It's spiritualist trash. From what I remember, the "heaven" area is a corporate office where they sort you before you go to the other side, and of course nobody knows what it's actually like past that. Mostly it's just overcomplicated, confused worldbuilding that Pixar thinks means good writing now. Also a question about Soul, is it in any way related to Christianity, or is it the usual "spiritualist" trash that avoids any religious connection despite being based entirely on a religious concept?
iirc "heaven" is just shown as an escalator to oblivion. The You Seminar is where the unborn souls hang around to explore what Earth has to offerIt's spiritualist trash. It's called The Great Before for a reason.iirc "heaven" is just shown as an escalator to oblivion. The You Seminar is where the unborn souls hang around to explore what Earth has to offer
I've seen many of her videos before they blew up after the Wish salt, and while I do want to get on board it reeks of misinformation.I'd assume they are just doing it as a "family night" thing. Theaters do show old kids' movies and family classics on certain nights. They're just trying to spin it as also a money-making endeavor so they can say they tried to the investors or something.
I enjoy this woman's videos about Disney songwriting (she also has a few deep dives on why the new Little Mermaid songs don't match the original's quality). Here's her breakdown of Wish. Apparently "This Wish" was written in like three weeks and the writers were given only the vaguest "she's an activist" story hook.

So how's Fantasia 2000 in your opinion?I think Fantasia is the best because I am biased because I studied classical music but I think it's really amazing to look at somebody trying to interpret something as abstract as music and twist put into animation.
Other than the UPA nod, it's okay but as a sequel to the original was too late because by that time it was already 50 years old and since then what they could've done with it was already done by then because we've had time for other cartoons do their own twist with it such as UPA with various ones, Warner Bros by then already had What's Opera Doc? and their soundtracks already had titans such as Dumbo, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Also they had Leopold who is by all accounts, one of the most influential conductors of all time so it's okay but when it comes to various others, I can go with or without it.So how's Fantasia 2000 in your opinion?
All very true, although she addresses that more directly in this video. She uses quotes from Ashman to describe what "Wish" is mostly missing.Wish's issue is that the songs are so far removed from the movie that there's a love duet between the main character and the evil King.
Ashman: Music, for me, anyway, is information. It's a way to get character and plot information across, so you want music to be information. We want it to develop story or character in some way so the song will carry its own weight and justify its existence.
Ashman: Our particular tradition integrates music that has something to do with the culture we're living in, something to do with the popular song and not another kind of song that's purely theatrical. I'm telling a story through pop music.
iirc isn't Tiki Room basically its era's equivalent of Skater Boy and Who Let The Dogs OutDisney and it's productions/music is always been very timely to whatever era they came out in.
This sort of reinforces my previous criticism. All very true, although she addresses that more directly in this video. She uses quotes from Ashman to describe what "Wish" is mostly missing.
That sums it up. Wish had catchy songs that were devoid of information that was specific to the story and characters. LMM uses pop structure in ways that serve character, even if you don't like his style, and a lot of modern Broadway musicals are perfectly capable of doing this (like Six). Disney has just decoupled storytelling/songwriting for some reason, in a way that seasoned directors and writers would intuitively know is not the best approach.
Yup.iirc isn't Tiki Room basically its era's equivalent of Skater Boy and Who Let The Dogs Out
they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory how anyone born after the 1800s doesn't know to get shit in writing is beyond me, its the exact sort of retarded thinking atheists would mock christians for. they were 2nd only to pokemon when it came to videotapes sold during their height and they did all their business on handshake deals, its so naive. It literally just took one man dying and their entire empire crumpled literally overnight.falling hard in selling his soul to corporatism this side of Big Idea.
the King and I movie was considered shit when released in theaters and he only produced alpha&omega, from what i remember of his videos even as a kid they weren't quality and thats a big reason he was able to thrive in the "infotainment" field, some crappy tape you buy to keep the kids entertained during CCD or history class. he's always been an eric roberts type, which is why most of his output his entire life was direct to video.Richard is trapped in purgatory
pretty much, kids don't remember most things from their early childhood, or at least not the things you expect them to remember. especially pre-kindergarden. you could pretty much show them porn and they wouldn't remember. Every theater kid i know had parents who considered Rocky Horror an appropriate film to show to kids and they're much more normal than any freaks online. I know plenty of TERFs who's first crush was a certain sweet transvestite and they're also the first to want feeders and foot fetishists' on the wall they're that normal. (sorry null)It's for parents
THEN WHY DID SPIELBERG RECOMEND HER FOR THE JOB AND WHY DID SHE APPROVE HIS CHOICE FOR THE NEW HAN SOLO? YOUR OWN CLIPS ARE OUT OF CONTEXT AND SHIT, FUCK OFF AND DIEKathleen has bad blood with Spielberg and presumably Lucas
Why the fuck would you use this analogy here of all places?especially pre-kindergarden. you could pretty much show them porn and they wouldn't remember.
RHPS is so far removed from any real things it might as well be clownsEvery theater kid i know had parents who considered Rocky Horror an appropriate film to show to kids
Still wouldn't risk it. Tim Curry in drag might convince these kids to troon out as they grow older.RHPS is so far removed from any real things it might as well be clowns
Far as the rumors go, she was able to play nice until she got power. She was genuinely very good at networking but little else. Still the Hollywood top is actually a pretty small circle filled with huge egos so who you know and have a good word from weights a ton. Then Disney hired her and she thought this is it, I made it. She went all about me and my legacy because I'm actually smarter than all those men and was just kept down. She really did try to improve Lucas films but was bad at it. She is basically an absolutely horrible narcissist but her relatively low position kept her in check.THEN WHY DID SPIELBERG RECOMEND HER FOR THE JOB AND WHY DID SHE APPROVE HIS CHOICE FOR THE NEW HAN SOLO? YOUR OWN CLIPS ARE OUT OF CONTEXT AND SHIT, FUCK OFF AND DIE
