Sure, it has lost of options, just like yt-dlp itself, but you don't need to worry about them if you just want to download a video: simply paste the video link in the top field, select destination folder, click "Add URLs" and then click "Download all" at the bottom. That's it. It can't get much easier than this.

I'd stop using youtube whenever possible. I'd be lying if I said I could confidently avoid it forever in all things, but I'd honestly just subscribe to Nebula or equivalent before I'd consider giving google a penny. That being said, even if youtube somehow ironclad the live ads in such a way as to be unavoidable, people will just improve tools like yt-dlp to identify and slice out injected content sooner rather than later - It'll be a PITA to have to predownload everything you might want to watch and youtube would become very much a secondary source for me as a result, but there's some content I'd probably still deal with that on.

And that's frankly the worst case scenario - Odds are that by the time I exhaust the options of pirating and competitor services, that adblockers will have gotten working again. I doubt they're eager to pull the trigger on the overhead cost to inject ads live into video streams - There's costs beyond the processing overhead, as now the youtube video servers are part of the whole ad negotiation and deployment process directly, and can't just leave it to the adsense services.
