This might maybe impact the odd retard somehow running insight with a spirit shield.
Hello, retard here. I'm sure there are better set-ups but I don't have the runes for them and Insight/Spirit has been working well enough, plus my merc dies too much to give him the Insight and I want the Meditation. I've already been thinking about switching to either a Grief or whatever the most damage for a phase blade would be to avoid repairing the weapon every 5 minutes. I also found a decent rare book with +2 skills and other mods to compare to Spirit other than FCR. I was thinking about using that or hunting for the one good unique book, but then I'll still need a better weapon that preferably doesn't need to be repaired. I'm sure Echoing Strike builds will be ok after people start experimenting after the patch, but the durability loss and needing attack rating to hit is going to be a pain in the ass to get around at first. Demon Mastery and Binding needing hard points is going to suck too, I'll have to wait and see how my points redistribute if it's worth it to keep the big Hephasto tank or if I should look for a list of the best normal demons to just get an aura that amplifies damage and spam Defilers to spread it around.

On another note, I might have made another retarded move and made all of my characters for Ladder so they could share items, but I now learned that everything resets once the new season starts. I know the characters will just move to the standard mode so I can keep playing them, but are there any preparations I should make with my inventory so I don't lose any of the items? I've already started to move gear around to the specific characters for their personal inventory, but should I also start to move things like high runes or materials like the keys and essences or are those things only for ladder anyways? Are there any other general/beginner tips I should know as it pertains to season changes? I guess now I know to just stay in standard since I'm mostly playing casually and still trying to learn everything, but maybe next season I'll just make one or 2 ladder characters, like a barb to do full magic find plus whatever class I like best to get through the rush to lvl 99. It would have been another Warlock, but now I'm not sure.

I just had my first "experience" with trying an Uber run. Quotes because it's complete bullshit and I literally couldn't do anything. Spent the last couple days farming Nihlathak for the last 2 keys since I already had about 18 from Countess runs and 4 from Summoner. Got my last key this morning and made the 3 portals, get through them with relatively no problems since it's still pre-nerf Echoing Strike. Then I get ready and make the portal to Tristram, I start to feel my controller shake as the loading screen is taking a long time, then I'm already dead by the time the screen changes because Mephisto is right on top of the portal. I tried it 3 more times thinking maybe I could run away fast enough but every time I'm killed during the loading screen. So that was a shitload of fuck. Why can't they at least put the portal in the corner of the map like the regular Tristram? I guess I'm just never gonna have a torch because fuck going through all that shit again.

Lord of Hatred is up for preload.

Despite my better judgement, I'm getting excited. Necromancers can finally have several dozen minions at once, with the potential to escalate further. The skill tree revamps do look wonderful even if I'm not really not a math dude.

I honestly quite like diablo 3's take on necro. Bunch of no-effort minions and then using spells and mages to empower them. Was funny seeing them all marionette-like fucking zip across the field to attack a target. Anyway: My love for pet builds in all games comes from playing D2 offline, being scared of being alone as a kid and thus playing necro. With time however I've come to prefer 2-3 strong minions, ie D2 druid, but D3 druid fucking blows. I'm hoping Warlock in D4 is gonna cover my urges. Also, the female ones being ripped as shit is a plus.

Still, I love the white/blue ghastly necro vibe of Diablo.. All these kind of ability modifiers in ARPGs are always the most interesting to pet builds. Instead of "Uhh now your meteor splits into 3!!!!", it's shit like "your minions now have a rot aura" or "your golem is on fire". I preordered D4 and I hope to give it a real proper try with Warlock, maybe even get hype enough to beat D2.

Every time I think back on D3, I remember how hype that game was. How much new shit they tried, added, and then removed, which is fucking nuts compared to games today. A bad feature made it into a wow expansion? It'll be used for at least 2 more expansions.

My previous overview of Project Diablo 2
images (1)_1.jpeg

Project Diablo 2's new season will be starting around the time I finish typing this post.

New this season are changes to critical strike making physical Amazon, Barb, and to a lesser extent Assassin better. The season is focused on Barb content, getting a completely new split throw skill, and a change to passives, giving melee classes options for better AoE.

This Season I'll be playing under a new account that I'll share here on the Farms. If people are interested in the game, PM me. I can give you more resources, explain in more detail the new mechanics, and maybe even give gear and Rushes if we can be online at the same time.

