Discussion for the Fate of Weeb Wars as a Board

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I like this idea more than trying to make a weeb / culture war subsection. Alot of people that would be in that type a sub section fit better in other places.
Best play in my opinion would be to make it a raket/lawlsuit subsection of some kind. There are enough people threating each other with legal action it would be a good place to store dedicated threads for court proceedings without shitting up the main discussion threads
Lolcow LLP already exists. 'Legal suits' are not distinct enough IMO

Okay, the Oct 6th meeting came and went because of some of the officials getting COVID. It turns out that pinning things to the WW forever trial might not have been a good idea.
So now what?

It's here because the WW is still going on.

When it isn't it goes away.

No big deal.

Well, if we go the culture war route, that would bring in alot of the internet famous crowd such as Tim Pool and Quarter pounder.
Yeah, no shit. If you look at the index page for IF, so many people with threads in there are balls deep in the culture war. Perhaps as much as 80%. It's like "the thing" to engage in to become e-famous these days. I'm guessing that's the idea here though. Some people are just IF, and others are IF because of being culture warriors, and there's a desire to bifurcate the two.

It's undoubtedly gonna lead to a mass migration of threads from IF all the same though.

Also, when this changeover happens, I really think some thread OPs are in desperate need of being refreshed and/or rewritten. TUG's OP, for example, is absolutely appallingly atrocious. I and others have bitched about that for years. If you knew absolutely nothing about TUG, and read that OP, you'd still know absolutely nothing about TUG other than the fact he is a guy who claims he had his mailbox smashed by a dangerhair.

It's gonna end eventually, and probably soon. All realistic appeals have been exhausted, and the vultures lawyers want their fucking money (a powerful motivation, to be sure) so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I thought it over. I think the board should stay open for the time being.

My personal thoughts are that the Weeb Wars, while niche and a topic of select interest for those involved, is a gift that will keep on giving. My initial vote was to okay the board to just dissolve, but as these past weeks have shown, shit is still going on and the perpetrators and people involved are in way too deep to turn back now.

Mainly, Anime News Network and the Localizers are still entrenched in the Blackrock sponsored culture wars, and if it wasn't for the Hollywood Strikes being resolved, I would have just let Weeb Wars go. Ultimately though, when you are involved with a creative industry but are not the creatives, but the orbiters, the middlemen, the go-betweens, and even down below as the bottom of the barrel as posers, sensationalist power starved megalomaniacs, entitled loser consumers, and mental illness addled projective hypocrites, and think the creatives owe you something, the lights here at the Farms deserve to be shown on you.

In context of the Farms, we at the Weeb Wars have done our best to contain our spergery within our board and unless a thread is relevant to the topics and subjects related at hand, I guarantee we do not push anything other than the Post Reply -> Latest Post On Main Page Notification function. The only people who whine and complain about the Weeb Wars tend to be contrarians and envious loser dipshits who wouldn't otherwise give a fuck if they were on top of Sensation Hill on the throne wanking off for whatever petty reason. And if you do so, Weeb Wars IS a speck of a board. It's not all consuming. It's not like there are other lolcows related on EVERY board who contribute to this shit. It just happens to be the loudest.

So no, I don't think the board deserves to go just yet. Until Anime News Network, the corrupt US ADV Localizer industry, and even the want for anime goes kaput, in ascending order of foundational importance to this board, this isn't a topic that's going to go away that easily. Keep in mind that this entire shitshow was because a Jew weeaboo convention sex pest got the backing of his bedfellows who also had corporate backing to blow up a warhead of a smokescreen, and said bedfellows were also insecure sociopath mentally ill California commies who also sought to suck the blue dick of Hollywood to "make Japanese cartoons better" by impossibly seeking to get a foot into that long decaying part of the entertainment industry, and said corporate backers are following policies created by a financial group that deliberately caused a financial crisis that is still lingering to this day to try to "make the world better". Even if Vic can't get back what's been damaged to his reputation by court, the collateral aftermath of how to damage his reputation is fucking massive; this was practically the attempt of assassinating one person astronomically in a city of millions by nuking the fucking place by orbit. Fuck, Ass News Network's major lynchpins died for this crusade. I don't think this is going away anytime soon. Contain this spergery.

It's also fucking impossible to escape any more, as much as you might have wanted to. If you had told me in 2000 "oh hey in 20 years you'll be in the culture war but on the OTHER side" I'd have looked at you like you'd grown an ass on your forehead. And yet here we are.

I'm wondering if this board can be used to talk about more voice actors being canceled. There's a shitty document going around about the voice actor for kokichi, with dubious screenshots insisting some random instagram profile is him and it got him canceled from a con.
Do it, nothing's stopping you, it's an all encompassing phenomenon.

I feel like repurposing it for cosplay and con drama would’ve worked very well maybe 5-6 years ago. But cosplay drama isn’t what it used to be for a multitude of reasons. Plus what cosplay drama does exist often involves minors, and this site is supposed to avoid involving minors. Other sites are better suited for covering the dry lolcow teat of the adult Lolita Scene.

Lolcow Salon, Stinkditch, and Animal Control should be able to cover the lolcows that could go on a weeb-specific board.

Isn’t the catboy board basically a culture wars board? I’m for making this a week lolcow board, since it’s what I thought it was for a while.

Repurpose into a general ideology/woke/SJW/politics in fandoms board. Hell, the name doesn't even need to change. There is enough drama in the fandoms alone to keep something like that going. It should help keep the general media boards free from drama and open to actual discussion about the media. Also with no confusion on what to talk about where.

Why not just make this an anime board?
Instead of Weeb wars, its the Weeboard.

That could work too. Containing everything, drama included.

I'm considering the following for Weeb Wars:

Icon: Balldo
Name: Grift Wars
Description: Either
A. The Culture Wars will be won by the e-daddy with the biggest Patreon.
B. The fate of Western civilization depends on who stars in the next Disney movie.
So that would mainly be a for infamous grifters/e-celebs and their drooling orbiters?
I know there aren't a lot of IRL famous cows, but it'd be nice to have a place that congregates them like Grimes, Elliott Page, DrUmPf, etc.
