I can't believe this isn't a thread here. Post what dim sum you like or don't like.
Best:
BBQ pork buns (one of like five things I know how to say in Chinese bc it's so good)
Short ribs
Soup dumplings
Anything with duck
Egg custard

Worst:
Tripe

Not a huge fan of shrimp shumai but thats just my opinion.

Favorites:
  • Rice-flour rolls, with shrimps or barbecued pork preferably, but plain is more than OK to me.
  • Turnip cake
  • Shumai
  • Beef balls (actually I just love that knock-off worchestershire sauce)
  • 粉果 -- big steamed dumplings with thick greasy skin, wrapping an unidentifable chop-suey of diced pork, peanut, bamboo shoot, water chestnut and celery.

Can't think of anything I don't like, except perhaps white chicken feet with vinegar (but that's just because I hate anything vinegary, nothing to do with the feet) and pork feet in ginger-vinegar (also the vinegar).

Chicken feet are hit or miss for me so I don't get them very often. Also no one else ever wants them.
Those dumplings look good, I don't think I have had those

Here's another one I don't like

Mostly because it's fucking impossible to pick up with chopsticks, but it's also not worth the effort.

I am kind of new to the cart style dim sum. Somehow I managed to eat dim sum all over new york without ever being at a place that served from carts. It was always a menu. But I recently found this place: http://www.wongsking.com/doc/dimsum.pdf
They don't give you a menu and they barely speak english. It's great.

These rice-flour rolls are my favorite :(

Carts are being phased out even in China, for who wants to hire additional personal? But tea-houses with carts often have great atmosphere, especially when you make friends with the cart ladies.

For desert, this "Malay sponge cake" is nice. It is of Hong Kong origin, not Malaysia, and really good ones are hard to find.
