So Diablo IV just got added to Game Pass this week:
Your Xbox account needs to be linked to your Battle.net account for Game Pass to work with it on PC since the game uses the Battle.net launcher.

Diablo IV seemed a bit underwhelming when I played up to level 20 during the free weekend back in November, but I want to see more of the game before I make any final decisions about it. This will probably be a repeat of Diablo III for me where I uninstall the game right after finishing the story.

D 1/2 magic will not be captured ever again, we live in age of streamers chasing for that hard-core clout. In early days there was borderline lolcow by handle of KingKongor that used to stream D3 for his paypiggies, AthenWins found a money laundering cult.
Modders were the closest things to producing that magic, but the only active modders are the Median XL guys and some Russian dude who makes a shitty Diablo 1 mod (The Hell). Unfortunately, the Median Xl fags sold their souls and project to a Crypto company that deals with NFTs, and the Diablo 1 mod from the Russian dude is very hit and miss (the balance is a fucking joke, level layouts suck, Iron man modes are worthless, and the Russian guys hates criticism and feedback that aren't asspats). Grim Dawn as good as it is will never capture the eerie horror and mysticism of Diablo 1. There's Project Diablo 2, I guess.

Thanks to mentality set PoE Devs on top of Blizzard's buy Battlepass 4 with talent and voice actors dead dropping left and right. ARPGs won't experience PalWorld effect.
Lore building, ambiance, original content, right casting and voice work made D1 what it was, great. New metagame is all about ladder, watch numbers go high, real money cash shops and bright colors. Diablo 1 was a lightning in a bottle moment, only a niche want to go back to tradition or quit their addiction inducing games over ambience.
People who remember what D1 was are fucking old and aren't getting any younger. Late millennials, zoomers and generation alpha are bottle fed instant gratification and addictive features. ARPGs are going through dark age which will never end. Grim Dawn was overshadowed by the competition, niche appeal and the fun factor that older titles had is missing.

Doesn't help that industry is filled with greedy fucks alongside modders. There is no way back only shilled 6/10 games with journalist given awards. Mediocrity is the new norm.

This is likely to try for a "second push" with the changes alleged to be coming down the pipe. AKA a "Reaper of Souls" patch.

I guess it says it all that there hasn't been a post on this since Season 4 and Loot Reborn started. I tried to get back into this game, but I gave up partway through the story campaign and I just have no desire to continue. Such an utterly bland story. Oh, Lilith is back and is totally evil but also kinda cool lol, now go save this random brown peasant girl for reasons.

I found out yesterday it's on gamepass since I don't pay attention to it. 14 day "trial" for a dollar, wow.
Having not played since the beta it's alright, at least I can actually use the druid class buff now. They should just make the game free with all the premium battlepass shit and 50 dollar armor sets they sell in the store.

You can skip the campaign but I think you have to go through it once to unlock horses? I don't know I'm still lazing my way through.

Yeah, so you can choose to skip the campaign and still have to walk everywhere, or suffer through the story to cut down slightly on the time spent traversing the open world. Speaking of which, the world was another problem I had with the game. The whole world is just a web of paths, all the scenery just kind of blends together. That plus the zoomed-in camera gives me a sense of detachment from the world, much unlike D2 and even D3.

Simps would have you believe that it's because people are just busy having fun with the game.

Nah. Shit sucks. People found tons of time to talk about D1/D2 years afterwards.
Even if they were, there'd still be people at least bitching about it as no matter how fun or good something is there will be some number of people to complain about something, if no one is even talking about it, it's a dead game. I know when I played D4, I didn't hate it as much as I just didn't give a shit about it despite being big into D1/D2.

It was an okay but forgettable game. The lack of new loot and cash shop locking away what should be farmable loot in a diablo game was unforgivable and the forced diversity in the cast was all the more reason to stop caring. They also expected you to care about characters you literally just met that came off as hysterical more than emotional.

I think I mentioned it earlier in the thread but I hated the random characters you met, it felt like you were playing bodyguard to two randos who were doing everything interesting and making quips to one another. It was like being a third wheel on a date but you had to stand around and fight waves of boring mobs.

This seems to be an issue with Blizzard design, they either give all the shit to the NPCs to do, think Thrall killing Death Wing, or the adventure board where your followers went out and did all the questing while you sat in your garrison, or even in D3 where the boss would constantly pester you which made them come off as comical and annoying as opposed to threatening.

Diablo 4 base price is now 50 dollars.
The expansion if you already own Diablo 4 is 40 dollars.
If you don't own either you can get both for 70 dollars.

They really can't help fleecing their early adopters.

Also here's your mercenaries, hope you enjoy fat niggers and ugly old women

New class looks fucking retarded, no one wanted a jungle nigger, they wanted a crusader or paladin.

They haven't shown any gameplay of it of course, it's probably not even close to being done.

From what I understand, people finished the campaign and forgot about it. It's not like it has a branching storyline or compelling choices or crucial decision points that change the outcome of the game (compare/contrast BG3). The attempt to WoW-ify the end game didn't land like they hoped.

I played it for a little bit but couldn't get into it. The character building felt super linear and only five quick slots left me scratching my head.

Fucking gay! I remember hoping they'd add the crusader or paladin at a later time. And the naked greed is nauseating. Three versions of the fucking thing, not including the base game/expansion bundle. Not surprised by it, but still. Absolutely shameless.
