I already knew that they fucked up the casting, the cinematography, the dialogue, and the music, but what I hadn't truly considered was how slimy and nonsensical it was for Disney to market the movie as live action. The movie looks so fucking artificial. And it's absurd how it's the only animated movie not isolated to compete in the animated category but gets to compete for best actor etc.

I'm not gonna bother watching because I have no interest in it, but just going by the thumbnail, goddamn Chip looks like shit. They just slapped an ugly toon shader on a 3D model, they could have put in a little effort with, at the very least, rotoscoping the model and getting an actual hand drawn animation going.

This loooks truly awful, but honestly it could be so bad it’s good levels of awful, the awful mix of animation styles, the confused derivative premise like a weaker Roger Rabbit, weird, old and fat Incel Peter Pan, moronic jokes. It could all be a glorious train wreck, I’m excited tbh and I’ll watch it as soon as it drops, it definitely looks more entertaining than Lion King 2019 that’s for sure.

Ehh, I actually don’t mind Seth that much, I honestly thought he was the highlight of TLK 2019 playing Pumbaa with Billy Eichner as Timon as they were actually funnier in this version than they were in the original. I never really liked either as kids, they were mostly annoying and relied on dumb fart jokes and cheap humour but here they were more tolerable in the remake. They were probably the only good thing about the whole remake really.

Speaking of Roger Rabbit, it's amazing how a film from 34 years ago can look a million times better then the film realeased today that tries with the same animation-live action effect.

Speaking of Roger Rabbit, it's amazing how a film from 34 years ago can look a million times better then the film realeased today that tries with the same animation-live action effect.

That's because there are not many traditional animators that are around anymore and almost becoming a lost art. Everything that's 2D now is either flash, Toon Boom or this in the trailer with the cel shading making it look uncanny to the eye if movement/style.

If it wasn't for a certain Green ogre that won an Oscar 20 years ago we probably would still have both styles without one replacing the other. (maybe 3D doing a little better at the box office for appeal purposes)
