Does anyone kinda feel 'hollow' coming here after quite a while?

Well honestly part of it is the drop in users is simply down to the fact null screwed over a ton of accounts with the password lock and registrations being closed. There's really no guarantee these people are going to return if the farms ever comes back to 100%.

That's an entirely normal reaction. You're going to lose interest in things now and then and to be honest the world of lolcows isn't as exciting as it used to be. I'd suggest dusting off an older hobby for a while and taking a proper break from the site.
Yeah except it's pretty weird that tons of people are having the same reaction at the same time (I thought it was just me honestly). That forces one to assume there are other factors at play here.
I think lots of long time users haven't been here primarily for the lolcows in a while and this has kind of been ongoing, but it's gotten much worse within the last few months.

Personally I think it's the internet as a whole, and that the whole thing is cannibalizing itself. I don't think taking a break then coming back is going to change that much, because it's not about the site or topic itself, it's about the world and the internet's place within it.

Good point. Even I feel that things are getting hollow as a whole. I'm actually enjoying some of the discussions people are having about the Wild West internet days and sharing the content we used to follow more. I think there are lots of different factors in play and it isn't just one thing making the site feel the way it is right now to be quite honest.

And I definitely agree with the whole internet starting to feel like this too. I'm coping with this by just talking to small groups of people I've become acquainted with on the Farms. It really does feel a lot more like the old days if you keep it small.

I definitely feel like there's a completely different vibe. It's almost like the site is emptier than before, back when the site was up regularly it was teeming with life and fun but now it's draining and not worth coming back to everyday. People are usually pretty fun on here but that's just gone now. It's a shame. Hopefully the Farms will thrive again and get that feeling back, I really don't want it to die out in the next 5+ years.

Yeah, I have to agree. I've been around since the cwcki forums and lately it feels like we're in the latter days of the site. The number of new posts in the threads I follow have fallen off precipitously. I hope that things go back to the way they were. I've had so much fun here over the years I'd hate to lose it.

The 2022 registrants for the most part are awful. Not all of them, but like 9/10 of them could be banned and the forums would be better off.

It's also just a really shitty time in the world. Wars, market crashes, and a continual stream of terrible, wealthy people just getting away with all sort of crimes. Yeah, that's always been a thing, but it's just unabashedly in our faces constantly now. You can only read about so many trannies doing literal crimes against the innocent and getting away scot free before you realize it's killing you on the inside.

I mainly stick to the Games subforum, but there aren't many worthwhile games coming out at all. The video game industry is stagnant, stuck in a particular hell between hamstrung creativity due to game development operating like an assembly line, wokeness, and the 3-years-and-counting shortages of new consoles. It's fun to laugh at trainwrecks, but it gets old when the only interesting thing happening in games is the same exact kind of trainwreck over, and over, and over.

And if you're getting tired of Kiwi Farms, but still want a place to hang out online, well, good luck finding another place that doesn't bend over backwards to political correctness. There aren't many left.

Shit sucks right now, man, what can I say

Is cwcki forums just an old name for it?
It all started with Christian Weston Chandler (or CWC) aka Chris-Chan.
In the Sonichu universe there exists the town of CWCville pronounced Quickville (the CWC being pronounced Ke-Wee-Ke). Thus the original name of the forums Cwcki forums (Quickie forums). As the forum expanded to include other lolcows the name was changed from Quickie to Kiwi (they sound kinda similar).

So yes cwcki is just the old name for kiwifarms.

There's likely a lot more detail in there though, but you'll have to ask one of the OGs for more.

It's hard to build any kind of momentum after so many starts and stops post-Cloudflare (not bagging on Null, who's been moving mountains). It's also disheartening to see in real time how few freedoms any of us really have. I've been trying to do what I usually do: lurk and laugh at the oversharing weirdos, but there's an undercurrent of anger and disappointment inside that's poisoning the well a bit. It'll pass as things get more stable, I think.

Oh, and remember: no matter how discouraged any of us may feel right now, Keffals will never be a woman.

When I think back to my 2018 days here, after a while it did seem as if my most frequent activity correlated to being under moments that felt a bit rougher than normal. Likely to seek out schadenfreude that would help pass times otherwise dreary.
Though, things were different then as well, of course. The site still remains despite everything that's been thrown at it the past few years, but even still, the forward march of time continues to make its progression known.

Is it schadenfreude to look at these people not to enjoy their suffering but to feel grateful I'm not them?
