Do other zoomers not find the whole "I am so proud of the younger generation so heccin progressive and will save us from evil rightoids" corny as sin?

*Another comment that goes something along the lines of "Gen Z is here, and they're pissed at repubs for taking away women's rights" or something gay like that*
The only other confirmed zoomer here is @Boss Hawg. I don't talk about politics with my irl friends so don't know how they feel about it but I can't imagine any of them reading any of the above comments and not going "HOLY CORNY!"

Like screw off faggot I ain't your personal army. And just so you know, I'd feel the same way if some MAGA started talking about how zoomers are here to defend God's values or something like that. Like I said, not your personal army.

"If you're not left-wing at 20, you have no heart. If you're not right-wing at 40, you have no brain". It's a well-known phenomenon that people tend to become more conservative as they get older. No shit that a demographic who's oldest members are currently on the cusp of being 30 will overwhelmingly skew left-wing at the moment.

Also, on the specific subject being talked about in the screenshots: The issue is a bit more nuanced than the "LGBT" acronym tries to make out. Most people are fine with the first three letters, but not the fourth. Unless you're religious (which most people now just aren't) then there really isn't any real, obvious reason to be against people being gay or bisexual. Transgenderism is something else entirely, that's been grafted onto a movement about something almost entirely different, and on some level requires you to reject reality in order to "accept" (and not merely tolerate) it.

I don't think you get my point. It's not about political leanings. It's about embracing corny "wearing your politics on your sleeve" thing that happens to have a progressive flavor that makes it even cringier. Like dude who cares, we're all gonna die anyways. If you hold strong political positions, okay fine. But if you're gonna flaunt it and act like you're some sort of hero for saving the world from the evil (insert opposing side), then you're a faggot, regardless of your alignment.

Why do people quote this as some sort of universal truth? It was juat a quote by Churchill, which has no weight or authority in and of itself. Plus, we're seeing a lot of older people skew left-leaning than in generations past and a lot of right-leaning people in the younger generations. Conservatism and liberalism have more to do with the values instilled in you as you were growing up than with growing up in and of itself nowadays.

I think a lot of kids lean more leftward today than in the past due to schools and television/the Internet raising them and instilling them with liberal values than their parents.

Also, yes it is corny when people try to praise the kids of today for being heckin based conservatives or valid liberals. It shows that they enjoy the performative aspect of politics rather than the making sane rules for a sane society to function part. Honestly, kods shouldn't have political opinions. They're too young to make sense of the world and all of its complexities and nuances. If the adults were doing their job, they would be guided well and become good adults/parents/citizens. The dysfunction in society at large is rooted in the dysfunction in so many homes, relationships and individuals across the country.

I think the people who post such things buy into the narrative that Gen Z is the "most progressive generation" in history or something like that. If I recall in the past some conservative radio pundit talked about how Gen Z will be the new "Greatest Generation" so maybe it can go both ways.

I would imagine it depends on the region and household because public schools push one agenda while parents may have another. There are probably personality factors involved too because some kids are more meek than others while the more rebellious ones will think everything authority figures say is gay and retarded.

Not sure how what I wrote was irrelevant? I was saying that being more progressive is just a sign of being young, not something inherent to being part of Gen Z. There's no reason not to expect that Gen Z won't stray further to the right as they get older, just as previous generations have, and thus the people boasting how "Gen Z are going to destroy everything conservatives value!" are going to have egg on their face.

It is unwholesome to be assimilating the youth this way, using other people as props for one's own political identity is always exploitative and doing it with a "right-on!" progressive, RSoH flavour just makes it worse. Because if the target doesn't fall in line with that prescribed doctrine of niceness they're demoted into the role of LitEral NAzI and are de-personed by the left-winger.

I'm trying to remember if I ever heard that sort of thing from my elders back in the 80s/90's but I just remember the youth being bemoaned and demonised, as they should be. I think the prevailing narrative was that the youth were ignorant yobs, eroding the fabric of society. But there was nothing like the amount of political and demographic tribalism and id-pol we have today.

Probably
Just like we i did growing up
The fact that my generation haven't grasped by now that people get more Conservative as we age is beyond me