For general build info I'll recommend:

Long video going over every classes ranking at different tasks, it links to the Google Doc that has links videos on every build, including leveling builds. Just a heads up, leveling is to short 60-70. Early Game is doing Hell Vanilla content. Don't start with an Early Game build, in the community the game doesn't start until you can solo parts of Hell difficulty.

I can't get over how jacked up the models and especially the faces of the female characters in are in DIIR. Resurrected? Try raised from the dead. With how simple it is to slot in stock models you have to actually try to jack up faces that badly.
VV was literally forced to uglify female characters because blizzard is full of niggerfaggots

I'm a little bit out of the loop. Did they actually have and showed off original better looking designs and then went and took a jackhammer to them?

yes they did have better designs, no they didn't show them off, people simply found them because the artists who made them weren't under any NDAs, literally all "look at how they massacred our girls" moments

I hate how you can't play any kind of elemental build without Sunder Charms, but I never find anything higher than the tier 1 or 2 Heralds so I haven't found any charms this season. Granted I haven't dedicated all my time to herald hunting, but even on times when I'm using shards to terrorize full acts to grind xp I never get more than 1 herald running through the entire act. I found a Mang Song's Lesson staff (+5 all skills with minus resistance to all elements for enemies, mine rolled -13% fire) so I decided to pre-nerf my Warlock and switch to a fire build. Threw on the new staff with a few other pieces that give minus resistance to fire and an Obedience polearm on my merc and I still do literally 0 damage on fire enchanted mobs. Even with skills like Apocalypse and consuming the Tainted that are supposed to lower fire resistance more, it didn't even seem to make any difference. I guess that problem will get resolved with the changes next season when charms will be falling out of every monster's ass, but it's still bullshit how I can 1 shot everything else and do 0 to the fire mobs that seem to spawn more after I changed my build.

So I said fuck it and made a new Warlock, ran from 1-80 in about 3 days and already beat Hell to start doing end game stuff with Echoing Strike again. I wanted to use something besides Insight this run so I ended up making a Silence in an Ethereal Great Maul that I've been stuck with since lvl 55. It has decent mods with +2 skills, but I'm still hunting for better bases to try different runewords to max out the damage. Right now I do around 30k damage after all my boosts, but it's still good enough to kill everything and take down Diablo before he finishes his flame attack animation. I guess I'm just going to spend the last week of the season on this character to see how strong he can get while trying to fill out my Chronicle list and get a decent stash going for when all my characters switch to Standard after the season ends. Not sure yet what I want to play for the new season other than I want to stick with one or two Ladder characters this time. Despite the nerfs, I'll probably end up playing another Warlock since I feel the most comfortable playing him after trying all the classes so far.

Well I thought the nerf/update was going to happen when they start the new ladder, but apparently it was today. I just got an update about an hour ago on PS4 and when I started the game I now can't use my shield with a 2 handed weapon, and I went to check Lethargy and it has the damage mod removed. At least I can keep my Hephasto until my next death I guess, but what sucks more is I just used up my last respec right before the update, so now I can't move points around for demon mastery. So much for my plan to enjoy the game for one more week, there's no point in playing until the reset now.

i gotta reread the list of changes because the only things that stuck is miasma chains having no cooldown and bind demon requiring 20 points to be usable on superuniques
edit:

*Reduced the Cursed modifier’s chance to cast Amplify Damage from 75% to 5%.
*Mana Cost reduced to 9 per second.
wow they really do hate fun
also are you telling me bound summons cost mana per second now? are they retarded?

I think it's just mana per second when you are trying to bind a demon. I haven't noticed my mana draining while having a bound demon. I went ahead and found a book to replace the +2 skills lost from no Spirit to test out a terror zone. This morning before the update I managed to get my damage over 41k on ES, I just checked it now and it's showing that my max damage is 7600. I know not having consume isn't making that much difference, but maybe it's just reading differently, like it's showing damage from each weapon clone and before was showing the total? At least that's the cope I'm going to go with. I don't notice enemies dying any slower so far, but I need to go run Chaos Sanctuary for the real comparison.

edit: Well I decided to just run some terror zones, it was going ok until my 4th or 5th Herald spawned with archers that one-shot me from 1400 hp because I didn't switch to my CTA for a new boost in time. So I lost my Hephasto and I'm fucked unless I want to farm Mephisto for his essence to make a respec token. I spent the last week farming Ethereal weapons for an ES build, but now I don't know if I should say fuck it and go with an Abyss build since that's the only one left that's broken. The TaintLock everyone is talking about seems like it would have the same problems as FireLock running into fire enchanted mobs so I'm not going to bother.

