Kids don't fucking care about activism of any kind, unless they were brainwashed by their parents to care.
I think these kinds of themes work better under a universal banner of good or altruism, rather than a shoddy movement with poor rhetoric. Nobody brings up any issues of Ferngully's main message to protect nature, because the people who want this are mystical fairies and woodland animals, and the main villain is Tim Curry. Godzilla fighting a pollution monster works cause its fucking Godzilla. Activists just have agendas, many of which contradict each other and lead to nothing.

and the main villain is Tim Curry.

everything is better when Tim Curry is the villain

G vs The Smog Monster is really a brilliant combination of the OG Godzilla being a metaphor for a threat to humanity, the way the series turned into monster wrasslin, and the way that atomics were moving to a way to defeat conventional sources of pollution by replacing coal plants rather than explosion makers

I'd say he makes for a SMASHING hero too.

It really works. He is a good metaphor for nuclear power as a whole. It can be harmful but it is our best hope too.

Shame nuclear power in the west world has been shat on for decades by certain "green energy parties" that are all commies if you start looking into them.

They are also all bought and paid for by oil and coal if you look even deeper. Because the best way to ensure everyone keeps using oil and coal is to have them use something worse (electric vehicles and solar/wind power) rather than the viable better solution (nuclear).

The fishing industry does the same shit with "save the ocean" groups to force everyone to identify the problem as "climate change" rather than over fishing.

Wow, Zilly, thanks for making your beloved film sound like the most overly touchy, space-invading, condescending activist who treats me like I’m a poor widdle angwy wannabe activist who’s constantly in a doomer mood. Of course I’ll throw my money at Disney now!
Also I’ve gotten so sick of the term “eat the rich” because of how much internet commies spew it. May whoever popularized it step on a million thumbtacks.

Imagine thinking people are watching your movie because of all of this and not because a funny beaver is a better sell to families than a one-eyed mexican faggot.

"It's also quietly woke...." I've heard enough.

I don't need to watch a movie to "subvert expectations" and being preached at the same time, I watched to be entertained and to separate myself from the stress of life itself.

Exactly. I’m fucking tired of media, especially media primarily made for kids trying to be some form of woke/current year political, whether it be “quiet” or “loud”. Had to put down a book I was reading because it was very clear that the author was passive aggressively going on about overthrowing dictators, school book bans and whatnot and once again turning a potentially interesting character into a Trump allegory.
…I did not mean to rant. I am just so tired, boss.

I miss when Disney just made movies that wasn't so on-the-nose preaching. As much as possible, I expose my godchildren to old cartoons instead of the modern slop when there's a chance. My goddaughter actually enjoyed the old Popeye and Betty Boop cartoons, oddly enough.

The last movie I saw that was animated that had no intent from the audience to sell some rhetoric but actually give a sincere story was Puss in Boots 2. And I half expected that movie to suck like the last one.

It has a date now:

I will start off by destroying @Vyse Inglebard hopes and dreams. Sorry man, have to do it to you to announce this...
I'm glad I'm not gen Alpha and don't have to deal with soy millennial parents forcing me to watch live action Disney slop remakes and sequels. So happy I grew up with the original.

We will also be seeing the return of my favorite twerking crack whore Miley Cyrus as she returns to having the best of both worlds on March 24th.
This is so pathetic. The company as a whole has been fucked for quite some time and this is just a sad attempt at trying to keep whatever "fans" they have left. It's a VERY desperate move from them that essentially says this:
ccle328l1iq21.jpg

No one asked for sequels to these movies, the endings were fine on their own. Incredibles 2 was something that should have done at the peak of the 1st movie's success, and now we have a bandwagon of a VERY late bandwagon. I don't recall many people even talking about the 2nd movie aside from how much it sucked and/or paled in comparison to the first one.

Also how the hell did they sucker Miley Cyrus into doing this? "hey listen, just put up with this shit for a little while and we will give you all the cocaine and cocks you can ever dream of!"
