Did people really like Windows 8?

People are nostalgic (or being hipsters) over Windows 98, XP, and 7 era. Yet I have never ever heard anybody mention anything about Windows 8.
I think I remember it being Microsoft's attempt at trying to get an own over Apple but fucking it up because the Microsoft genuises were sniffing glue or something.
what the fuck is that .webpwindows phone.webp
Is there anyone on here that really misses that era? Surely there are Kiwis that have some good things to say about using the windows phone and windows 8?

I really did love Windows Phone though. The hardware was great, too.
I bought a Lumia 640 when it was new, you wouldn't expect to get a functional phone for less than $100 right? Junk specifications but it is still snappier than some premium android phones I've had in the past. Best part? It still works, albeit now as my alarm clock

Windows 8 on anything else is as big of a stain as windows 11. Yuck.

Literally never used it, went from 7 to 10. People despised 8 but some seemed to tolerate 8.1 once you got rid of all that tablet bullshit.
Windows 7 was still easy to get a year before Windows 10 came out. If Microsoft wasn't run by an Indian, Windows 11 would have gotten the Windows 8 treatment and been allowed to somehow continue trying to compete with the Windows people actually want to use.
At least vistas at the point its so old people barely remember how shit it was and just remember the good memories around it especially that era of the net and that sweet sweet frutiger aero. It was dog shit but ive seen many people nostalgic for it, I honestly can't see anyone being nostalgic for windows 8.
Vista's main issues were high system requirements and being overly aggressive with "Are you sure?" buttons meant to protect retarded boomers. Windows 7 was just Vista with a less annoying nanny.

It was great but the pajeet in charge of Microsoft killed it with his stupidity. They've had 3 iterations of the OS and each one was incompatible with the previous one, so you had to buy a new phone and develop new apps each time.

I don't get how retarded you have to be to think that consumers will eat it up.

I ran it for a long time but spent many hours customizing it with a guide i can't find now, was able to disable a lot of metro without using open shell.

Aside from Metro I did like the UI feel and customization flexibility. Either Windows 7 and 10 were superior in every other way and ran everything better and more efficiently. People didn't like telemetry but got even worse with 10 and the opposition was short lived. 8 wasn't a Vista level disaster it was pretty corporate feeling but also a bit slick, at least to me.
