In news that may leave some questioning the unchecked power of the Adam McKay industrial complex, the Don't Look Up filmmaker is producing a narrative feature film based on the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021, reports Deadline. Considered the worst domestic attack on American soil since 9/11, the dramatic events inarguably offer great cinematic potential, so perhaps a big screen adaptation was inevitable. But to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm: "The filmmakers were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, that they didn't stop to think if they should."

The film, currently being made under the title J6, has been scripted and will be directed by Billy Ray, best known as the writer behind the well-received Showtime miniseries The Comey Rule. Yeah, you're remembering correctly: the political drama starring Jeff Daniels as ex-FBI director James Comey, pit against Brendan Gleeson's President Trump. Seems as though Ray has something of a penchant for oddly-timed, real-life political thrillers. What's next, a Fauci biopic with Brad Pitt? Either way, the film is yet to be picked up for distribution, with Deadline confirming that the J6 script will be "shopped to studios and streamers imminently," with early conversations around financing already taking place.

Joining McKay above-the-line will be Todd Schulman, Josh McLaughlin, Cullen Hoback, and the Comey Rule-attached Shane Salerno, previously an executive producer on the Comey/Trump drama.

To be fair to him, it sounds as though Ray has put in the leg work when it comes to research. According to Deadline, he "traveled to Washington, D.C. within days of the siege, and interviewed a number of the key principles when memories were raw and fresh," including a handful of the first-responders who protected the Capitol. One such officer, Michael Fanone, consulted on the script throughout the process. "The goal was to do a ground-level view of a momentous day," said Ray. "It's about protesters who became rioters and cops who became defenders of democracy. Someone else can tell the story of the chaos at the White House on that day. I wanted to stay in the trenches." Dude certainly isn't devoid of rhetoric.

"Billy has written a screenplay that is not only harrowing and terrifying but is sure to become the definitive cinematic document on that gut-wrenching day," McKay added. One might hope it remains the only "cinematic document on that gut-wrenching day," but something tells us that won't be the case.

The film was originally conceived as another limited series, but Ray cut the original 300 pages of scripted material into a 120-page feature script. It's yet to receive a release date, or indeed, confirmation that it's actually being made, but more as we have it.

Reactions: I hate children?
Remember when they made that Borat sequel right around the 2020 election, and they had those two redneck characters who were supposed to be funny because they were spouting a bunch of COVID conspiracy theories that we now know were and are 100% correct? Or that time that they made a Fauci movie or two and then right around the time that they were set to be released, Fauci was implicated with the creation of COVID and puppy/orphan torture and murder?

This is going to be like that.

Considered the worst domestic attack on American soil since 9/11,
What.
It's about protesters who became rioters and cops who became defenders of democracy.
Meaning cops are usually what, rioters? And also this looks like phrase that better describe BLM riots, why don't you film about it instead? It was surely more impactful.

This will be a hamfisted propaganda piece, isn't it.

Will it be filled with smug 4th wall breaking moments where random celebrity talks down to the audience explaining what the issue is?

Another thread I bring back from the dead, looks like Adam McKay will have much more material about January 6 now with Tucker Carlson releasing 41, 000 hours of J6 footage. :story:

THEY’RE SCARED: Democrats And A Certain RINO Are Melting Down Over Tucker Carlson Releasing 41,000 Hours Of J6 Footage

The corporate media and the Democrats’ worst nightmare came true after Speaker Kevin McCarthy gave Tucker Carlson 41,000 hours of unreleased J6 footage.

The January 6th commission led by Democrats and two despicable RINOs (Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger) solely focused on vengeance against President Trump and trying to ensure he went to jail. Revealing the unvarnished truth would have detracted from these efforts.

Carlson, who correctly pointed out the Commission’s obfuscation of the truth months ago, said this to Axios after obtaining the footage:

“There was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret. If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it.”
The truth to Democrats is like sunlight to vampires. They are trembling in terror over their possible political destruction after this footage is released.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) released a statement on Twitter outright lying about Tucker and claiming releasing actual camera footage would fuel “dangerous conspiracy theories.”

Ah yes, Im sure we can expect the propagandists of hollywood to produce something fair and accurate and not at all bias that properly tells of the real events that day...

Dont Look Up sucks but there are parts I legit think wouldnt be that far off from the truth if an asteroid was on its way to destroy Earth, more especifically that we would somehow find a way to make it political and the elites would be focusing on a way to profit from it and then ditching Earth to save their own skins if it all fails.

Its a movie that feels like it was getting close to something but couldnt go all the way as to not piss off certain people.

With all of that said, what narrative you can even make from it that isnt either a Micheal fat Moore documentary styled thing or a movie that isnt about the event but an "expy" of it with very black and white villains. The real thing was very boring all things considered so how can you make it exciting if not by lying the shit out of it?

Why is A&H so eager to simp for a bunch of boomer rednecks?
I just hate the people in power and if a Boomer red neck makes Chuck Schumer and Jerry Nadler shit their pants in fear it’s funny. I think the whole thing was a gayop that went out of hand and it’s fucked up they threw people in prison for like a year before a trial.

Somehow they will have forgotten the scenes with Ray Epps, and most of the people being let in as the Capital police removed barriers and opened doors.

While misrepresenting those that broke in.

The lady shot, will not be in the film. Yet it'll have a cop being killed. Which didn't happen.

No one will see this. It will exist to try and firm up the narrative but everyone knows that narrative is bullshit. Even the most anti-Trumpers. So they won't bother seeing it.

My nigger Brother in Christ, how is it the worst domestic attack since 9/11

Stephen Glownigger shot like 420 blaze it people in Los Angeles, and 60 of them died
The Jan 6th crowd smeared a bit of shit around, smashed some windows and got one of their own shot dead

Anyone who uses the word "considered" without "by" and the name of the specific person or group making the subsequent declarative statement should have their typing fingers broken.

Which is all of their fingers, I guess.

Note it's not "domestic terrorism," it's a "domestic attack." Any random shooting with two or more victims is worse than this "domestic attack."

Reactions: Shroom King
I hope it really captures AOC's harrowing ordeal as she cowered in in her office nowhere near the Capitol, and mistook a security guard there to protect her for rioters looking to murder her.

Just because the danger was imaginary, that didn't make it any less dangerous.
