Do inmates in Texan prisons deserve air conditioning?

Solution
If we believe in prison as rehabilitation, getting people fit to rejoin society and become productive members of it, then they deserve dignity and proper living conditions. If they are too far gone to ever rejoin society, then execute them. I don't support sadist prison guards/wardens making that call by acting as executioners by proxy.
As much as I think most prisoners need to take their lumps and not coast through the system, The Texan Sun is built diffrent.

I would think they'd have if for nothing but keeping the anger climate down. I wouldn't want to have to deal with an inmate who is irate just from the heat.

@Cats is the man you want to talk to regarding this matter.

Could have sworn I already commented on this thread. I guess I was tired when I woke up and checked my notifs and decided to come back later.

As much as I hated that fucking heat with a passion. Prison is supposed to be an unforgiving, shitty place that you don't WANT to go. I would gladly work another ten years in even hotter conditions if it made the crime rate go down. The fact that we had one of the roughest no-camera units where violence was a near weekly occurrence, but somehow the heat was still the worst part of that job, should tell you all you need to know about how hot it was. I could sit here for hours and rail on and complain about the heat in those fucking units.

But no. they don't "deserve" air conditioning. They are in prison. The time spent there should be as uncomfortable as humanely possible. The heat actually makes our jobs 1000x harder because we have to carry giant gatorade coolers full of ice water around and pass them out sometimes throughout the day. At least the fucking inmates can lounge around on their bunk all day. It is the officers who suffer most from the heat. One thing about working for the Texas prison system if you do your job like you are supposed to then you are sure to stay in good shape. 100+ degree heat, running up and down stairs, brawling+toting heavy water coolers all day. I miss it sometimes but then I remember that now I get to have AC all day long

Yeah, prison has never been about rehabilitation. It was a nice theory, but never happened in practice.
