Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective to get live-action remake

Ya know given how utterly, utterly forgettable these remakes have proven to be, how long are you chaps thinking before Disney winds up re-remaking movies they already live actioned.

Like are we gonna see a new live action beauty and the beast in 3 or 4 years with an obese black tranny as belle? or maybe a brand new interpretation of Cinderella with the evil stepmother wearing a MAGA hat?

Calling bullshit until a better source, just too many more mainstream and well know Disney movies they will remake first, even see them doing a unneeded Lion King 2 and Aladdin 2 before this.

They are goddamned fools if they think they can pull this off when Vincent Price was 80% of the reason the original is such a beloved classic in the first place.

If you want to watch a live action version of this story, just watch a Sherlock Holmes movie! There's PLENTY!

For fucks sake... as someone who grew up sucking Der Maus' cock as a child, these days I feel like this meme sums up my feelings of what it feels like to be a Disney fan these days

I've been waiting all my life for a realistic version of Bambi where the hunter is some rural beer-swilling old fuck suffering from bad health and a failing marriage, and most of the movie is him getting falldown drunk as he tries and fails to enjoy his miserable retirement and indulge in the one hobby he still sort of enjoys but can't keep up with anymore. They could have set it in my home town and filmed it as a documentary, even.

I’m not familiar with the source material. Are the books any different that maybe doing a new adaptation would be worthwhile, or perhaps adapting one of the other stories? Again, given how Disney does these things, it’s most likely a scene for scene remake we’ll be getting, but I can see other Basil stories having potential if they’re any good.

To be honest, I've never read the books.

But if the past remakes are anything to go by, they aren't going to try and "make it closer to the source material". They are just going to redo almost everything from the original film, but make it longer, and less good.
