No article or anything elaborating further on it -I'll update the OP as necessary- but there ya have it.

You can imagine the replies to that. Take a gander. :story:

Here's the hashtag: https://twitter.com/hashtag/MayThe4th?src=hashtag_click

I loved the part where Jaja Binks gassed all of the Trump's Chosen People and turned Anne Frank into a bar of space soap #MayThe4th

Werent people saying that Walt Disney, the man himself, was an actual jew-hating nazi anyway? I remember being in high school and thats one of those things your peers pass around and joke about, it was some scandalous rumor.

LA Calicommies and Antifags should throw the Disney board under a guillotine.
You mean the soyboys who live to CONSOOM MCU bullshit and clap like walruses when Mary Sue Feminist Character saunters on screen and effortlessly wins the movie? The people arguably almost as responsible for this bullshit as the creators, the people who spend billions of dollars on cheap pseudo-"empowering" bullshit that thrives because of weak antagonists and guilting the audience into compliance with Twitter threats and screeches of Nazi? The people who continue to hurl money at megacorporations despite every bit of shitting they have done on the corpses of beloved franchises?

Those people will suck Disney cock just as hard as they suck CCP cock.

Disney wouldn't be in this position in the first place if they simply abided by the tried and true methods of cultivating talent, putting out quality movies and tv shows, and pumping up their animation division which is what made the name in the first place.

Instead they've gone full Chinese where they try to game the system and skate on good will and cut corners at every opportunity. When you're at the levels of profit generation that they have its easy to fall into the trap of thinking that it's all just funny money and that it doesn't matter if you lose a couple billion here and there but this kind of thing really sets people against them. Sooner or later it has nasty consequences.

Thing is the Disney parks are really nice. Great vacation spot for anyone, literally anyone. And afaik the parks are Disney's only reliably profitable sector. They're worth going to at least once in your life.

To be perfectly honest I don't want anything terrible to happen to Disney. I like their (old) animated movies, they really were producing amazing animated features, true art. Even their flops like The Black Cauldron have something to offer. (Please watch Breadsword's video, it's great.)

But now they're wasting talent and trying to farm out content to their fans at a time when they're financially hurting. They really do think they're invincible and they're not. They're absolute pigshit. I bet there are people who know this but since no one wants to find out what happens when the music stops they have to keep the facade going.

Welcome to being turbofucked by the internet Disney, you deserve it.

Greetings fellow humans, I'm from the year of 2200, Walt© bless us. I'm writing this on my Disney© brand keyboard connected to my Disney© brand computer, while sitting on my Disney© Life© chair, sipping on my Disney© Life© Essentials© decaf soy latte, humming a cheerful Disney© Life© Comfort© song. You have no reason to fear our Benevolent Overlord©, the Disney© Corporation©, they won't even terminate your employment or your Life© subscription if you fall ill or lose a limb in a Disney© owned mine or factory!
Our Life© Essentials© Living Units© are padded, and have Disney© Life© Luxury© subscriptions available for a computer and Disney© Life© Luxury© DisnEnternet© access!

I think people are misreading this.

It's a shitty fan submission contest and by @-ing Disney's account with that hashtag you are entering their contest and you are granting Disney the right to use your tweet in some promotional fuckery if they choose to, and basically they ain't got to pay you shit. I guess just because of how low-effort a tweet is compared to sending in a picture to a magazine, or a letter-to-the-editor to a newspaper people don't think there's any intellectual property issues there. Just because there is very little intelligence on twitter doesn't mean there couldn't be rights issues.
Better to err on the side of caution, it's Disney after all.

Calicommies and the CCP should team up. Come on, if Disney executives get guillotined they really brought it onto themselves.

Imagine being such an evil corporation that you want to silence people for making fun of you. Even Google, for its many faults, isn't slapping a ToS on some shitty hashtag like #MayThe4th and DMCA-ing anyone who even looks at them funny for it.

This will all be forgotten, somehow, something something, when the FemThor movie comes out next year. Everyone really wants to see Thor: Love and Thunder, right?

Sony's doing basically the same thing by peddling some "new tech" that will help players avoid seeing "undesirable" material online (i.e. spoilers to their favorite Sony(R) games), which they conveniently started hyping up just hours after leaks emerged of The Last of Us 2's story and ending which the whole internet is busy roasting them for (because it's just dreadful). They've been pretty active DMCA'ing videos and channels that showed the leaks.

Companies these days seem to have forgotten that the Streisand effect is a very real thing in today's culture and I love it.
