I just opted for a new one, it's a 2ds because I'm still cheap though. Has an excellent feel in your hands compared to the others, and idgaf about the 3d gimmick.

I have some trouble with the 3D because horrible eyesight. My right eye is also weaker so it makes it hard to focus on the 3D correctly. I only used the 3D occasionally. But after a few minutes it bothered me and the image would sorta tear even when I held it right. I probably should go with 2DS if I replace mine.

I dont know, are there any good games that are only compatible with (((new))) 3ds? If not go with doorstop. Fuck I gotta dig that out and replay Samus Returns now.

New 3DS exclusives of note are:
  • the worst version of The Binding of Isaac
  • the worst version of Minecraft
  • a mediocre version of Xenoblade Chronicles
It is only worthwhile if you want to play virtual console SNES games or have some of the later 3DS games run a bit better.

It's also quite good for homebrew. You can emulate (S)NES and all portable Nintendo console games easily, including other 3DS games for free. Granted it's not terribly powerful as far as emulation goes but it can run a decent amount of stuff.

Its cause he accounts for that 99% chance. He's been blacklisted from nearly every Gamestop in the country after he goes in buy's a DS's, sneaks into the the employee bathroom to release nuclear ghost pepper diarrhea while howling in pain and then tries returns to the shit covered DS he's been sweating over for the last hour. It's really quite horrifying, especially when he keeps coming back to rant and rave outside the locked doors about how its his consumer right to play animal crossing while shitting as he waves around a crusty brown stacks of hundred dollar bills.

Somehow has two n64 ports but can’t emulate n64 roms

Not to sperg but the N64 is fairly difficult to emulate if you're not running a sufficiently strong machine (i.e. not most handheld consoles from the early 2010s). The ports were compiled for the 3DS so it's different from actually emulating N64 games.

Then again, most phones nowadays don't have any issues emulating N64 so the point is probably moot.

  • 3DS emulation still isn't great, even on desktop PCs
  • odd screen setup makes it not so cohesive for playing on other things, anyway
  • most things don't have a stylus, and the emulator would need to explicitly support different smart styluses
  • rhythm games don't tend to work well on emulators that aren't very mature due to input lag

Still has better UI than that Switch version, and even has a music player and model viewer. I've spent more time playing the 3ds version than the Switch version because it doesn't look as blurry as sin, has better UI, doesn't obliterate the battery life, and has the old jank physics so you can clip through the door in Tephra cave and do the funny ice speed glitch.

New 3ds gives you better load times in everything and generally better performance, even more so if you hack it and enable the New3ds clocks for everything. Don't get a New 2dsXL however, they are built cheap as shit and don't even have metal backing on the LCD so it can just snap.

With 3ds screens you can actually just flip the 3d on but keep the slider at the lowest point and you get a sort of anti-aliasing effect.
