DOOM

Happy 30th Birthday for DooM.

As far as I can tell, id Software and Bethesda have done nothing to commemorate it.
You know what, maybe that's why Xbox is putting Doom on Dorito bags.

I bet this is viral marketing. Small promotions intended to get Doom back in the players' collective minds, followed by months of hinting at a big project in the works, until finally at Quakecon 2024 they make a giant announcement in front of a massive crowd...

...that Todd is remaking Doom 2016 and selling it for 70 dollars.

I hate to break it to you guys, but it’s not just Doom that’s on the Doritos bags. Every flavor had a different game. Forza was Spicy Sweet Chili, Starfield was Nacho Cheese and Madden NFL was Cool Ranch. Surprisingly no Halo or Gears of War, which are also like Microsoft’s notorious flagship games which is bizarre (probably because they suck now lol).

That makes sense I suppose, but when I was at the store, DOOM Spicy Nacho was the only Xbox flavor there was; all the other flavors were normal. That's why I figured this was just some random Xbox promotion and they were going back to Doom because Starfield was such a joke and Doom was their last franchise to have a real hit (this was before I knew it was Doom's 30th too).

Give it time.
I mean, considering the behavior of Marty Stratton, I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a way to shit it up, but bringing in Todd Howard seems a little unlikely with how fragile Stratton's ego seems to be. I doubt he'd want another big name overshadowing his.

Honestly where would they even go from DOOD Eternal and its autistic DLCs? They killed the big bad, yeah? Where do you even go from there?

Something involving the Ancient Gods and Wraiths, I guess? Maybe something more Lovecraftian in nature?

Or they can just churn out prequels like everyone else.

They can always go the DOOM3/soft-reboot route and make something standalone after putting some Quake stuff out. Given enough time between Eternal and a new DOOM game people wouldn't care much about it being something "new", nobody had an issue going though a different spin of the Spiderdemon's invasion in 2016.

Was Todd even involved in Doom 2016? I get Bethesda was involved, but I don't know if Todd himself was.
Todd only works on Bethesda Game Studios's games, afaik he has never touched games that were only published by Bethesda.

I mean again, I'm well aware Bethesda worked on Doom 2016, but because this was in a different studio, I don't know Todd was ever even involved in it

Apparently Romero dropped an "unofficial" episode 6 for Sigil 2 to commemorate it. I wasn't even aware until I happened to see one of decino's videos pop up in my feed this morning.
