Difficult to do crowdsourced game dev because as much as people contributing might be into it they drop off and forget. For it to work (after basic game mechanics and theme are agreed) I suggest put a focus on skinning / scripting / level editing ability right from the start, and direct contributors primarily there. Also probably lean into amusing roughness/badness as an aesthetic.

I have a nightmare that some turbo autist could get my code handwriting fingerprint and tie it to my IRL OSS code.

I have had this fear but it’s mattering less and less to me with the pendulum swinging a little bit back.
