Man I remember this show from my childhood. Sure enough it's on the farms, which reminded me of this old crossover I had in my head for a while. Maybe some Cartoon Network power hour special that never happened? Feel like these guys are a match made in heaven.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and digital babes of all ages! Feast your eyes on the rock 'n roll sensation of the Digital Nation! He’s got the hips of a heartbreaker and the pipes of a pixel-powered prince! He’s the king of the swing, the sultan of style, my main digi-man... give it up for the funkadelic, the fantastic, the fringed-out fury—ETEMON, baby!

🎤 Straight outta the analog age, it’s the hunka hunka hubris, the protein-powered peacock, the man who does one push-up and flexes for fifteen minutes—give it up for the blond bombshell with a brain made of pure static... JOHHHHHNNY BRAVO!

Autism like this makes my day in this cynical age. Rock on, superstar.

Well. I beat Digimon World 2.

FFS, what a waste of time. I hate this game, but I can finally tell 10 year old me who rage quit because I didn't understand the recruitment mechanics that I beat it. Imagine a ten year old fresh off the heels of Pokemon struggling through the mechanics, reaching the level cap and wondering how to get more digimon, FINALLY realizing you have to shower them with gifts only to be horrified when you start the battle and nothing changes. You go through the fight as normal, but after defeating all the digimon you rage quit because none of the opposing digimon became your friend (but had you pressed one more button to get past the WIN screen they would have joined).

Stupid game. I can not imagine playing this game to completion when I was younger. I decided to play it without a guide and how I would normally approach a game. Which is to say I bumbled my way through taking way too long. The time played I have listed on my emulator says 158 hours and this was at 2x speed so 316 game hours. I have a family and a job and I can't just not sleep like I could have in my late teens and 20s so this has taken me months and months to accomplish.

The best part about beating this game is I never have to play this game again.

I'm going to go play something else now I guess..

Your dedication is inspiring.

Just rewatched 02 and Tamers, Ken is still my favorite but it does fall apart the last few episodes and I stopped it right when the epilogue started because fuck that shit and Tamers still holds up, the last time I saw it was over 20 years ago.

A lot of Digimon shows seem to fall apart at the end. Frontier's final arc is one of the worst final arc's in any show in general and Ghost Game had to try shove as much plot details as fast as possible at the end.

02 isn't as bad as some people say, but it sure does suffer from a case of "too many cooks in the kitchen".
If i remember correctly the show had a lot of writers, all of them wanting to add their own story arc to the show, the problem was that tying everything together was a huge pain, hence why the dark ocean thing gets dropped. It also doesn't help that they did Ken dirty by not adding a bit more of his backstory from the WonderSwan games, but i guess that would have been a pain in the ass to do since they'd have to explain that the dark seed was a curse intended for Ryo, who only shows up for one second in a flashback

Oh yeah, I remember that. They changed some of the staff like midway through?

Funnily enough, Ryo appears in Tamers.

Unbelievably hyped for this. Cyber Sleuth made me a Digimon fan after years of mild disinterest and this looks like more of that but better.

Well, that's a red flag if ever I've seen one. Isn't this a singleplayer JRPG? Why is this here? Maybe I'm missing something and this is just to cover their asses for a preorder bonus or something, but it's got me suspicious.

Oh, wait.

God fucking damn it. Piracy it is.

I've never played it, but are they aping Persona? The visuals remind of that.
From what I understand almost every modern RPG has been trying to do this since Persona 5 became a runaway success, some to a better degree of success than others.

The game itself looks pretty good. Like Campbell said, "Cybersleuth but better." I'm glad Digimon seems to have finally found a type of game that works for them after World's mixed sequels. The trailer editing is completely spastic though; each shot gets maybe 1-2 seconds to breathe before being overtaken by something completely different. Voice clips cut into each other, character names are barely readable, and the entire thing felt more like a sensory onslaught than an actual advertisement for the game. The fucking preorder bonuses get more screentime than basic menus. The trailer also fails at being cinematic because I barely know what's going on thanks to it. Shinjuku got invaded by Digimon? You got thrown into the past. There's an egg, and... that's about all I got from what felt like over a hundred clips all communicating something different.

Trailer bitching aside, I hope the game is good despite all of this. I like the style of the little animations they spliced in there, the plot seems interesting enough, and I'm always happy to see more Digimon stuff in general.
