He's not really paying her, it's basically another chore for her to do around the house. She worked at a grocery store (probably the same one her and Dev met at) and quit her job for an unknown reason. As far as I'm aware, Dev barely makes enough to cover rent, which was almost $2,000 CA I think? So Dev is very much living hand to mouth currently.

Dev's big issue with the Right comes from the fact that the Right isn't content to just push the encroaching progressive out of their "spaces."

Right-wing ideologies lean further way from liberalism then Centrist and Left-wing ideologies. But the latter were infested and handicapped by Progressivism and Socialism so severely that now with the political pendulum swinging their direction, the Right is in the prime position to make gains of it's own. And Dev doesn't like it. He would rather prefer a return to the era of politics where the Right was mostly just an opposition party that occasionally had to do the unpopular thing that was nonetheless needed for the State. As oppose to the Right genuinely gaining power and using it to create policy in its own interest.

And that is the sticking point. Dev may have hated the Progressive wank and the commie shit, but those were merely radicalized offshoots of his true position of center-left liberalism. As opposed to the Right-wing which opposed that true position. What Dev wanted was for Liberal members to reign in the Far-Left and get their act together. But they didn't and now the Right is in power.

Furthermore, the reason his calls of hypocrisy aren't sticking in his criticism of the Right is due to a single thing. The Far-Left waged a war of extermination of the Right. Doing everything in its power to not just remove Right-wing as a political block, but literally trying to stamp it out completely. Violence included. Those who remember Gamergate, 2016, 2020, and Covid understand that the Left still sees them as an enemy to be killed, not as an opposing voice to be debated. And thus is making the first move and doing the same. Dev does not understand this and is either assuming the Right was always this power-hungry or fascistic. Like, he called out Trump for choosing for loyalty First and foremost but ignores the fact that in his first term he didn't and several cabinet members betrayed him during and after his term.

He's not. That was written a long time ago, but Dev "soft-abandoned" the platform once Sargon was banned from it for off-site behavior. He didn't pull away from it out of principle, just stopped updating it and said he was waiting for Patreon to ban him. So he passively collected an income from the site, waiting for a ban to never come because he could never match the same level of notoriety of Carl "I wouldn't even rape you" Benjamin.

Interestingly you can probably track Dev's political leanings by putting the leanings of Lilith Lovett on a six-to-twelve month delay. Dev used to consider himself more of a libertarian type when Lilith did, including the "free speech extremist" position that rose to prominence as part of Gamergate, but as Lilith moderated away from that position to just being a run-of-the-mill progressive troon, Dev started more publicly decrying libertarianism and started eating more shoe leather instead.

Dev's political affiliations seem to more closely align with "what tranny is he currently chasing," and since Lilith seems to be his perpetual fallback for when whatever troon inevitably dumps him over his past videos, he just modulates to her* position. If Lilith ever does join the 41% club, it would be interesting to see how long it'd take for Dev to follow suit.