Apparently there's also some kind of bug with the Heralds so it's pretty much impossible to farm them with physical, or at least melee builds, because the damage reflected from the 2 different thorns can one shot you. So that's fucking great...you can't play single elemental builds without Sunder Charms, but you can't farm the Heralds for the charms with physical damage builds. All I can do is play gimped out Magic Damage builds because I don't have Enigma to teleport into the right spots with my Hammerdin (plus teleport sucks with controller to begin with). Maybe I can try using Blade Warp with chains since they changed it work now, or stack Run/Walk Speed to run around in circles. I don't know... it would be fucking nice if I could just play whatever I wanted to and be able to do everything instead of making specific builds/characters to farm each different part of the game.

I finished Vessel of Hatred for Diablo 4. To clarify the worst story I have ever sat through in video game history, Vessel of Hatred was the worst story I've ever sat through and played hands down. Even worse than Dawntrail, worse than Shadowlands (then again Blizzard has been putting out narrative stinkers since Warcraft 3 fuck Metzen), worse than Ride To Hell Retribution, just an absolute abomination that I hopefully never have to play again. I'm sorry for writing this in a melodramatic speech, but it was so bad, it made me want to say fuck it and quit Diablo 4 and not play through Lord of Hatred.

So the story starts off with the central premise that the main character and the Horadrim are basically enemies of the state. This is coming off the heels of what happened with Inarius (a character who feels like he was written because the writer really liked Hazbin Hotel and its themes, but that's a side tangent) and his death. Basically, Prava and the Kyoshad nation believes that the Horadrim stole a soul vessel and unleashed hell on Sanctuary. This leads to Kyoshad taking more extreme measures in how they deal with heretics or people who may have close connections to the Horadrim... and none of this is done by Prava by the way, this is done by some goofy Judge Holden type character who seems to only exist to prop up Prava as a character and make us like her for being the grounded lot... even though she literally screamed at us for being heretics back in Hell during vanilla which Donan (who is another character I have grievances with) stupidly allowed to live.

So we get a lead... from Prava *sigh* to go to some east asian (or maybe it's South American?) country to find this lead and he tells us that he's not seen Neyrelle in a while (we'll get to her, fuck). We do a bunch of boring, superflous combat encounters tied to Blizzard's trademarked quest design. We encounter Not Judge Holden who managed to capture our lead who was helping us kill a bunch of corrupt demons during those superflous combat encounters. He cut off his arm and he tells us that Neyrelle will face justice for her crimes and that we should just surrender peacefully. Our character refuses and she has a vision of Neyrelle chanting a hilariously stupid asian derivative speech... because I guess we as the player somehow care for this character. I've never had a game look me in the eyes and tell me "yes you care about this character!" before. I've never seen it done in any other forms of media. I mean, fuck, I don't remember Goodbye Volcano High doing this and that game was Sweet Baby Inc slop. But I guess I, as the player, care somehow... even though she's an idiot who ran off with a shard that could fucking wipe out life in a blink of an eye. And is ACTIVELY wiping out life in a blink of an eye right now with the corruption.

Judge Holden stabs us and we're thrown into a river, bleeding. We were stabbed in the stomach. Our character is thrust into deep water with crimson covering the screen. Our eyes are even open for dramatic effect. But we managed to get beached onto a shoreline of a river and some guy heals us through some east asian magic type shit. This is Eru. A character who seems to trapse between being a know at all and being a spineless cuck depending on whether the writer wants to throw some melodrama into the story for whatever reason. I blanked out these parts of the story because 1. it's boring and 2. it's mostly just kill shit and move on. Riveting quest design. His characterization seems to flip and flop depending on whatever the writer thinks is cool or whether the writer, who is probably a woman by the way, wants to wax siloliquies about a bunch of not asian philosophy that has helped her through her trauma. In fact, this whole story feels like the writer just wanted to explore aspects of herself and her culture that she comes from.

More boring shit later and we arrive to find Neyrelle at the Durance of Hate... somehow. I don't know if Mephisto lead her to this place or if she was manipulated into finding this place. I also don't really know what significance this place has in forwarding Mephisto's plans. Oh I know why! It's a reference to Diablo 2! But she's stuck in some weird trance like state and nobody can reach her. So we need another fucking macguffin to basically kick her out of this state. Not before Mephisto tells us how cool and evil he is. Once again, the writer telling me what I think about this character which is new. I don't remember any other media doing this.

