There are 3 prominent theories of the overarching background factor for why the Indians 'lost' America:
Germ narrative: The Indians were severely weakened and often outright destroyed by disease the Europeans brought over making them ripe for the picking
Development narrative: America was not very densely populated or developed compared to the old world making it easier for the Europeans to come sweeping in.
Extermination narrative: The Indians densely populated America and were well developed relative to the old world yet somehow a ragtag group of criminals, religious fanatics, nutcases, and assorted undesirables shipped across the ocean who all hated each other managed to build up their strength and kick the asses of the Indians so thoroughly they practically wiped them off two continents. Nobody else in history from the smallest tribe facing the most advanced army. From the cruelest dictator to the most genius of military commanders of all time facing the most inept. None have gotten their asses kicked as thoroughly and completely as the Indians did. Every other tribe in history has managed to somehow survive or fight their way to a better outcome but the Indians took the L all the way to the very bottom. And just so we're clear this victory of yt's is overwhelmingly due to the Europeans kicking the Indians ass so badly. With disease and other factors playing at most a secondary often implied to be a far less important role.
In recent decades and especially within the past few years, the Extermination narrative has become the overwhelming favorite of the mainstream media and those claiming to like the Indians. To the point where anyone championing other theories, mostly the Germ narrative are called racist. But....isn't it kinda the most insulting narrative? It basically calls the indians the weakest biggest losers in history overwhelmed by European martial prowess to a degree nobody else has been in history. Even saying the indians weren't as technologically advanced while it can be interpreted as insulting isn't as insulting as claiming that Indians were advanced too but somehow still got their asses handed to them.
So why does everybody act like telling Indians that they got their butts kicked more than anyone else in history and it was primarily due to how superior the Europeans were at overpowering them treated as such a nice and respectful thing to say?
