There’s also the fact that there’s no real way of watching the shows of other streaming services without also paying for it; TV channels were better with being able to see their shows without a pay wall. Though, you could just pirate those shows.

I remember the days when Netflix had a good, varied selection - and this was only a few years ago. Now they barely have anything.

I want to think physical media will be a niche product, like vinyl is now.

Netflix used to be just a DVD rental service back in the day; they’re killing their old form of investments.

We actually discussed this in a class I had the other day. Sales of physical media have been declining for years and eventually it might reach the point where it's just not profitable to sell them. Meanwhile streaming services have exploded because people prefer sacrificing ownership of a product for the sake of convenience.

It's fucking depressing.
It's a shame people would rather be sheep in this case.

This movie just keeps sounding more and more like a dumpster fire. Its hard to believe they wasted so much money making this. They also say they removed Mushu so as to not offend Chinese audiences despite this being the same culture that grounded up and destroyed dinosaur bones and sold them as super dragon medicine.

Speaking of which; I know know that it's possible that people back in the medieval times thought dinosaur bones were dragon bones. I can't remember where I heard that from though.

The coronavirus showing up now of all times when this turkey is about to be released is the funniest goddamn thing to me. Disney directly panders to China and then gets cucked by a virus that originated from China. The odds were astronomical and yet here we are :story:

Chinese audiences aren't going to take to this either.

The SJW types are all up in arms about getting rid of the love interest, too, and while I doubt they'll have much of an impact on the box office... wouldn't it be nice if they did?

The last few times I rode it I got the impression Jungle Cruise isn't beating well maintained at all (and this was years ago)

It's a shame because it's an underrated ride, it deserves better treatment.
The Carousel of Progress is in a similar situation, sadly. Although it seemed to be in alright shape when I went on it last year, there have been recent reports of broken speakers, effects not working, and animatronics missing hands:

Well fuck. I loved that ride as a kid. A shame to see it in such a state.

‘Scuse my sperging but the carousel theater shows (America Sings and Carousel of Progress) are shows I’ve always wanted to see but were both before my time and shuffled out and moved. Shows like these are just full of some pure optimistic wholesomeness and are a dying breed. It’s upsetting that they’re neglecting them for shit like Star Wars and Avatar. It’s been years but I’m forever upset over the loss of Country Bears in Disneyland.

Ok I await my puzzle pieces.

Some of us poor kids never got to go to Disney Land when we were young. This is the only "Carousel of Progress" I'm familiar with...
How accurate is it?

Martin's videos on youtube aren't the exact same as being there but they're not bad to get an idea of how it looks/looked.

I don't have it handy but there was a pic probably ten years ago of Maelstrom looking really ragged around the polar bears.

Perfect analogy to the progress of Disney and the world in general. Speaking of the parks, since I have never had the chance to go, it sucks to hear how this kind of attractions are getting replaced with IP commercials, I mean, those always exited but at least for me DisneyWorld was always described as a place where you could visit your favorite animated movies but also original concepts like pirates of the Caribbean. When was the last time that they made an original ride not based on an existing IP?

and of course there's Horizons for the long-dead optimistic future

Definitely corny in places but here’s a documentary on two guys outsmarting WDW security in order to archive every part of Horizons before it was torn down.

Yesterday, I hear twitter crying out fowl for Disney's take on Artemis Fowl, which give me the impression that along with Mulan 2020 joining the Jellicle Club of big BO losers, Disney being clueless on trying to get brownie points for the "mainstream" audience and Chapek being prime Disney supervillain material, this may be their Terrible, Horrible, No-Good Very-Bad Year not long after Bob Iger completing his "Live long enough to see yourself as a tragic media conglomerate villain" story arc.
