Disney's Christopher Robin - a.k.a. there are now officially too many sequels...THE SEQUEL

Well the full trailer dropped

Looks pretty basic childhood nostalgia "AM I NOT TUGGING YOUR HEARTSTRINGS?" fare. The trailer does an excellant job of spoiling everything that happens in the movie which i guess is thoughtful

Honestly im so fucking jaded and cynical and drunk that 30 seconds in I started hallucinating that it was a Ted ripoff Adam Sandler style shitflic with crappy pop music and cut-away gags with pooh taking a loud messy shit in christopher robin's office bathroom while everybody outside listens in silence, or kanga dropkicking roo for some stupid reason, or eyore making a trump joke.

I will praise Chris O'Dowd's Tigger voice, and Brad Garrett as Eeyore couldn't go wrong, but the other voices just sound weird.

Are we sure that's still Chris O'Dowd as Tigger? It sounds like they replaced him with Cummings.

Yeah, they got Cummings to do him.

Shame, I was actually interested in O'Dowd's take on the character.
Disney probably figured that Pooh and Tigger have the most iconic and recognizable voices in the franchise. O'Dowd was probably more far off than what they were comfortable with.

True, but there's something so sweet and precious about it. This is coming from someone who isn't super into the series.

I will give the trailer that: They manage to give Pooh and friends a proper worn out toy look, which in my opinion is not all that bad looking.

I will agree though, the new trailer obviously spoils a shitton of stuff going on.
Also I was spot on with this being pretty much the Calvin and Hobbes: 20 years later movie.

Since the trailer's spoiling stuff, I'm choosing to not watch it so I can go in as blind as possible (but it'll probably be shown in front of Incredibles 2). I'll be making a wild guess that the movie won't ever bring up, even in passing, that Christopher married his cousin and their daughter had cerebral palsy. If they do, they'll never say it out loud.

Real Christopher Robin hated Winnie The Pooh too.

I'm guessing Ewan McGregor's playing fictional Christopher Robin.

I wouldn't doubt they're going the fictitious route here, and it's the Christopher Robin from the book as an adult, having moved on but this happens.

Someone I know said this was Disney making their version of "Hook" while trying to bring in the "Paddington" numbers.

The plot sounds like its about halfway "Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin" but in reverse.

That said, everyone looks okay EXCEPT, surprisingly, and wow what a fuck up this one is, Owl. Like, WTF? He only appears once in the trailer, so I had to go back and see what it was I was horrified at, and the thing is, he looks WAY too realistic. Like he is apparently the size of Piglett and Roo here, and is definitely a lot shorter than Kanga. Its like, did Disney forget what Owl's character is? I can't imagine this realistic owl being the boring storyteller he used to be portrayed as, nor as the Brains whenever the gang needed one to fit that mold.

Tigger's voice sounds exactly the same when he isn't done by Paul Winchell. Perhaps Jim Cummings really is voicing him, so that's good.

Okay, and so does this mean the 100 Acre Wood is in a different dimension? I loved that nod to when Pooh got stuck from eating too much honey. And okay, Pooh has lied, and his friends haven't even vanished at all.

And, alright interesting, so the gang (or just limited to Pooh, Piglett, Tigger and Eeyore from what I saw) goes into the "normal world" to find CR, and meet his daughter. Fine enough. In the 80s/90s Pooh Cartoon they actually did often interact like they were living. They spoke on telephones, went grocery shopping, walked the dog.

And I've noticed.... Where is Rabbit? Maybe I should go through the trailer one more time, but I didn't notice. And also, where the fuck is Gopher? He might have not been "in the book" but he's clearly a staple.

I'd probably be more psyched for this movie if it was 2D animated.

All of your posts are goddamn treasures. As a kid I always thought Owl and Rabbit were actual animals rather than toys. Even though Rabbit was yellow. Proud to be right.
