They (and Chris) use it as a crutch and an excuse for almost everything. If they had sent Chris to that autism school in light of the Nathanael Greene incident, he would've turned out better. And their dated views on mental health didn't help either--as if autism was a debilitating mental illness similar to schizophrenia when in reality it's a developmental delay which Chris was diagnosed with a pretty mild form of.

The real question is - does Chris even know what autism is? Sometimes I think he really doesn't, when pressed the most he did was read off the autism article on Wikipedia without really understanding what it says. It seems that Chris thinks being autistic means being lonely and different all the time without realizing many of his problems are exacerbated by autism.

Chris does seem to have a vague understanding that autism means he finds change unpleasant. The problem is, he's twisted this to mean "I have autism, therefore no one should make me change" when in reality, it means "If you have autism, you will process change differently than others, and it may help to have training on how to best accomplish this."

Chris is the master of living a double standard. It doesn't bother him having contradictory viewpoints. I've said before that I don't think Chris has a cohesive sense of self, and instead is just a hodgepodge of collected thoughts. Autism to Chris means that he has a mental block that is to be pitied, and is 'high-functioning', which makes him extremely intelligent and should be praised for that. It never enters his mind that high-functioning means by autistic standards, like not rocking back and forth screaming all the time. It's ignorance, stupidity and pride rolled up into one miserable human being.

Borb both had good jobs from companies with pretty good retirement and AFIK we have no reason to think that they've ever had any money troubles. I wouldn't be surprised if they have way more money than you guys think they do, Bob may have even payed the house off before he kicked off. They just seem poor because of Barb's hording and Chris being a dumbshit.

Oh, definitely. The public schools had to pass him along because there was an ever-present threat of lawsuits. But no one was forcing Chris to attend PVCC - he either played by their rules, or he could go take a hike. That was a new thing for the Chandlers.

Once the course was done, they'd go back to thinking the same way they did before, and Chris would probably just complain about how none of the autistic girls wanted to be his heartsweet.
