Just a personal observation. It's not uncommon at all for kids to wear dresses based on characters that aren't the same race as them, and the Asian kids seemed to pick Cinderella most often from what I saw.

If you mean you don't get why, I have no idea.
I go to conventions frequently and a lot of black girls go all out on Snow White costumes. Not trying to be funny, I mean they get very nicely made dresses, mimic the walk, ect. They seem to like the innocence and sweetness of the character, it's nice to see their love for the film.

Not one I've seen, just examples to give an idea of the costuming.

Edit because my message was partially missing.

tbh I could go on for a minute that the muppets really don't work outside of The Muppet Show and similar joke things of "the freakshows who couldn't even make it on SNL, but people who are sorta famous are working with them"
Jim really wanted to make them Mickey fucking Mouse and him riding that shit into the grave damned the IP
I wouldn't mind if the Muppets did more musicals based on great literature. Alice in Wonderland seems like it would be tailor-made for the Muppets. Unfortunately it looks like we're going to get something even more degenerate than that Muppets Tonight episode when they were parodying the orgasm scene in When Harry met Sally.

That just means White girls dressing up like Jasmine

Also we already know certain white girls love dressing up as Pocahontas (Liz Warren cough)

I still cant believe how half-assed most of the life action costumes are in comparison to cosplays.
At least the beauty and the beast one has the excuse of Emma Watson pushing for the dress to be like that, and Jasmine, Cinderella, Aurora, and maybe Mulan (forgot that even came out) look fine enough.

But with Snow White and Little mermaid its like the stylists legit hated the actresses (they probably did at least for Zegler) and the movie.

They straight up lord-farquaded the bitch. And the dress looks very very bad. Im happy she was the one cast tho instead of someone actually likeable having to wear this and be associated with this garbage film.

Ariel is a little less immediately offensive on the eyes, but it just looks so murky all the time, the actress looked more like ariel on the red carpet than in the film.

And yet this is all on millions of dollars of budget, somehow?

Next one (Tangled) is gonna be 2 white people again, so im curious to see wether they spontaneously remember how to style (and direct) or not. If so, its gonna be pretty funny looking back on people defending raceswaps for films that went out of their way to give them the worst product they possibly could.

I mean, its already starting with the love interest. Tangled stars the current disney it-boy for tween girls, while ariels love interest looked twice her age and Snow Whites love interest looked like he spikes drinks.

of Emma Watson pushing for the dress
I'm still mad about that. Furious. The story is about a nerd getting to live her fantasy in an enchanted Rococo French castle, not a homely autistic trying to teach girls to read in a country that has female authors including the one who wrote the book this movie was based on that's why it's in France, you ignorant tard.

Allegedly Tangled is gonna be directed by the dude that directed The Greatest Showman, which had a pretty bad plot/story but looked pretty good visually, and since he's already getting a fully developed and tested plot handed on a platter this time all they have to do is focus on the visuals and not divert too much. Helps that the only risk for awful cgi for this one are the chameleon and the horse, also.

Unlike the awful cgi everything sea-related in LM, and the dwarves in SW. Mirror mirror is definitely the superior live action snow white film for kids, especially visually.

Those dwarves are also humanised and only live in a group in the woods because the evil queen banished them for their disorder and get to do badass stuff, instead of being weird magical semi-creatures treated like children that only exist to service snow whites story, weirdly unprogressive for disney...

This isn't a super amazing song, but I want to give it credit for being a Mirror of "Friend like me" which shows that the people who made it watched the first movie and were attempting to do something interesting.
Late and gay but this is a great song. Some misses but great overall. "And if you're not convinced that I'm invincible, put me to the test" is a great quote, and before jewtube nuked comments, people would make lists (top 5 anime betrayals, etc) with Jafar's thumb as #1.

Animated original: Jafar launches the palace tower Aladdin is in like a rocket

Live action remake: Jafar taps his staff against the floor to teleport Aladdin
And then (in the animated original) Aladdin digs out Carpet out of the snow and accidentally dislodges the tower! This and the cat head collapsing on Aladdin are the two best scenes in the movie that's packed with awesome. Can't have that if he's teleported without a tower.

when was the last time you had the 3 leads all white? i'm thinking Beauty and the Beast a decade ago, thats how much even Disney is backpedaling on woke, thats odd right? especially when you think of how long the pipeline is, this will release in 2028, it feels like the studios in general will all be Mr.moderate by then. even wigger Marty Supreme openly admits he's done being a wigger this year.

No, do you not remember when they made a live action tv show a couple years back?

It must have taken extreme restraint not to name it "Robbin' Hood."

Ironically, this is similar to the only way to make a functional 'live-action' Disney Robin Hood remake. It would need to portray the characters as humans with reference to their animal counterparts, in a pastiche of both the 1973 and 1938 adaptations, similar to Pirates of the Caribbean's roots in prior swashbuckling cinema. With the right imagination, it could be novel enough for a trilogy.

I'm surprised Disney never did a movie on Red Riding Hood given it's one of the more well-known fairy tales.
True, though they had made a Silly Symphony where they paired that story with the Three Little Pigs characters.

Of course, now I imagine how they'd expand that to fit in songs and other unnecessary comic relief characters on the side.

Late to this myself, but this is a good example of, may I be forgiven for saying this, "diversity" and I'm down for it versus changing the actual character's race or gender itself. After all, a fictional character can be relatable to ANYONE who happens to relate to them, and you CAN'T change your skin color in real life, so Black (I'll be kind and capitalize) girls who relate to Snow White or Cinderalla, and make the effort to look as lovely as the princesses? Yes, I do applaud their dedication to the literal craft of costuming!

It's the race/genderswaps of the characters themselves that's the issue, because they're all products of their era including demographics and culture, and should be known and acknowledged as such. European myths and American tall tales always had their characters as White because Europe was like 100% and America 90% White for all their history till the last 40 years, just as we expect Chinese mythology to feature, y'know, Chinese people. If leftists want cultural appropriation to be seen as a real issue, then they need to be on alert for White stuff being appropriated by other races as much as they whistle on "whitewashing." But we know they don't.

I'm just old enough - back when I visited conventions a good fifteen years or so ago - it wasn't nearly as pozzed as nowadays, smaller cons were especially normie-tier, and if you saw a non-White cosplaying Naruto or whatever you could grin seeing the inanity of a real-life Black Naruto but know the dude just really liked Naruto, hence where's the harm in him dressing up as such? It was all in good fun, y'know? And now I consider it a pity that good-natured default assuming is rapidly disappearing, if it hasn't already.

@Mayor Cody Travers

I can't quote you, but at least the shows I attend, people of any race dress up as their favorite character and get tons of praise and attention. On this site we see the worst of the worst and it makes the whole world seem crazy but in real life it's not that bad.

Plus the people who really get worked up about it are largely cowards who would never dare to get in some one's face, saving it only for social media.

That absolutely pleases me to hear, especially when I get dejected from any of the latest news kerfluffles!

I sometimes need to remember to not let the online world influence me as much as it has. We've got real issues in society right now or else "the Culture Wars" wouldn't be a thing. But it's always a genuine pleasure to be reminded the real world is much bigger, and more often than not, willing to surprise me with how good-natured it is when the chips are down.
