Also... how do you become a "game journalist" that just writes articles shitting on "Entitled gamers"? Who is paying for these people? Obviously it's not the gamers supporting it, at least, not directly.

The bizarre triumvirate of pro-corporate, anti-consumer, anti-capitalism that marks the "Fanboy" is so strange and self contradictory. It must be artificial, right?
By making clickbait outrage and farming it from both angry gamer spergs and spergs that think they can't be gamers despite wasting their lives on video games?

Also, it can be good to know that it won't just be game journalist that think those complaining and joking about Diablo Immortal being terrible.

He really doesn't realize it's the fact it's a mobile game that's likely to be shit but hey, them damn dirty gamers.

Note all the comments trying to own the gamers, when at least two of the people are individuals we have threads on and some of these people likely will sperg over video games they don't like while also spending a lot of time playing video games.

I remember the absolute scandal of trying to pay for good reviews with ad rev some many years ago over Kane and Lynch and Gamespot, iirc? (Or Giantbomb, one of those.) Journalists in droves came out to say they couldn't be bought by studios and it was unethical, flash forward to today, journalists are basically shilled undercover studio pushers with little regard to telling the truth or supporting consumer rights.

It's an absolute farce. They have the audacity to sit there and say 'hey gamers stop whining about a subpar game and just be grateful, accept it and sink your hard earned cash into it'.

And the same screaming blue-haired cunts will shriek that it doesn't have a one-legged asexual tranny half-black half-Asian with autism or some other crazy bullshit 99.999% of the actual customers couldn't care less about.

But people who expect an actual game for their money are "entitled."

Not gonna lie, I don't even really care about Diablo. I care more about Warcraft 3, and the rotting corpse that is SC 2. A lot of people in both those communities already figured the higher ups at Blizzard had some form of disconnect, and were very much out of touch. This recent debacle only proves it further.

The people in the sc 2 and warcraft 3 camps are just there to see Blizzard's stock prices burn as they get some measure of humbling. :optimistic:

Such a thing hits hard when that can come out of the mouth of those that tried to remain transparent over such a thing. Then again, selling out for money is something one may as well expect.

I don't care the slightest that there's a mobile Diablo. If Blizzard wants to make mobile games, whatever. The team working on it isn't the same team that's working on their PC stuff.

Allegedly, the original plan for Blizzcon's keynote this year was to actually announce Diablo 4 as the final part of the presentation, but the team didn't have enough they felt worth showing yet, and the decision was apparently close enough to Blizzcon itself that they had to just show Diablo Immortal by itself in a spectacularly awkward fashion that was only worsened by their attempts at damage control.

They probably would've gotten less flak if they had just come out and said "Yeah, we're working on Diablo 4 too, but it's not ready to show just yet" at the least. Or if they had maybe stuck to a more substantial announcement at the end and put Immortal in the middle somewhere that people wouldn't give a shit about, rather than at the very end as the thing everyone is going to remember from the keynote.

Had this Cheng guy started his presentation with the words "To bridge the waiting time till Diablo 4..." or something and this whole desaster would have been avoided.

How to make Activision stock go up: "Hey, here is a new class and more races in WoW. Also, WoW is boring as fuck so we are going something radical like removing factions. Also, uh, working on a new starcraft/diablo game next in series. Shit. Fuck. Let's get drunk and talk about diablo 4."

How to make Activision stock go down: "Mobile games! Also, here is a ten hour panel about the WoW music you turn off two seconds into the game lol. Overwatch has a new hero... 1 released per year! Woowzers."

I’m hinking of booting up Diablo 2 for the forst time in years in memoriam. What’s generally considered the most fun class? I think I mostly did a corpse explosion Necromancer and a Barbarian specced to to just cleave things apart with one ability.

Druid and Assasin are fun, too.

Is Diablo II even playable on modern screens? Because Blizz was asked why they couldn't do a HD revision was that the way the games enemies work is through taking advantage of the space you can't see in a 4:3 ratio but nowadays we have 16:9 or other widescreen formats that would render the old system worthless.

They could tweak that fairly easily I bet. But yeah, anything higher than 1280x720 reveals behind the veil. You can see enemies before their AI kicks in and can kill them beforehand.

I’m personally fine working with 800x600 though, and kinda worried that the sprites may lose some of their magic in the process of remastering.

I always liked Elemental Druid

To think that the D2 Addon increased the resolution to 800x600 and that was mainly used to zoom out and help navigate levels.
We came a long way. If they ever make a D2 Remaster, I have little hope for them to actually stick to the classic Diablo design, where everything is gothic and gritty. They'll make it look like WoW, like they expect me to buy a Andarial plushie or something.

On another Blizzard related note, it appears WC3: Reforged was outsourced. Grain of salt, have not verified.

I am not surprised. It's going to be shit.

But outsourced to who? No one really does RTS anymore. There really aren't many RTS companies left, who could they have gotten? Massive Entertainment is making the Division 2, Relic Entertainment is currently working on AoE 4 for Microsoft, Petroglyph have gone to ground as of late, and Eugen who are doing their own project.

All I can think of is that they got some no name company for it, which does not bode well for a title like Warcraft 3. I wonder what would happen if they cock up its remaster, and how fucked the stocks would get?

They've made everything look and generic as possible in Warcraft 3 Reforged:
