I went to Tokyo DisneySea today after avoiding going to the parks for a few years and honestly, if Walt were brought back to life today he'd beat every exec's head in with a bat for allowing the Japanese to surpass the American parks the way that they have. It was fucking gorgeous, it wasn't too crowded, the queues were well-designed, the food was well-priced and rather good, especially for theme park food. Fantasy Springs even had me a bit misty-eyed because we passed through it at night and the lights looked dazzling in the darkness. An insane amount of effort was put into this park and it's the only Disney related property I have enjoyed in a long time.

I went in 2019 and was really impressed with it. My only comparison though was when I went to Disney World as a kid back in the early 90s.
 
I think the problem with Disney 3D is sort of the same problem something like RPGs had when they first hit that 3D space back in the late '90s and early 2000s.

The thing about 2D be it with video games or animated movies is that there is a lot of human soul involved because everything has to be meticulously done to the final details which leaves room for imagination.

The problem with 3D is that it's a lot more manufactured by machines and nowadays AI is specifically trained off of Disney 3D animated films which only cheapens the former and makes it just look and feel like generic slop.

Literally look at the pencil test for even some of the best 3D films like the original Moana or Encanto look a hundred times better in the pencil test phase.


Notice gentleman how soft Mirabel looks when she's playing the accordion and Bruno looks like he could have been a full-fledged Rasputin like villain which would have made the twist that he isn't one a lot stronger.

Doesn't bode well imo given pop culture references; that strikes me as another "we need to save the trees, you guys!" kind of movie marketed to children.

What's up with the trailer's song? There is a beginning of something at 29 seconds and then it's a mid boom boom thing. I hope it's just because they didn't finished the sound track.

I'm fine with more Tron movies.

What I don't understand is the continued insistence on putting Jared Leto in things. Did we learn nothing from Ezra Miller? Eventually the sex cult is going to break through to public awareness and whatever project he's working on at that moment is going to crater whatever franchise it's a part of.
