Does Chris really suffer from autism?

Everyone keeps calling out his narcissism and huge ego, which keeps making me wonder...
I've known a handful of people in my life that have aspergers. Hell, I've even dated 2 seperate guys with it...and every one of them had a HUUGGEEE ego and were very narcissistic. Is this a common thing for people with aspergers/autism?

If I remember correctly, there were talks of putting autism and aspergers on the same scale because of the similarities in each disorder. Not sure what happened with that, but if Chris still has a hatred for "aspies"...he isn't going to like that bit of news.

the dsm-5 cuts out asperger's and just has "autism spectrum disorder" as a catch-all for all stuff related to that. (meaning i no longer have asperger's haha, just autism spectrum disorder)

I would argue that his obsession with Legos is a qualifier, as they are pretty much just pieces that he can use to do whatever he wants as opposed to a toy that works in one particular way.

Lots of grown men with healthy, normal lives have LEGOs as a hobby.

And Chris doesn't seem obsessive about them, just like he doesn't really seem obsessed with any of his hobbies: Drawing, comics, MLP, etc.

If anything, its more like he treats those interests as a tool on the way to acquire the only thing he really seems to care about: A true and honest sweetheart and china.

Try to compare someone like Jordan White, who's really autistic in his love and interest for MLP with Chris's videos. There's a world of difference.

Yes it is. I know a couple of people with the 'spergs and I find every single one of them fucking annoying until the point where I can't stand being with them in a room for longer than 1 hour.

I personally think he has Autism and mild Schizophrenia mixed together. He has a lot of the common symptoms of a Schizoid disorder like delusions, paranoia etc. I got involved with a girl like that earlier this year. I know how hard they are to handle; not a good time

I base this especially on his relative ease at manipulating and lying in order to get what he wants.

People with autism also deal with honesty way better than Chris. They usually fail because they don't understand when people aren't being honest in order to for example not hurt their feelings. They are usually also way too honest and don't understand white lies and fibs. Chris on the other hand has no problems with at least the concept of not being honest in order to spare people's feelings, and would take that over an honest appraisal any time!

Whatever little spot on the autism spectrum Chris occupies, he's also dealing with one or several psychiatric disorders, like you mentioned. A Schizoid disorder is possible, as well as some degree of mental retardation. He really IS dumb as a doorknob!

I doubt Chris is mentally retarded. Socially retarded, yes, but not mentally retarded. He graduated from a community college and has had a driver's license (I don't recall anything about him having his license suspended following the 10-28-2011 incident). The explanation for any perceived mental retardation? Chris is stupid. Very stupid. That and his parents didn't get him the proper care and support when he was diagnosed with autism. Maybe he has a schizoid disorder, I don't know. But any retardation of his is more social than mental. If he got the proper treatment early on, maybe he'd be less like he is now and more like Satoshi Tajiri. At least that autistic guy actually did something with his life instead of sitting in a room waiting for Mommy Government to hand him everything.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he scores below 70 on an IQ test, which makes him borderline retarded.
He doesn't know a LOT of basic things that people take for granted.

To be perfectly honest there isn't a clear answer. Unless he revealed the autism papers from his more recent visit to the psychiatrist there's no way to know for sure.

Well, here's the thing. People with autism don't generally display all of the symptoms of autism all the time. I think Chris displays a broad enough range of symptoms to qualify as autistic. He's much more functional than many, which makes the term "high functioning" descriptively, if not medically, accurate.

They are usually also way too honest and don't understand white lies and fibs. Chris on the other hand has no problems with at least the concept of not being honest in order to spare people's feelings, and would take that over an honest appraisal any time!

I think Megan would beg to differ on this point. Also, if doesn't fit the definition of "too honest," I don't know what would.

As has been noted before, we only have snapshots of Chris's behavior. Hints and glimpses, as it were. So its very difficult to come to any concrete conclusion on what exactly is wrong with Our Pet Manbaby.

As someone with Asperger's Syndrome, I would be inclined to agree that Chris is autistic. However, i don't think that his case is all that severe; I would think his upbringing and environment combined with random but oddly detrimental events (e.g: winning competitions) are he main factors that created the manchild we all know and love.
