Let's Sperg Do gamers not understand proper aspect ratios anymore? - Do you know what the difference is between a human and a midget?

Let me tell you what grinds my gears when I'm watching gaming videos on YouTube. People that upload ugly as fuck gaming videos in the wrong aspect ratio.

Exhibit A: Xmen vs Street Fighter

This is what humans look like. Notice how they look like humans with proper human proportions. (Aaaaaackshually, Akuma is a demon but that's beside the point)

This is what midgets look like. Notice how they're shorter and wider than the above pic. It's like someone tried to squash them into a pancake.

This looks like shit. Stop uploading gaming videos like this to the Internet.

Exhibit B: Resident Evil 2

This is what a human Leon Kennedy looks like. Notice how everything looks just right. Leon has a tall slim figure. This is complemented by a door that looks like a door for humans to go through. Finally, notice the perfectly (more or less) circle target symbol on the poster above.

This is what a midget Leon Kennedy looks like. I don't need words to describe this. Look at it with your own eyes: everything looks wrong and it looks like shit. Notice how the target symbol is now a sideways oval (because the screen was forced into a widescreen ratio).

Is this problem because of differences between high IQ/low IQ people? Developed world/3rd world niggers? Older gamers/younger gamers? This problem mainly affects retro games because the screens were meant to fit in a squarish TV, not the widescreen TVs we have today. But once you notice this problem, you can't not see it anymore and you'll curse anyone that uploads video game midgets.

They are just retarded and don't know about widescreen patches.

Anyway this is going to be a problem for older games on newer displays and it's been problem for a while. Some people just can't stand the black bars on the sides of the image. So they force it into a 16:9 resolution instead of just playing in the original 4:3. On PCSX2 you can get widescreen patches for some games. Xbox backwards compatibility fixes this with some older Xbox games.

My solution was to get a handheld device with a 640x480 4:3 aspect ratio.

The worst offender for me is Max Payne. I have still seen some videos playing with that fucked up stretched 4:3 when the widescreen fix is should be common fucking knowledge. The widescreen fixes site provides an example, luckily.

Can you see how much better that is? Max doesn't look fucking fat as shit now. Do people that play the game like this not wonder something like "hmmm...the game looks kinda weird..."?

After some years of having the unfortunate experience with "gamers", a lot of them are retards with no skills outside clicking shit on a screen. Many of them don't have any actual computer skills beyond moding games and setting up a OBS template for streaming (at best). Finding someone who both knows how to set up stuff properly and then still having an interest to play games is rare. Most people who were "tech-savvy" moved on to other stuff other than playing games.

"Gamers" are retarded and have always been.

lmao, even the bottom left icon looks fat. As if the game is saying to the player: "this aspect ratio is too wide, dumbass!"

I am astonished over whatever retard behind uploading 3DS footage like this thought it looked okay.

I feel like I'm morphing into a hammerhead shark trying to read the wideass text.

Most people never owned a CRT TV before so if they are ignorant about screen sizes of old games, that's a bit understandable. But everyone knows what a Nintendo DS and 3DS looks like. Both the DS and 3DS have dual square screens so you would think the retards would stop to ask themselves "maybe it's not meant to be widescreen like this"

widescreen just as the developers intended.png

I'm guessing it's zoomers who never experienced 4:3 really and they just think this fixes the issue.
I don't think they didn't experience 4:3, CRTs were still widely used up until 2006 or so. What I've found is that many have an irrational fear of side black bars (for some reason, they don't have a problem with "cinematic" black bars on top and bottom). Maybe it's too liminal for them.

4:3 was the OG shit. Why not 4x4? I want my cube damnit.
Oddly enough, this is part of the problem. Doom is a great example. It was designed with non-square pixels in mind. The result is some ports, or people running source ports, insist on square pixels or interger scaling, and it ruins the aspect ratio as a result.
