At least they're also preserving the original dub cut instead of just making an entirely new dub to "correct" a 20-year-old "mistake".
Discotek is still run by complete faggots, though, which is why this hurts a lot as it's a good idea to do, I just can't take them at face-value anymore.

What the fu...just leave KAMIYA normally like in the original dub? Was that not bloody hard to do? This is almost 4Kids-tier stupid level of editing, if not worse.

Just started playing World 1, what should I expect? I've heard that it's tedious, grindy, poorly-aged and obtuse but everything seems pretty clear to me so far (granted, I'm only 20 minutes in, but still).
This is my little guy. I was going to name him Specter because I didn't know who he'd be when I named him, but that was too long for the character limit so I shortened it. I've played enough of my actual Digivice to have an idea of what to do with him and my neurotic tendencies will probably keep him from becoming a Sukamon any time soon so for now I'm just enjoying my time.
I really like the music and visuals, honestly. The cutscenes were laughably dated but the actual game looks kind of alright and I like the Digital World's design quite a lot.

DW1 is such a fucking experience. People say the first pokemon have certain magical aspect since they cut corners and have things like Missingo but DW1 still has mystery as people following guides to the T won't get that specific Digimon sometimes. But I suggest going in blind until the endgame where you want to win with your specific favorite. Megidramon is still a favorite of mine since it was the first Perfect Digimon I got

Ok, I'm kind of lost continuity wise. Is this after the 6 movie shitshow with rapey genai, the retard with the glasses and her aidsmon and where Tai decided that having balls was overrated or is this one after half the crew decided to grow up and lose their digimon kind of sorta and Sora was depressing as all hell?
Also, what ages are they? I mean, Davies seems to be an apprentice ramen guy now and Veemon is there chilling.
That aside, nice to see Paildramon again, I love him and Stingmon's design. Wonder if they'll give a nod to egg evolutions.
Digimon's continuity started out consistent, but nowadays has been all over the place and is just confusing as shit. Dare I say, it makes the plot of Evangelion sound more like an Aesop fable by comparison

The promotional material is skipping over mentions of tri, as did Kizuna (none of the production staff returned after leaving a sequel hook).

I might have to try DW1 too, I actually just restarted DW:NO and am having a lot of fun just fucking about not focusing on the plot at all really.

My husband owns World 2, but we haven't had the time to boot it up so I could try my hand at it. I saw a World 1 copy out in the wild but it was like 75 bucks or so and it would've pushed us over-budget. Maybe one day...

So Tri and Kizuna kind of ignore each other, but they are supposed to be the same cannon then? And Beginning is with Tri or Kizuna philosophy? I mean, the whole point of Kizuna is that you just have to grow up and say goodbye sometime and Tri seemed to be kind of the opposite. Also, are digimon just seeing as something normal there?
And on the topic of videogames, I've only played Cyber Sleuth (I'll some day get to the sequel/prequel thing) and Digimon Survive (janky, but enjoyed it and would love to see another crack at it either much more focused on the VN aspect or with deeper gameplay). I have Digimon World Next Order in my steam wishlist, any other ones I should put on my radar then? I am getting a bit curious about the PSX game with you guys discussing it, but I have no idea if it would drive me nuts or not.

Officially they are the same canon but tri used staff that had nothing to do with Digimon, with the Director, Keitaro Motonaga, not only never having seen Digimon but kind of shitting on it while promoting it. Kizuna, meanwhile, had the same producer from the first 4 seasons and one writer from Digimon Adventure (new director). While promoting Kizuna they said it takes place 7 years after 02 instead of 5 years after tri, summarized the first 2 seasons while skipping tri, and not addressing any of the lingering plot points left over from tri (there was a 1 second cameo from the tri OC and her VA returned voicing someone different). The first teaser also only used the 02 cast after their absence was ignored in tri
Same director, writer, and producer from Kizuna and it follows the main point of more people having Digimon.
Next 0rder is a more of a monster raising sim where you get two Digimon and have to feed them, train them, and take care of their well being. It's not a JRPG like CS. I'd recommend DW1 for the PS1 since it's a classic that still holds up and is a monster raising sim like N0. N0 added several things that make raising and evolving easier so its hard to go back
