and what little history we've dug up shows DFD was (and still is) wildly unstable. Throw in the sheer volume of cases of DFD and her followers using sock accounts, Dev strongly being suspected of being CameraLady, and similar, and you may have pieced together that DFD was hoping that the Spooki collab would have allowed them to kneecap Kirsche - or at the very least, jumpstart Spooki to relevance. But it didn't work, the receipts dropped, and Spooki's fucking gone now.
Dev taking the positions he has isn't coincidence, given DFD is still in his inner circle.
He's doing it for DFD, and there's nothing but sour grapes there after every attempt to kneecap Kirsche (or parasitize her popularity) failed.
