🐱 Disney Parks Entangled In Possible Felony After Engaging in "Cultural Appropriation"

CatParty

As Disney continues to find itself on an island surrounded by the waters of controversy, another storm of backlash may already be brewing.

Everyone knows that a long day at the Disney Parks is better than a short day at work. But you can only walk around Main Street, U.S.A., or Tomorrowland so much until it becomes unbearable to take another step.

Here’s where Disney’s newest experience comes in. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort now hosts the Tenaya Stone Spa, which is a beautiful space for those looking to relax and unwind after a long day in Disneyland. But recently, the integrity of this new spa has been put into question with one reporter getting a “something is very wrong here” feeling from it.

The Tenaya Stone Spa, which spans a whopping 6,000 square feet officially opened on September 16, 2021, and offers jaw-dropping details and amenities.

However, in a clear, concise, and highly critical report from Deanne Revel at Fodor’s, the origins of a supposedly sacred rock are in question along with ethical decisions made by Disney. If certain claims are true, Disney could possibly face some serious consequences. The specifics of the controversy involve when, where, and how the stone, which lays at the center of the spa, was acquired.

The report is filled to the brim with nothing but respect for indigenous people groups and outlines details regarding the stone and culture surrounding it. Upon reading the report further, Disney may have even committed a felony by including the Tenaya Stone that stands at the center. As stated in the report, to the Miwuk tribal members from which the stone originates, the real issue goes beyond cultural appropriation and leans more toward “cultural theft”.

It should be incredibly apparent that The Walt Disney Company is already dealing with multiple controversies with its stance on Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill being highly criticized. Disney also recently faced backlash after a cheer group performed an incredibly racist and offensive showat Walt Disney World.

Interestingly enough, when asked if any proceeds from the spa would go back to Indigenous people as a way to “make up” for the missing stone, Disney didn’t answer.

Needless to say, the last thing Disney needs is more controversy, but as shown in the report from Revel, it looks like we may be on the eve of another big story breaking. Be sure to check out the incredibly-well written report here.

Hates to be on Disney side but if they were gifted the stone (as the report say), they own it. And they can do whatever they want with it. Your sacred injuns go cry some more

Stop trying to go High road when these people want your kids raped, You want to lose with dignity ? is your honor really worth allowing them free reign ? You Aristocratic Neolib ?

Just have the Imagineers make a fake rock. Nobody goes to the Harry Potter park and expects to see a real dragon. The dumb bitches visiting Disney don't care if the hoodoo is legitimate they just want to take a picture with it for instagram likes.
I'd be willing to bet that it is either already a fake rock pile, or made using some that the designer picked out for esthetic reasons at a quarry/landscaping store.

I swear this is just Disney trying to drum up controversy in hopes the stunt will get asses into the seats of their declining parks. I've heard from multiple people that the Disney parks have really gone downhill the last couple years, even pre-pandemic. I've also heard people say that you'll have a better time for less money at the Universal parks if that's your thing.
I went there about 30 years ago, and I could tell you the same conclusion. The best you get from Disney is saying "I went to Disney", but if I had the money to go there, I'd rather do anything else in Florida. There are definitely better parks to go where the actual experience is more fun and you will enjoy it more.

2. Chief Tenaya has descendants in a lot of tribes, so it doesn't make sense to just ask the dipshit Miwuk but not confer with the other Miwok, as well as the Paiutes, the Monos, the Yokuts, and the Washoes as affected. Obviously Disney went with the ones who would go along with their dumb story or they didn't ask anyone at all (which is more likely given that the rock probably came from the lot the spa sits on).
Sacred rock stolen from half a dozen tribes; Miwuk most affected.

Cypress Gardens is now part of Legoland, I think. Never got to go, but I remember the pics of it and it was beautiful.
I went to Busch Gardens and Parrot Jungle. I think I remember those more than Disney. If I could go now, I'd repeat those and Medieval Times. Space Center too.

iirc I've heard most of the Cypress Gardens parts are still there, and they more built Legoland and Peppa Pig in and around the existing stuff?

As I understand it, Cypress Gardens was originally botanical gardens, which they built a small "theme park" around with mostly shows and other stuff, this was the version that existed for decades and that I went to when I was much younger, like, 1995-1996ish.

Then it closed not too long after 9/11, got nearly torn down for condos, and reopened a few years later with more modern theme park rides. Then THAT got closed due to bankruptcy (delayed opening due to hurricanes, declining economy, whatever), and then it re-opened as LEGOLAND, which kept the gardens part, re-themed some of the rides, and added a bunch of their own stuff. The original park had women dressed as Southern belles in the gardens part, and I remember seeing a picture of LEGO versions of Southern belles...but apparently that's probably not okay anymore because some dead druggie in Minnesota or something like that. So I don't know anymore.
