Do you really need another reason to avoid using any Google services?

Well, there were Windows phones for a bit, but... lol.

Mobile market is not a good one right now due to the Apple/Android duopoly but I can't see it changing any time soon.
If you're on an Android phone, there's still steps you can make to make it less bad. Find the privacy settings and turn _everything_ off. Unless you do this, not only are they tracking your location every minute of the day and storing it in the cloud for LEOs and who knows what other purposes, but they even track things like what you do in individual applications. Turn off all tracking, clear existing data. Disable location services and bluetooth unless you have a good reason to have them on.

Set up a VPN, set it to 'always on' mode so the phone will not connect (unless you explicitly turn it off) to internet services without a VPN.

Install FDroid, change to as many non-Google apps and services as possible, especially get things like your email off Google mail apps and into opensource apps as much as possible, disable the Google account on your phone if possible.
