🐱 Don’t Google ‘space movie from 1992’ – warning not to fall for sick stunt spread by racists on Reddit

CatParty

SICK Redditors have told people not to Google “space movie from 1992” in a bid to trick them into a racist joke.

The appalling attempt at comedy began circulating on the discussion platform Reddit, before spreading across social media and becoming one of Google's top autofill suggestions.

Those deceived by the terrible trick find search results for the 1992 short film, Gayn****** from Outer Space.

The sci-fi flick follows a group of intergalactic homosexual black men from planet Anus, who visit Earth to wipe out the female population and create an all-male gay society.

The film lends its name from "Grave Robbers from Outer Space", the original title of the 1959 horror movie, "Plan 9 from Outer Space".

The intentions of the 1992 film have long been disputed, as viewers question whether it is racist and homophobic rather than a harmless spoof.

The sarcastic search warning first began circulating back in 2016, before reemerging in 2020 and the start of this year.

The joke has continued to spread across social media as cruel pranksters attempt to shock unsuspecting internet users with the racist remark.

The latest thread concerning the movie was titled, "I was told to google space movie 1992 and was not disappointed," and posted on February 3.

Other Reddit users flooded the comments, amused by the joke and praising the film - while some took the opportunity to post vile abuse.

Countless memes have since been created of the gag, which began to gain traction on Twitter and Facebook.

Brian Redban, the producer and co-host of The Joe Rogan Experience, tweeted: "DO NOT GOOGLE "SPACE MOVIE 1992"' on December 4, 2020.

The 26-minute-long movie, featured by the 2006 Stockholm Queer Film Festival, is described as a "comedic cult favourite" by fans on IMDB.

The Reddit-roll out of the joke is similar to an incident that occurred at the beginning of this month, after users similarly made the racist joke, "Don't google which dinosaur had 500 teeth" go viral.

All I can really do anymore is shake my head and chuckle at the people who get their panties in a twist over every little harmless bit of fun. You can't explain humor to the humorless. The best you can do is point and laugh when they get whiny, tell them "it's funny, you dumbass, just laugh and move on," and pay them no heed.

It's incredible to me how just 30 years ago whenever you heard this kind of pearl clutching it always came from the bible thumpers -- firmly right-wing and very noisy and annoying. Now it's the far left doing it, only it's over even less important and more nit-picky stuff nobody should care about. I bet the same people who think this movie is offensive openly scoffed at the fundies calling AD&D a "satanic" game in the 70's.

It's fucking hilarious though, and I hope they keep getting upset. Trolls will never stop trolling, and people will never stop laughing at stuff they think is funny. The outrage at trolls just makes people laugh and troll even harder.

I... I always thought it was a joke. I had no idea, thank you SO much for posting that. I'm like eight minutes in and it's a laugh a second! I really want to see a solid Star Trek series in the future if only to see a crew of 'zero shits given' boy scouts laughing their assess off and making inappropriate jokes that nobody in the future cares are inappropriate after watching this master piece.

This movie must be Easter egged into every sci-fi program made after this date. Every. Single. One.

Oh, obligatory: Thanks Sun. I never would have noticed or known. Let me introduce you to the Streisand Effect. Nothing like a fruitful exchange of information... Yea even fluids isn't quite the same.

Ok, seriously.

This is the woke Millennial leftoid equivalent of Boomer Christians in the 80's telling kids not to listen to heavy metal because the lyrics are satanic. Do you honestly think any edgelord 15-year old Zoomers are going to read this article and go full NPC fashion of saying "Affirmative!" and vowing to not google this phantom 1992 space movie? Jesus fucking Christ, the genie's out of the bottle now.