Again, more fucking boring shit of jacked on tasks to find this place to find this macguffin or this person who can help us. Once again, I blanked this entire section because it's boring and forgettable and a slog to sit through. But we enter the "spirit realm" and it's falling to Mephisto's corruption... I think. It really makes me wonder why demons even need to invade Sanctuary at all if they can just build an even stronger army in places only special humans can access. Well it turns out the person we're supposed to meet got corrupted by Mephisto and he attacks us leading to his inevitable death. Also Eru and this guy, forget his name, were supposed to be friends or something. We steal his heart and we take it to Neyrelle to wake her out of her stupor. And this is the very moment the story goes from dull and forgettable to annoying and frustrating. This very moment is when the story shits the bed so hard, it breaks the floor beneath.

Neyrelle is probably my pick for the worst character ever written ever. Wuk Lamat is bad, but she's at least a cheery character who stays grounded and positive in the face of sheer danger. Wuk Lamat was just the result of some mad bastard wanting to write a dating simulator girlfriend. Neyrelle really feels to me in this expansion like an author insert and it's not hard to see why given that she looks almost like, coincidentally, one of the writers of Diablo 4:
1779309577305.png
Huh...

She's also the one who left after Vessel of Hatred's release. Very coincidental. But anyhow, as bad as it was to constantly "speak to Wuk Lamat" during MMO questlines in Dawntrail, just imagine you're trying to complete a dungeon with Wuk Lamat in the party and non-fucking-stop, she has an emotional breakdown about Zoraal Ja and his invasion of Tural. That's essentially Neyrelle's entire fucking mode of operation in the entirety of the expansion. Constantly stopping the fucking game and snapping the pacing in half just so she can throw a temper tantrum, have an emotional breakdown, angst out for no reason, and constantly ripping the controller out of the player character's hands just so they can give therapy speak to this totally not author insert.

I'm utterly suspicious Neyrelle was written solely as inspiration from this writer's "personal experiences" and "wanted to represent my culture through my own personal trauma and tribulations of mental illness".

So why does this make me so angry? Because it completely STOPS THE FUCKING QUEST. You cannot progress any further until you stop and give Neyrelle a hug during a long cutscene or long conversation. What should take a minute of horse riding, a couple minutes of mowing down demons and skeletons, and maybe throw in a five minute long boss fight instead takes damn near twenty to thirty minutes. It pads out the length of these simple fucking quests and it basically derails the pacing.

Her characterization gets even worse as the possession starts to worsen. We go from having emotional breakdowns, to having literal fabric of reality breakdowns where her "trauma" and "mental illness" manifests into demons we have to kill. If you're playing this on a difficulty beyond whatever doesn't put you to sleep, these enemies are pretty hit spongy and they can take a while to kill. And she does this countless times where she'll scream and out comes demons that you have to fight. Sometimes special enemies which take forever to kill.

So during the quest of trying to find Akarat's tomb (this macguffin character who will somehow help Neyrelle and her attempt to contain Mephisto in the crystal who also ball washes her constantly with his dialogue), Eru gets kidnapped and we have to find him. A character I really could give less of a fuck because he either exposits information at me or throws a tantrum just like Neyrelle. Well he's been kidnapped by the Kyoshad knights that are under Judge Holden's guard. So we go and rescue him, not before Neyrelle keeps stopping the game several times to have a breakdown. We find Eru and, off screen, she kills off one of our literal who companions who I forgot the name of and has no personality besides just to step on Eru and be propped up to be more emotionally stable than Eru. Eru, losing another friend of his, but seems to forget we have a mission to stop this corruption, bitches out and tells us just to leave... which in turn causes Neyrelle to have another emotional disturbance that we have to correct. Oh and Judge Holden gets murdered by us too. Punctuated with the cringe worthy line of, I wish I was joking, "you were a tyrant and a horrible person, but you were at least honest about it". Our character literally says that out loud.

Now we have to go to Akarat's tomb with more boring quests and more breakdowns from Neyrelle. We find it, but we need Eru to come and open the way for us somehow. He shows up again, guess he got his wits about him, and opens the way and we go into Akarats tomb. More boring combat and boring fights later and we finally arrive at the resting place of Akarat who is somehow still preserved (like no signs of rot on his body at all). Why are we even there to begin with, because I guess Akarat is going to contain the crystal somehow. But then it turns out *gasp* Eru was actually working against us all along! He betrays us and steals Akarat's body with the crystal and now we're left to fight a manifestation of Mephisto... because apprently demons can just manifest out of the blue from these soul stones if they gain enough power. I thought the whole point of the soul stones was that they needed a host vessel to take possession of. We defeat him with Akarat's help, but this in turn kills Akarat. Or maybe it just depowers him or something. Akarat then, before passing on, has to say the most cringe worthy line of "I've died once already, but now I'm afraid!".

