Why? why not? Would you still support it if the status quo was in your favor (ie, you're wealthy)?
I want to hear random kiwi opinions on this fascinating topic, thank you

if you believe in accelerationism then you believe thing will get worse but it need to get to certain point for shit to break and for the system to eventually heal itself to normalcy or for the system to be completely upended.

Wether you want it back to certain point or for the system to come crashing down, it make sense to want to accelerate the process like ripping a bandaid as fast as possible instead of slowly ripping it away. There's also the idea that thing are moving too slowly and while it will crash and burn, if you do not accelerate you might just never benefit yourself from it otherwise.

Yes in some form im in agreement with accelerationism but im too lazy to go fight and die for it. im still too resigned and comfortable for it yet.

"Surely the total collapse of society will inevitably cause MY ideology to rise triumphant from the ashes!"

No. Accelerationists are retarded faggots who have no idea the hell they're asking to be unleashed on the world, and would kill themselves in the first two hours of no home tendie deliveries if they actually got their wish.

My only wish is for my kids to enjoy the same very comfortable existence I have enjoyed. I don't honestly give a toss what happens to anyone else. So, no, I'm fine with how things are now. I can see they are Not Optimal in all sorts of ways, but a massive social change isn't going to benefit me or my family, so I'm not in favour of that.

tl;dr we are winning and do not want any blue shell thanks

On one hand I wish that the insanity of the modern first world will hit a breaking point that will cause actual introspection as to how we got here in the first place. On the other hand I wish we could actually heal our societies and make the world a better place. The realist in me tells me that both of my hands will fill up with shit before either happens.

Could be both at the same time, it's happened before.

People grew much taller after the Western Roman Empire collapsed because they were freed from the brutal taxes, serfdom and outright slavery that were widespread under the late Empire. There probably wasn't anybody outside the elite that mourned the fall of Rome, it was either business as usual or things suddenly got a lot better.

No, I used to be a doomer and I was retarded back then.
Living in the current year is mostly really good.
People just take way too many things for granted but with accelerated downfall of the society we have now, all of that shit would go away, maybe for a long time, maybe forever.
Everyone's a tough rebel who is wishing for a collapse until their back teeth are hurting and there are no dentists anymore.

No. The defining characteristic of the accelerationist is a lack of meaning and purpose intrinsic to themselves, not to the amorphous forces of "society," and believing billions must die just so they can stop feeling adrift and bad about themselves is a height of narcissism and puerility. It is frustration at their own failings of character manifesting the same way a two year old's frustration at not getting more time at mommy's milkers does

We don’t live in an autarkic agrarian societies anymore. Countries like the UK and Australia would be totally fucked without international trade. They hardly manufacture anything and what they do manufacture is made with imported feedstock. How are you going to irrigate your crops without pumps? How will you fertilise without ammonium nitrate?

No, I have no faith that it would even work. The idea seems predicated on the expectation that people's tolerance has limits, but it doesn't seem to factor in the seemingly infinite cowardice & stupidity of modern man, his degree of complacency, and the ease of sustainability for the bread & circus to continue, thus ensuring that even if such limits exist in theory that they'll probably never be reached.

Of course, the only alternative seems to be just letting society rot and age out so that any who'd have a reasonable tipping point to resort to resistance are no longer able or willing to, leaving a herd of pure sheep. Just let the frogs boil.

Well, there is one more alternative. Two, actually. Embracing it is one, which liberals do. The other is denialism; it's easier to ignore, downplay, or reject wholly the notion that there's significant, worsening, (currently) reversible conditions in society brought about by design via malevolent forces, both domestic and foreign. Why anybody would choose that is probably due to perceived powerlessness or being more insulated from problems (aka, the selfish and/or short-sighted wealthy).

No. Civilization will collapse at some point, as it always has, but "acceleration" is just an edgy reactionary-tinted rebranding of "revolution". If you personally can rise to a position of power that lets you run things off a cliff, that will be your right as one of the Great Men of History. If you're a big fan of MATI and Metokur streams, probably just keep playing video games and maybe try and find a girlfriend.

Yeah because it seems the only ones who have can actually put a stop to bad ideas only learn through consequence. Take a look at this AI stuff, everyone is warning silicon valley that this is a bad idea, but do they listen? No. Let's take liberal progressivism for example, it makes people unhappy and increases human suffering. But does its proponents ever listen? No.

For things to change, America would have to collapse or lose some sort of war.

It depends on if you have a plan or not. For all you know you could be doing the legwork of your enemies. It is satisfying to gum up the works though, to throw a monkey wrench in, making something that's already broken even worse for your own benefit or enjoyment.

Ideology is like any other tool, it all relies on the hand that uses it.
