Discord, what do you think of it?

The only way for discord to go away is if another alternative gets massively popular (Such as when discord overtook skype ironically enough) but I don't really see that happening. Discord is the most easy-access brainlet app any monkey can use and hosting a server is just a few clicks away.
I hate that I'm forced to fucking use it for any form of legitimate LFG/clan/guild activities whether it's in WoW, Destiny, or literally any other multiplayer game I play. Nobody wants to use mumble, teamspeak, or even simple IRC.

Paraphrasing yellow fever sufferer cancerAIDS patient Jim "Augustine" O'Shaughnessy's undying words, I don't use it because I'm heterosexual.
The application is a dumbed down chromium browser, therefore a massive resource hog and a security risk.

Discord is literal aids.

They recently added a kind of radio feature, where people can make their VCs totally public for anyone to find and listen to and even be invited to talk. I really hope some weird schizos and conspiracy theorists start using it to broadcast and debate their thoughts.

To be honest:
As a normal user: It is an okay chat software, it beats skype group chats.
From an autistic perspective: It's a bloated mess. The servers are usually captured by weird people and the service itself is really happy to hand over your chatlogs to activist groups.

What I dislike about it is the fact that it too became a monopoly requirement for a lot of interaction. The way it is set up is making it basically Twitter just more annoying.

I haven't had an account in a few years so I don't know the current state

I spent a lot of time on discord trying to be "social" a few years ago when I had a job that required a lot of travel. There were always a few weirdo regulars hanging around, but it's unreal how in a short span of time if has turned into a den of pedos, clueless minors the pedos prey on, and overall relentless faggotry. I was shocked to come back to a server after like a year and see a guy who I had assumed to be relatively sensible browbeating others into acceptance of trans surgery for children. Had I known that's what discord did to influence its users, I would have just gotten drunk off my ass in the hotel rooms every week instead of pretending I had a thriving social life with what turned out to be a gaggle of loons.

Used it once for about twenty seconds and didn't understand it.

It's MSN chat rooms on your phone. So what?

Its shit

Like, really shit

Got banned off a server once because I made a 15 year old pissed, pretended that he qas more mature than me.

Never really used discord that much anyways.

Discord's yet another one of those things where I just woke up one day and absolutely everyone on the internet was using it. Just like Zoom at the start of the pandemic. Like I stepped into an alternate universe where suddenly this shit had just been standard for a long time, and I was the weird one because I didn't have an account yet.