Then we go to confront Eru who refuses to tell us where the crystal or Akarat's body is because he's looking to "protect the spirit realm". Feels really out of character for a guy who just watched an entire realm get corrupted by the very Prime Evil he just out of the blue served to use this as a prime motivator to turn against us. Neyrelle out of anger knocks him out cold and then *sigh* wax siloliquies about how he's no different than us and we should just leave him to live with the consequences of his actions and find forgiveness. Because let's just forget Mephisto has a corpse (I guess demons now can just take dead bodies and possess them, this makes Diablo seem like an idiot for trying to possess Leoric's son in the first game), the main town we were answering to to find this tomb has no idea what's going on and could be surprise attacked at any moment, because let's forget killing him isn't even necessarily an option in the first place, why don't we just make him face justice and have him interrogated?

And that's the end of Vessel of Hatred. Just an agrivating and infuriating piece that was just the writer's exploration of her own personal self while we, the player, have to experience it. An ending that has to, of course, have Eru, the character people might debatebly like, become a monster in the end for no reason. Hey, you know what would be a better ending that's dark and fits the lore of Diablo? Akarat becomes weakened after fighting the Mephisto manifestation, Eru decides to take the soul stone and stab it in himself and demands Akarat seal him somewhere in the spirit realm, Akarat, with his remaining amount of power, does so and that basically forestalls the events until Lord of Hatred.

It's amalgamation of what you shouldn't do when writing a video game storyline. If you ever want guidelines as to what writing sins to not commit when you're writing a story for a video game, this is perfect. I was left really angry, dumbfounded, and exhausted once the expansion was over which is not really a feeling I want to have when playing a video game. It was an expansion that genuinely made me want to quit Diablo 4 and just say fuck it and never play Lord of Hatred. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, have a good day.

... and none of this is done by Prava by the way, this is done by some goofy Judge Holden type character who seems to only exist to prop up Prava as a character and make us like her for being the grounded lot... even though she literally screamed at us for being heretics back in Hell during vanilla which Donan (who is another character I have grievances with) stupidly allowed to live.

Agreed. Running hot off the heels of the base game, the expansion starting by immediately absolving Prava felt pathetic. Guess Blizzard remembered that Prava's a sheboon and they couldn't kill that sacred cow, so suddenly she's telling you she dindu nuffin and it was actually Generic Extra Guy who was to blame for everything.
Our character refuses and she has a vision of Neyrelle chanting a hilariously stupid asian derivative speech...
I felt like there was an awful lot of that in VoH: Eru and Black Lady did it, they do it another 3 or 4 times with the boring Open the Way Waterfall Shit..the problem is it's all just stupid gibberish that came out of nowhere. The characters all still talk like millennials and use English, so it feels shoehorned in. If all the characters in Nahantu spoke it except for Eru or something where you're constantly exposed to it, it wouldn't feel so stupidly out of place.

And this is the very moment the story goes from dull and forgettable to annoying and frustrating. This very moment is when the story shits the bed so hard, it breaks the floor beneath.

Pretty much. She was Diablo's Poochie: whenever she wasn't on screen, every character was made to ask, "Where's Neyrelle?" Even Leah in D3 was less frustrating.

It's surprising that Blizzard actually killed her in LoH. They could always go full retard and bring her back, but thus far it was the correct outcome.

I call the Generic Extra Guy "Judge Holden" because he literally looks exactly like him minus the scars

Leah was supposed to be the daughter character for the player that was supposed to represent Metzen's journey being a dad, but then he thought it would be so tragic to, at the last minute, throw in a twist where her mother, Adria (see guys, I really am making use of Diablo's lore!), is actually evil guys! Which is how Metzen writes all his shit. "Man, wouldn't that be cool if X did Y?"

Neyrelle is even worse and I've already said why. I guarantee you, though I can't prove it, she's an author self insert.

I have a question about Diablo 2 Resurrected. If you play only using the legacy graphics is the game uncensored and do you still have access to the new QoL stuff and additional content ?
